The. Deal. Is. So. Good.

Summary of the 2023 WGA MBA
wgacontract2023.org
The following is a summary of the deal terms for the 2023 MBA. It is a simplified version of the Memorandum of Agreement (“MOA”), which cont

Couldn't get the link to the side-by-side of the WGA offer, the AMPTP counter offer from May, and the final deal, because it's a document to download and too many pictures to take for this post that probably wouldn't be legible, but it's in this tweet (click the link below the tweet to go to said tweet):

Just look at these terms side-by-side with the original ask. Freaking amazing. A tremendous accomplishment, we bow before the awesome might of the WGA Negotiating Committee! https://t.co/4b2Ilw6FEP

The WGA negotiating committee members are unpaid. They are volunteers. They did that work out of a sense of duty and as an act of service.

And they saved the fucking town.

boy math is losing billions of dollars just to end up almost tripling your offer pic.twitter.com/F6ebfkppVA

Of the 13 or 14 WGA contracts I’ve seen in the course of my career, this one, like, blows my mind. Outstanding work, everyone. I wish I could give each one of you a big poutine in gratitude.

— Rene Balcer (@ReneBalcer) September 27, 2023
Even though this is a small percentage of the membership, we don't want to undersell this, The comedy variety NegComm members went to the fucking wall to get this. I am not exaggerating to say that handful of people saved this field of writing as a career. https://t.co/ndm4gK0xJN

— John Rogers (@jonrog1) September 27, 2023
A lot of deserved love for NegComm right now, but let’s give it up for the captains and lot coordinators. Your relentless efforts to keep those picket lines full for all 148 days 100% rattled the shit out of the companies. You are resolve incarnate.

— John Rogers (@jonrog1) September 27, 2023
These are essential protections that the companies told us, to our faces, that they would NEVER give us. But because of our solidarity, because they literally cannot make a dollar without us, they bent, then broke, and gave us what we deserve. WE WON.

— Adam Conover (@adamconover) September 27, 2023
I just wanna say a special and hearty “you were wrong” to the man who yelled at me, to tears, at someone’s wedding, that minimum room size was impossible.

He was fucking wrong. And we were fucking right.

— Andra (on-druh) Whipple (@whipsical) September 27, 2023
Reading through the WGA deal now…

Holy **fucking** shit.

We just… saved this profession?

— James Is ON STRIKE (@ScriptsByJames) September 27, 2023
I'll see you all on the picket lines for SAG-AFTRA this week, right people? We're not done until we're ALL done.

— John Rogers (@jonrog1) September 27, 2023

Don't forget, the fight isn't over for SAG-AFTRA and next year, contracts are up again for IATSE, including The Animation Guild.

If you're a fan of movies, film, and animation, keep helping the guilds fight the good fight!

And of course, big thanks to strike hero Drew Carey for paying for probably THOUSANDS of meals for striking writers in LA these past five months.

Congratulations WGA and Pre-WGA for your amazing wins with this contract!

Gaiman: " If you really can't figure out which political party or which politician to vote for, just ask if they're on the side of libraries. Are they voting to fund their libraries? Are they voting to keep them free? Then vote for those guys. They're probably the good guys. And by the same token, the book burners, the book banners, they're probably the bad guys."

hobbits have a vast bureaucracy dedicated solely to keeping track of their shire’s genders. they have entire libraries devoted solely to sorting, divaricating, and categorizing them. the gender spectrum to them is really more like an 11th-dimensional venn diagram. hobbit scientists have identified over 35 “fundamental particles” of gender, yet theorize of many more. orcs have one gender they call it “Crash”
