Maybe Howard stark was bi? Like Tony in more than one instance has mentioned how his father always talked about Steve how he admired him so much and how his father adored Steve Rogers, but what if Howard actually had a crush on Cap? Like not enough to not be able to love and marry Maria but enough to always remember and talk about him, Like what if Howard always had this inclination towards men just never acknowledged it until he met Cap the he realized maybe he did like men, but because it was the 40′s he just kept to himself and after so long of just repressing it he just kinda got used to it but still wanted his son to know about the first and only man since who got him to feel that way.  

So my personal opinion is just that he was talking about the whole P*quet family and those who stand with them, and I think that when they did the we race as one and Max fully participated in the campaign (even though it was a requirement for all drivers to part take and post) that he saw that as subtle way of Max condemning them ( the P*quets) with out actually destroying his relationship. This also feeds into the fact that Danny has bordering narcissistic tendencies and will usually just take what he thinks as fact. Although to certain degree I think that if this was the case that he also knows he is bordering on delusional but just wants to keep believing, because he's an optimist and likes having Max as a friend and so he just wants to only see the best in him even when there's nothing there to see anymore.

Huh @ the maxiel break-up theory. When I saw that statement, I was like: wow maxiel dead in the water. But then... it wasn't? At least not from Daniel's side. And that makes it odd to me. "Is no friend of mine" is such a strong thing to say. You don't say it about strangers, anonymous bullies. It's *personal*. But then... he kept on acting the same towards Max? Kept praising him in any case. Tbh, I feel like Max was already acting more distant before that, but maybe he did read it that way too? And kept his distance even more? It's true that statement wasn't ever dissected by fandom (because of the context, obviously, you can't simply turn it into a fanon thing and ignore the underlying issues), but it mostly makes Daniel's behaviour since very odd to me. Who are the people who aren't his friends? Kelly?????? Please.
