Family
As I've grown into myself, Iv'e found I drift away from family They don't know who I'm becoming, stuck to a shadow That I leave behind as I move towards the light
(Either sunrise or the end of the tunnel)
But that's ok, I've found a new family: I found it in the hurried quiet of a graceful academic I found it in the soft warmth of an exuberante acrobat I found it in the whirring mind of a drifting musician And they hold me close and lift me up, family bonds made stronger By near tragedy and shared love.
Family, to me is the quiet, bone breaking, defiance of a red rose That blooms vibrantly, being nurtured and held tight By the melodic greens and browns of the forest That holds the staring deer stands unbroken Family is the gentle fire of artists, one sharp with empathy The other subded but vibrant, both flaming with talent and brilliance.
So it doesn't matter that my parents get it wrong Or my brother calls me weird Becasue I have them; A pair borne out of ink and analysis A pair that heals together like they always should have (broken bones knit back stronger) Individuals strong enough to shoulder the world And smart enough to know to share the load
They are family

poetry til I’m dead or better 3
I wonder often at the power of words An author can spin lines that inspire crusades Or ignite revolutions changing the course Of entire nations All it takes is words, writ large or small.
Poets are gods, manipulators of hearts and souls alike They can raise forgotten memories Whether of love or hate or anger or joy All it takes is words.
Paragraphs
I’ve known you for about a year, I don’t know if you know the real me. We've called for hours, you can read me like a book, I close the pages, We both write poetry when we break, you give me hope, I made you cry. I‘ve known you for a few months, I’ve never understood someone more, you know more about me than my parents, you told my parents and sat outside for hours, I told you my plan, you know next time will be the last, you keep trying. I’ve known you for a year, we shared sleep and books, I made you promises, you held me when I broke, you’re too busy to notice me leave, I don't want you to notice me leave, your cat hates me, I love your cat, you're the only person to see me cry, you're the only person to make me cry, you won’t notice. You’re the summer, I can't stand the heat, You smile so easily, I make you laugh, you underestimate your intelligence, you don't believe me. You were the first friend I made, You’ll be the last friend to know, we share a uniform and make the same stupid jokes, you want to be a copper, I think all cops are bastards, you believe in jesus, I spit at his cross, you were the first friend.
no the word is not gender neutral you're just using a gendered word regardless of the persons gender. it is in fact different. simply using male terms for everyone is not gender neutral, it's just male centric.
