“That makes sense,” She agrees. At first, when Lucie was smaller, she could sneak her to New Ephyra, show her new sights that the swarm could never. But now that another war had occurred, she needed to keep her away, not only because the COG would hunt her down but also that was not where she was needed. Both of them were needed to fight the Swarm, in ways neither the Outsiders nor the COG could on the battlefield.

 “Haven’t been doing a whole lot of anarchy lately, which kinda sucks” she adds nonchalantly, ”But I’ve been making sure no nests pop out in these ruins. Last thing anyone wants really at this time.”

This war had taken her focus away from both the COG and the Outsiders. If she were to focus on them both, she feels that the Swarm would only take them out and then her in the end.

Lucie slithers away from Shima’s chest to inspect the one called ‘Grin’. True they were of the same genetic makeup, she felt no connection to the Swarm, but this one was no different. She approaches him slowly sniffing the ground next to him, before moving closer, trying to catch his scent in order to become more familiar with this one like her.

Please don’t expect me to always be good and kind and loving. There are times when I will be cold and thoughtless and hard to understand.

“I have no fucking clue, to be honest. I found her when she was a little grubby thing,” She answers as she looks at Lucie. Lucie even herself has no idea. She only remembers waking up, in a nest but never feeling connected to the other imago. She wandered out of the nest, where she eventually found Shima.

And looking over to ‘Grin’ and Wade, Shima waves a little calmly, but Lucie growls low in her throat as she looks back at Wade. She wasn’t about to trust someone who mention ‘brains’ and ‘pouncer’ in the same sentence, even if she was no longer of the Swarm. Shima shushes Lucie, pulling her head close to her chest. The heartbeating calms Lucie, and she starts to rumble in her throat, eyes closed as Lucie savors the calming sounds.

"So...What brings you to this area of town?”

She looks over to JD, now curious as to why they were here, to begin with. 

“JD?” She questions as she tilts her head sideways in confusion. The appearance is drastic, and it takes time to realize who he was before she collapses on her knees, her body wrought with adrenaline, but she tries to stand up once again. She looks over to ‘Grin’ and another gears soldier. She’s so confused but might as well give him an answer. 

“He might know better as that ‘guardian angel’ of the COG,” She answers as Lucie retreats back to Shima and acting as a support, keeping an eye on the ‘swarm’ soldier, “Or as that one anarchist vigilante known as the Magpie. Take your pick. Either way, I’m Shima Verre.”

She looks over to JD confusion painted all over her face.

“Who the hell are these two though?”
