Pentellow has tried to teach herself magic tricks before but she’s god awful at them.

Pentellow, pulling out an UNO wild card: “Is this your card?”

Cube: “No?? How did that even get into a deck of poker cards-“

Pentellow pulls out another card: “Aha, was this your card?”

Cube: “Is that a tarot card? Pentellow, seriously, what kind of-“

Pentellow: “Oh would you look at that the wheel of fortune, yeesh I’m pretty sure it means you’ll have bad luck if it’s upside down like this”

Cube: “…”

Okie so here’s a very unorganised rant about my pink corruption oc Pearl! :3

(@astronic-fr sorry for the ping but I saw you ask about her in the tags of my previous post so yeah-)

I briefly went over her personality before but I’ll go into some more depth.

Pearl’s an introvert, she’s not that good at reading the room or socialising so she tends to just stick to herself most of the time. However once she does get emotionally attached to someone she’s a very loving and loyal person, does she disappear into the woods for a few weeks? Yeah, but Pearl will always come back to you. (If anyone here knows the Moomins she’s kinda like Snuffkin in that regard)

Pearl’s also a very adventurous and easily excitable person, she likes travelling around paradise and seeing new places. (Barracuda ended up inheriting this endless curiosity- for better or worse) She’s easily distracted by things around her and so conversations with Pearl are doomed to trail way off topic.

Now as for her lore with Pyrare:

Pearl and Pyrare met through a mutual friendship with Ajacenus.

The two of them ended up becoming close friends themselves. They’re both more on the quieter side and Pyrare didn’t mind her occasional eccentricity. Pearl was always fond of his kind-hearted and patient nature.

As Pearl got older her family started putting pressure on her to settle down with someone (partially since they believed it would get her head out of the clouds), she never really liked the idea of marriage and starting a family but it didn’t really seem like she could do much else with her life.

So, since Pyrare was one of her dearest friends Pearl thought I’d be only logical for the two of them to get married.

Pyrare himself wasn’t against the idea, he did want to start a family even if his relationship with Pearl didn’t feel quite like how others had described romance.

And so they got married.

It took both of them a good few years to slowly realise neither of them were really romantically interested in one another, for a while they still tried to make it work but in the end they both wanted very different futures.

Pyrare always craved stability and peace, he wanted to start a family and spend the rest of his life in a small comfortable house.

Meanwhile Pearl finds the idea of settling down and staying there agonising. Not to mention the thought of being responsible for a child terrified her.

So they eventually came to a compromise of sorts, they had Barracuda but split up right after. Barracuda stayed under Pyrare’s care, and once he got the hang of being a parent Pearl left. The two of them stayed in contact and Pearl still visited them frequently, being a sort of “cool aunt” figure for Barracuda.

Now, during the events of the first corruption and Barracuda’s death Pearl wasn’t nearby. So she only learnt of the whole incident after it had all already happened from Pyrare when she came back.

Pearl was devastated, even if she hadn’t been a mother to Barracuda for most of his life he was still her baby. She still loved him dearly. In her initial shock and grief Pearl said a lot of things to Pyrare she didn’t really mean, he didn’t take that well.

After Cuda’s death Pyrare isolated himself from pretty much everyone other than Gold (whose existence Pearl didn’t even know about, Pyrare didn’t intentionally hide him but Pearl snapped way before he could begin explaining the caretaker ordeal to her), Pearl herself went into mourning for a few years but unlike Pyrare she soon was back in touch with her loved ones.

Pyrare practically disappearing worried those who knew him. Particularly Ajacenus, even when Pearl still didn’t want to talk to him Ajacenus tried to reach out to him several times. After a while even Pearl grew concerned, but despite the many letters she sent to Pyrare over the course of several years she never got a response.

And so life had to move on.

Pearl has managed to somewhat cope with the whole ordeal but she still blames herself for both lashing out at Pyrare at a time he needed support the most and a part of her also blames herself for Barracuda’s death, maybe if she had been more present in his life she could’ve prevented it somehow…

Also some random lighthearted fun facts so I don’t end this on a depressing mood:

•Pearl has tried to learn how to knit before and despises it with her entire soul, she likes watching Pyrare knit though

•She has a lot of random acquaintances all over paradise

•Both her and Pyrare love physical affection

•When they were younger she used to constantly drag Pyrare out to go on silly adventures or to go exploring with her

•She lived with Ajacenus and her sisters for a short while after Cuda’s death

Math be fucking wild because why on gods green earth did me misplacing one minus change the result into a complex number. Wgat,?? how did tthe “i” get there :(

I know this is far from my usual posts but I’m working on a very interesting project for school and I feel compared to share the Slovak national treasure that is Izabela Textorisová.

She’s the first female slovak botanist and throughout her career created a herbarium, “Herbarium Textoris” with over 4000 plants documented in it. It’s still used by botanists in Slovak to this day and is particularly valuable because it contains many species that have gone extinct.

Izabela has written other articles and pieces that are still of value, but one of her greatest contributions has to be the discovery of a new species of thistle later named after her, “Carduus Textorisanus Marg.”

But you know what’s coolest about her?

She managed all of this despite never getting a proper education, working as a post officer and taking care of her grandmother and later her sisters and parents as well.

She would study late into the evenings after work. She learnt several foreign languages (the number is different from source to source but they’re usually around 6-7), and continued her studies in biology.

Izabela Textorisová managed to become an equal to many other botanists, both of Slovak and foreign origin, despite all the odds playing against her.

She’s an underrated icon that’s worth looking into if you happen to be interested in Slovak history or just interesting historical figures in general. However, to may dismay, there aren’t many sources about her out there.

And imagine being the eridians that are later taught science by Ryland

Your entire race has been saved by this alien, who knows science previously unheard of by your kind… and he’s YOUR SCIENCE TEACHER??

Imagine you are a 13 year old over achieving shit head student and one day your favourite science teacher doesn't show up to class for a few days, and when next you see him he looks like he's aged 5 years and hasn't slept that entire time.

And then half way though class he looks sick and leaves and the next time you hear about him (a few years later), he's been sent to fucking SPACE to try and save the world

And you don't hear shit about him until you're in like. Your late 20s. You've long since forgotten about the whole thing except as a vague idea that exists in everyone's minds now as the world steadily gets worse. Everyone has resigned themselves to the fact that they probably won't live past 50.

And then one day, the beetles return and its all over the news that your dorky science teacher from Middle school has:

A) found something to eat the sun-eating algae ge that's been causing the apocalypse for about 17 years now

B) engineered it to survive on venus

C) discovered intelligent alien life

D) sent a TON of information including some of the language back

E) and could have made it home but decided to go BACK and sacrifice his life to save a WHOLE ALIEN PLANET WE DIDNT KNOW HAD LIFE ON UNTIL THIS WEEK

and you just have to go about your life with this knowledge. Your dorky middle school teacher is a world hero. He chose alien life over returning to earth and his own life. Aliens are real. What the fuck

She’s Pyrare’s ex-wife and Barracuda’s mom

Pearl and Pyrare got together mostly due to the pressure both of their families put on them to get married and settle down. Neither of them really felt any romantic attraction to the other but they do love each other dearly.

Personality wise Pearl comes off as pretty aloof and quiet at first, she’s a very excitable and curious person deep down though. She’s just kinda hard to read.

Other than being Pyrare’s ex-wife she’s also a good friend of Ajacenus, it was actually through her that she first met Pyrare.

So you guys know how those soul/core/??? triangles light up when Pentellow and Iris are together sometimes (like in the kiss scene and I think it was also in one of the shorts as well?)

I was just thinking that it would be so funny if it happened to someone before confessing their feelings. Like- imagine chilling and cuddling with your homie and then the triangles light up. What do y’all do now? Your “will-they-won’t-they” situation gets so bad your own fucking core-triangle thing decides to put you guys out of your misery.

Like- when that silly critter almost died I was thiiiisss close 🤏 to bawling my eyes out

The dialogue in this book is so so funny and I love this entire book wholeheartedly, Rocky and Ryland are a wonderful duo

I’m so glad I read this book, I admit, once it started leaning into more alien stuff I was kinda hesitant. Since I always thought I’d never be into books about aliens but Rocky now has a very special place in my heart and I apologise to him for my ignorance.

10/10 would recommend very very very much, this book made me happy happy happy :3
