*Maybe spoilers ahead if you haven’t read Project Hail Mary” Hi. I just read “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir, & I would like to escort myself to the nearest corner to cry BECAUSE I CANT WITH ROCKY. anyways, I will be hyper fixating on this for a while, so yeah.

colored as promised! you know… my design for ryland is so far removed from the original inspiration (peter b parker) that you really can’t tell that he was inspired by peter b parker unless you were to make his head thin and get drunk.

anyway: dirty blonde hair, dimples and burn scars bc i said so. i was really contemplating dark brown hair but in the end i decided against it because uhhhh there actually was no deep reason for why, i just wanted too.

I don’t think i ever posted any of these and I am FURIOUS at myself!! I no longer have the HD files, these were all screenshotted off of my IG where they were cross posted. I believe I made these and posted them to a PHM server but never actually posted them here, which is unfortunate because I left the server a looooong time ago.

the cowboy art was for a weird crack AU either I or a collective in the server came up with. I mainly just wanted to draw rocky and Ryland in cowboy attire. There WAS an actual story, but i’ve long since forgotten it.

No, I haven’t actually! I don’t have the book with me right now so I couldn’t check how the book described it. I asked my brother who also read the book what it looked like and he said it was drab in color and had funky shapes. I decided to just make up my own interpretation. I made the raw crystals be orange because it contrasted well with Ryland’s jumpsuit. They’re supposed to be uncut orange crystals which are able to shimmer a bit, but aren’t valuable for their looks. They have a sort of geode shape to them, hence why they look cool when ecolocated. Idk what the metal chains would be, probably zenonite. Rocky *is* wearing a thin shirt thing with sleeves btw, It just doesn’t show up well because I accidentally made the fabric too similar to the skin tone.

Also, Ryland finally gets an actual human face! No more chibi of Ryland for no reason. :) I tried to use Ryan Gosling as a reference, but the similarity is likely unrecognizable.
