Most powerful, best, favorite, underrated and guilty pleasure with the beifongs

Most Powerful: Toph. She could be deadlier than Ozai if she weren't one of the good guys. One of those days I gotta make a dark!Toph AU just out of curiosity.

Best: Lin. Lin definitely. She's the best Bei Fong, the purest person and it's kind of frustrating to know that she did everything right and the world kept showing her the middle finger. I love Kyalin because it gives Lin the happy ending she deserves. Lin is the best thing that ever happened to that family.

Favorite: Suyin. She wasn't a good sister but I think she's a good mom. She's like a mini Toph but with some common sense 😂. And her children and husband are adorable (except for Baatar Jr, the dumbass Bei Fong)

Underrated: Opal. Opal deserves more love. Airbending Bei Fong. Why no one is fangirling over her?

Guilty Pleasure: Lao. What a jerk. Why do I even love him?

Honestly, the fact that F. C. Yee looked at the avatar whose in best-known show took a peninsula and turned it into an island, and said, "I think you have dysphoria, social anxiety, freckles, you're a criminal, the biggest simp ever, and also, a diplomatic disaster" was so iconic.

cut to a brightly-lit comic scene. tagaka sits on an icy throne, idly inspecting her sheathed gold sword, as she says, "So the way I see it, you've got two options here, Earth Kingdom Girl. Like I told you before, I like your potential. I'm not opposed to letting you join the Fifth Nation if you're up for it." Tagaka's speech bubble continues over a panel of Kyoshi: she glares angrily up at Tagaka, kneeling with her arms tied behind her back. Tagaka continues, "If you're not... then I'll just have to kill you." The next panel is a close-up shot of Tagaka unsheathing her sword partway, a bright gleam illuminating the blade.
the next panel zooms in on Kyoshi's gritted teeth. Her breath is cloudy from the cold air. She thinks to herself, "Damn it...! Die, or become a daofei?" The next panel depicts Jesa and Hark, glaring, with a dark background and red overlay. Kyoshi thinks to herself, "I think I might literally rather die." The next panel shows Kyoshi's eyes, lined with worry. She thinks: "But... this isn't about what I want."
The next panel is a somewhat zoomed-out shot that shows Tagaka staring down at Kyoshi from her throne. Yun is completely encased in ice at her feet. Kyoshi's inner thoughts read: Right now... I need to stay alive long enough to get Yun out of this."
Closeup of Tagaka's disdainful expression. She says, "Well?" Angry but cornered, Kyoshi mutters, "...Fine. I'll join you."
the next page is a completely different scene that takes place some time later. in a dimly-lit room, Yun sits on a cushioned chair, looking exhausted, with his arm and part of his face bandaged. Rangi stands before him, and says, "I'm really glad to see you safe. They wouldn't let me come on the rescue mission, they said--" She pauses. The art zooms in on her concerned expression. She says, "Wait. Yun, where's Kyoshi?" Yun says, "Rangi--...Kyoshi's dead. Tagaka killed her." The last panel is a very zoomed-in shot of Rangi's eyes, wide with horror and shining with grief.
the next page is in a much simpler style than the rest of the comic. tagaka reclines with a glass of some alcoholic beverage, looking nonchalant. the text reads: wow i love lying to children lol.
a new scene, back with kyoshi and tagaka, at night. Tagaka approaches Kyoshi from behind and says, "Sneaking around again?" Kyoshi's face is surprised as she says, "I--I don't know what you're talking about." Tagaka raises an eyebrow skeptically and says, "Oh, please. I'm not an idiot, girl. I know perfectly well you'd run away in a heartbeat if you could. When will you get it through your head? You're better off here than you ever were in Yokoya." Kyoshi's face is in shadow, not visible to Tagaka, but she glares and thinks, "Like hell I am."
Tagaka continues, waving a hand dismissively, "You're suited to a place like this. You're strong--you train like you're hoping to kill me one day, which, frankly, you probably are. If you'd just get past this stupid block and saw some sense, you'd be perfect. Think, Kyoshi! It's been weeks. Your old friends already took back their precious Avatar and nearly a dozen other hostages besides." The next panel shows Kyoshi's distressed expression, still determinedly avoiding looking at Tagaka. Kyoshi whispers, "...Stop," but Tagaka continues: "But you're still here--not because they couldn't find you, but because you weren't worth the fucking trouble." Kyoshi's fists clench.
Tagaka says, "Why do you still want to go back to people who so obviously don't care about you?" Then there are two panels next to each other: One, the same picture of Jesa and Hark as before, on a red background with cold expressions, as well as a similar-looking panel with Kelsang, Yun, and Rangi, all glaring toward the viewer coldly. Kyoshi, growing more and more distressed, yells, STOP! Her eyes glow, and air begins to ripple around her as she enters the Avatar State. a little cartoony Tagaka is in the corner with wide eyes and windblown hair saying "what the fuck."
