Why are skulls so hard to draw?!

Today is a day for rabbit holes, apparently. And probably art. I've been doing Lanuary, but I haven't finished anything yet. Also remembered to update Carried by Our Desolation (My WWX forms a sect in Burial Mounds and takes in all the strays fic) and Little Talks (LWJ buys a house that happens to be haunted somehow by WWX modern cultivation fic). I have 107 WIPs in my MDZS folder. Everything is out of hand.

@unforth Oh lol. I just said that there are so many good stories in the world and I like to read my kids myths and legends from other cultures sometimes. But that it is nice to see someone else who looked at fairytales and went hmm what are these teaching kids and are they too scary. And that I had a lot of push back when I brought it up. Tumblr really said "This is too contentious." 😂 Mostly I am just nodding my head with what you said.

I just saw a post like "no one tells fairy tales to their kids anymore it's so sad."

And I'm like.

Look I'm sorry I don't want to tell my kids the "be careful about going alone because a man will murder your grandma and then eat you" story, the "god help you if you're born poor and your family is mean to you because your only way out will be to luck into marrying a rich person" story, the "the only way to keep some asshole from destroying your house is to build a better house out of more expensive materials because otherwise you're just asking for it" story, the "strange old women will try to bribe you then eat you" story, or any of the others.

I don't tell my kids fairy tales because, to be honest, a lot of fairy tales made me super uncomfortable as a kid, I didn't like them, they made me afraid of everyone outside of my family in the world, and those aren't lessons I want to pass on in those terms.

We still tell are kids stories. I just have way more options now for WHICH stories they're exposed to.

This isn't a bad thing, ffs.

Today's Lanuary challenge is time travel and I am wondering what is going to happen with this. So far I have 3 new WIPs thanks to this challenge. LOL

Some days are for creating. Other days, days like today, are for playing stardew valley and drinking warm tea in bed because the winter blahs are pushing into depression territory and I am taking care of myself.
