Looking at the clan emblems for the great sects and deciding my favorite ones. I have never looked at any except the Lan ones before. This all came about because I am working on a Wen Ning art and realized I didn't have a good grasp of what the Wen clan emblem is supposed to look like. XD
Why are skulls so hard to draw?!

One of my fave things in art is when they've drawn one hand elegantly and in detail and then the other is sort of this sketchy mess of movement, but somehow it works? I love that so much!
Got inspired to do an art.. but it requires some thoughtful character design... Hmmmm. It's either going to be a banger or I am going to ruin it. HAHAHA
Golden chrysanthemums? Why not! Wait... how do I draw a simplified chrysanthemum? Hahaha... oh boy 😐
The art program I use doesn't have many brush resources that I can find, so that means I'm often making my own. I highly recommend learning, if you don't know already, how to make your own brushes. Nothing like drawing a piece for a reoccurring element, turning it into a brush, and using it that way.

I have a good feeling about this one. The flowers are freehand drawn chrysanthemums turned into a brush for this exact purpose. I love this coat
My wife is calling this art HowlLian.... 😂 That's gonna be my tag for my wip now
Inspiration for the Sophie!Hua Cheng has struck! I am very excited!
Kitchens are hard to draw. I don't usually go for detailed backgrounds, but here I am. It will be worth it in the end, I am sure.
There is a reason I don't do backgrounds. This kitchen is going to be the death of me. I've probably doubled the amount of time I work on an image and the background isn't even done *sobs*
*Thousand-yard stare, at the camera* this is what growth looks like as an artist. *sobs some more*
I am suddenly reminded of the best advice I ever heard for drawing realistic noses. Draw a dick on the person's face. That's it... I mean then you refine it into a nose, but boy did that change my perspective on noses.
So the other day my daughter decided to prove to me she could stand still for the 20 minutes she asked her brother to (she wanted to "portrait" him). With five minutes left I decided to sketch her. And I did. It's real funny cause it looks like her and it's terrible quality. So she asked me to color her. I almost forgot. So I spent 20 minutes flat coloring this portrait. I'll let you know if she roasts me in the morning.
Update: She said, "Ok. That's pretty good. But you didn't draw my teeth right. It's weird. Mama fix my teeth."
I love her so much 🤣
