It's Not Even Like It's Hard To Watch It Though. Back Before S3 Was Out, I Watched The First Special
It's not even like it's hard to watch it though. Back before S3 was out, I watched the first special and season on prime video, 'cause I have that. But you had to pay to watch the second season. Not anymore, but it was off limits until well after S3. And Revenge of the Spider Queen wasn't even on there. So I ended up watching it on a google drive folder I found on reddit.
It was a similar situation with S3 and the following special.
But S4? Oh, oh. I had to force myself to stay off of social media just to not get spoilers because I like watching the dub. So I knew it was out, and was also very excited when it eventually came out in English. But how to find it? I eventually searched the show on my roku and downloaded Happykids, where I watched all S4 and the special.
I also have an unlisted playlist of all the episodes on youtube. I don't know where it came from or why I have it saved, but it's there. I don't even need it considering I have better ways to view the show. And it only popped up on my phone after I watched everything. So-
love how monkie kid is completely wild in its accessibility. like oh you want to watch monkie kid? well the first two seasons are on this website with free cartoons and if you enter this back alley here you can get season 3 on a google drive from a shady salesman. its only the english subtitles, though, so you'll have to do some digging for the dubbed version. oh season 4? season 4 is on youtube

You know those anime meta posts along the lines of “I was born with pink hair. The doctors told my parents I was a Main Character and ever since my life has not known peace from demons/spirits/sports competitions/harems who find me”
Well I see that, and I raise you this:
An anime boy whose appearance is, by absolutely anyone’s account, completely and utterly average. Mundane hair. Mundane eyes. Not even glasses to set him the tiniest bit apart. A simple, unmemorable, unrecognizable civilian among a backdrop of millions.
And he has a lot of passions, and a lot of ambitions, which he hones every chance he gets. He’s dabbled in sports and archery and cooking and just about anything you could wrap a competition around. And he’s competed in many of these. Every chance he gets. With all of his passion and all of his might.
He’s crushed by the competition every single time.
Until one day–one day something clicks for him. Something that should have seemed obvious from the start and yet never was–as though everyone, including himself, was unwittingly blind to it. It clicks, when he realizes every kid who’s beaten him in competition, every kid who’s gone on to fame and glory and acclaim, has been some candy-haired gel-spiked ridiculously-dressed fucker.
There’s some trend there that this Main Character boy can’t explain and can’t understand but he decides, this one time, fuck it. He’ll play along too. He’s got a model train competition in four days, and he’s got nothing more to lose. He hits up the department store, buys the pinkest, noxious-est, fruitiest hair dye he can find, the spikiest hair gel available, and the gaudiest clothes on the thrift rack. He enters the model train competition looking like a bubble gum gijinka.
And he wins.
Suddenly, the other candy-haired contestants notice him. They talk to him. They pledge rivalries. Girls notice him. Judges applaud him. Acclaimed model train aficionados offer him internships across the world. He’s hit on something.
The main cast expands to cover just about every candy-hair cliche in the book: from the mostly-normal-looking demure school girl with the blue hair to the Naruto-est, yelling-est boy with the red-and-green spiked hair. The cool megane senpais, the purple haired tsunderes, suddenly everyone is interested in him. They’re prodigies and upstarts and underdogs and they truly believe that this main character boy is one of them.
So the main character boy maintains his ruse. He touches up his roots at dawn every morning and carefully attends to his gelled spikes and tells absolutely no one about this great, uncanny, unfathomable secret he’s stumbled upon. He wins his competitions left and right. He racks up the acclaim. He’s hailed as a prodigy of all trades, just now bursting onto the scene, and boils to the top of all his candy-haired peers.
He’s rising up, his every dream within his grasp. Until one day he gets a note under his door, taped to an old picture of his Normal Boring self from middle school, that says “You don’t belong”
I very much understand what you're saying, but does anyone remember the skeleton key? And how MK kinda, unlocked himself? Personal theory of mine, but that key totally unlocked the seal. I feel like, while it would have only been there for a short time, it makes sense.
If MK believes it's still there and limiting his powers to control them better, why would he worry? Like a placebo of sorts. The seal is keeping him in his own comfort zone, so it's not like he can just have too much power. It's the Monkey King's doing, some silly little key isn't going to do anything, right? And MK just continues hero-ing, none the wiser. And that's also probably how he's survived everything he's been through thus far. It also explains why the seal is never brought up again, because it's broken seven episodes in.
I mean, he's burned by the Samadhi Fire twice and survives nearly completely unscathed. That's pretty invincible if you ask me.
Crack theory:
So, between 1x01 where Wukong puts a seal on MK to limit his powers, and 1x09 where Wukong says "Look kid, using that much power—your body can't handle it." I'm wondering if the seal (which lowkey I'm kinda waiting to be brought up again) ALSO sealed away MK's Moneky form, and I'm wondering if MK broke it in 4x07 Pitiful Creatures.
I want this to be an actual poll, so I'm gonna need a REALLY big sample size, so do ANYTHING you can to get this around! Reblog it! Kung-pow-penis me, if you have to! Wreck my notifications! Just do ANYTHING!
Hear me out, it was for a really, really stupid reason. Like he fell out of a tree or something. Or got bit by a baby monkey.

THE FACT THEY NEVER EXPLAIN WHY MACAQUE WAS INJURED HERE??? LITERALLY WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THIS.
Cuddle Pile
Night had fallen and the shiver was curled up in their shared nest, hidden away by Nightmare's tentacles. Well, all of them except one. A lone thresher shark sat curled up at the entrance to the Trench. Despite his poor eyesight in the dark, he scanned the area for any possible dangers to his shiver. It was a ritual that he had started almost as soon as he arrived in the Depths. Cross hated the idea of the others sleeping unguarded, even if they did have two leviathans watching over them all. So he took it upon himself to be a lookout.
He yawned and watched the bubbles that escaped him float up into the darkness where he lost sight of them quickly. He wasn't tired, not at all. That was why he was absolutely able to notice that someone was sneaking up on him and did not let out any sort of shocked cry.
"Heya Crossy," Killer curled his tail with Cross's much longer one. "It's time to go to sleep, ain't it?" Killer was shoved away for his efforts.
"He's right you know," Horror's voice was a sleepy rumble as he scooped up the thresher. "Off to the nest with you," The great white and bull shark swam back to the rest of the shiver, Cross's wiggles and complaints dying not even half way there. Dust, who was also apparently awake, moved to the side to fit in the tired guard. Horror settled Cross in the nest before he and Killer took their spots again and curled around everyone.
Dust let out a soft purr as he cuddled into Cross, who was taking longer and longer blinks as he sat in the nest. He mumbled out some word of affection that the others couldn't quite make out, but got cuddles and kisses for it regardless. It wasn't too long after that the shiver, and Dream who had been watching them, fell back asleep in a pile of cuddles and purrs, all in the safety of Nightmare's tentacles.
