Giggles escape your lips as you hide in your little fort to read. It is late, and you have stolen extra blankets from the maids thanks to a certain mischievous Prince. Having made a blanket fort at the foot of your bed, you sip your hot chocolate, letting your mind wander. 

    “Ooh Belle” the singing voice is slurred and loud in the silent night. Sighing as you pull yourself from your book, you crawl out of the fort and set down your hot chocolate.

    “Clavis?” Opening your door, he staggers in and you snort. 

    “I thought you didn’t drink?” You can smell the alcohol on him but he shakes his head. 

    “I did not drink anything other than grape juice” Clavis instists, but the flush of his cheeks and slur of his words tell you otherwise.  

    “Clavis you are drunk”  The simple observation has the prince pouting.

"Nokto gave me grape juice though" Clavis tries to defend and you sigh. Hearing the annoyance Clavis tries to cheer you up, staggering over ro you. 

“I am not drunk. Can a drunk person do this?” Clavis staggers up with his arms outstretched to you. His foot catches the blanket and he tumbles to the floor, cushioned by your fort.  

“You are not doing anything.” A sigh falls from your lips as you cross your arms and glance longingly at the destroyed fort. So much for your quiet and peaceful night. 

“But.. I sent you my love. Did you not get it?” The words catch you off guard and you look down at him. Quicker than you can act, his hands grab you and he pulls you onto the collapsed fort and against his chest. 

“What? Clavis…” Unsure of what the Prince is talking about, you try to struggle away. Clavis only holds you tighter, his amber eyes pleading. 

"I showed you how much I love you" he tries to explain and you raise your eyes at him, caught off guard by his confession. 

"You destroyed-" his lips catch you off and you taste the wine he drank. 

"Grape juice my ass" murmuring against his lips you melt against him. Mind swimming and wondering if this was real, or just a drunk Clavis at work. Slowly all the little interactions the two of you have clicked. Shutting your eyes you melt against the chaotic prince, chasing the sweet taste of wine on his lips.

A sigh falls from your lips as you look over the balcony of the mansion, glancing at the moonlight shining amongst the flowers of the garden below. You can see the faint outline of a lunar moth, fluttering amongst the flowers and in the distance the outline of Paris. 

Like every night you rest your head against a column, enjoying the quiet air of Paris. Your brain reflects how you got to this point, how much you have adjusted to life in the 19th Century. Modern life feels like a dream as you look down at the gardens. 

"Ma Cherie?" Arms wrap tight around your waist as your lover hugs you, his warmth enveloping your back. His chin rests on your shoulder and you turn to capture his lips. 

"What are you thinking about?" Breaking the kiss he looks at you worriedly.

"How much I love it here, I am so happy I followed you that day." You admit softly, heat enveloping your cheeks. Comtes fingers trail along your stomach as he rubs comforting circles along it. A hum leaves his throat, kisses pepper your cheek. 

"I am so glad you decided to stay. As long as you are happy, I love having you by my side. Tell me Ma Cherie, is there anything you desire?" Hos voice a soothing purr in your ear you shake your head. 

"As long as I have you, I don't care where we are." You kiss his lips again, snuggling closer to him as a quick breeze causes goosebumps to rise along your arms. 

Music fills the silence of the night, Mozart's piano catching the wind. Comte steps away from you and you turn. He extends his hand and bows. 

"May I have this dance?" You smile at the twinkle in his golden eyes before you take his hand. Following his lead the two of you dance, your night dress spinning around you. Pulling you slightly closer than normally acceptable, you catch whiffs of Comtes cologne and you relax in his arms. Resting your head on his shoulders, pure happiness fills your heart as you see the faint skyline of Paris in the distance. 

The two of you dance for as long as Mozart plays, you aren't even sure if it is two songs or more, the composer not taking a break between the tunes. The music fades though, leaving the night once again silently, and the dance ends. Spinning you around, you turn back to Comte, your brain short circuiting when you turn. 

Down on one knee, Comte is holding a beautiful ring, it catches the light and your eyes fill with tears before he can even speak. 

“Ever since I met you at the Louvre, I knew I wanted you by my side. Mc, will you marry me?" The breath leaves your lungs as the tears fill your eyes. As one slips down your cheek you reach for him. 

"Abel- yes" your heart has never felt so full as you pull him close to you, meeting his lips in a passionate kiss. The chill of metal slides along your finger as he hands you the engagement ring. His fingers slip to your face to cup your cheeks and his fingers wipe the tears from your eyes. 

"You truly have made me the happiest man in the world. Mc, please stay with me" Comte whispers, his forehead resting against yours, you swear you can hear both your hearts racing in the now calm night.

" I promise, I will never leave your side" you whisper back, your lips sealing the promise under the moonlight.
