Part 2

You always had big dreams, you always knew you were meant to live in the city but god, was the city ruthless. Fresh out of university, you were sold the promise of getting a job if you had a degree but here you were bouncing from one building to the next, munching on a sandwich as you ran from one interview to another.

You had done everything right, you had done everything potential employers had asked of you while you were in college. You had a good GPA, volunteered in community outreach events, landed an impressive internship and yet every day for the past month you come home to your tiny apartment with no job. There was nothing more you could have done to make yourself stand out from the rest, you had exhausted every single resource your university provided and yet here you were sitting with an exclusive piece of paper that has now left you with a mountain of debt. You watched on with pure envy as the others in your graduating class continue to get the job ahead of you simply because their parents knew somebody that mattered. A top candidate is what they would call you but at the end of the day, they would always give you the same answer, accompanied with a light encouraging pat.

“You look promising but we’re currently on a hiring freeze and can only accept a limited amount of people. Please try again next time!”

Next time, you huff. There wouldn’t be a next time if you don’t find a way to pay for your ever increasing rent and not to mention the student loans you were drowning in. You did any odd job you could find during the days where you had no interviews scheduled but every other night, you spend your hours at the convenience store around the corner, working the graveyard shift. You’d do anything to get out of the job, to finally avoid having to listen to old drunk men heckle at you or young teenagers trying to shoplift because you were so damn tired of it all. You weren’t meant to live the sub-par life, this wasn’t why you worked so hard to get out of that deadbeat town but maybe everyone back home was right and that maybe you just weren’t meant for the city.

Your mother’s starting to grow suspicious because the amount of money you send home to her seems to dwindle slightly with each month. You lie and say that there’s a problem with the pipes in your apartment and that you had to take out a few extra hundreds to get that covered but how long could you keep her fooled? She was someone you could never really lie to for long, all she had to do was raise her voice at you and the truth would come spilling out in the matter of seconds. She was dependent on you and you felt yourself grow increasingly worried with each day. So, you decide to cut down on costs in every single way possible just so you could vaguely keep the amount you sent home every month at the same value, making sure that your mum was happy.

After a very long week of surviving on just one meal per day, you light up at the thought of finally being able to meet Wendy, your best friend you had met while you were in university. You make your way to a quiet café downtown, trying your best to appear joyful and put together but like always, she saw right through you. She spends the next half an hour trying to get you to spill the beans, to talk about your problems and after much coaxing you finally do.

Wendy sits opposite you a sly smirk on her face as she mulls over your financial predicament. You already begin shaking your head no. Whenever she had that look on, it had meant that she had an idea and usually it was a bad one. It was the same look she had when she convinced you to go skinny dipping at the lake that chilly autumn night, the same look when she convinced you it would be a good idea to eat some space cakes the weekend before one of your midterms. You just knew that that look spelled trouble.

“No. Wendy, I know that look,” You warn, holding up your finger. “I know where this is going.”

“Oh, come on, you haven’t even heard what my idea is yet!”

“That’s because I already know it’s going to be a crap one.”

“Listen, just hear me out! You can say no if you’re not into it.”

“Ugh, fine,” You say, rolling your eyes. “It better be worth my time.”

That smirk returns to her face and you know you’ve just made a mistake. The hardest part about getting you to follow along with her plans was getting you to listen to it in the first place but now that you were listening, Wendy knew that you would eventually say yes.

“Okay, listen carefully. Two words, 4 syllables and the answer to all your problems,” She smiles and you only lift your eyebrows in confusion, urging her to continue.

“Sugar. Baby.”

➵  Summary: you’re hanging out with your best friend Yugyeom one night when the conversation you two are having takes a weird turn.

“Have you ever had your heart broken?”

You furrowed your eyebrows at the sudden question, your eyes shooting up to his face as you continued to rest your head against his shoulder, trying to read his expression. Yugyeom didn’t look at you, he kept staring ahead at the night sky, the city below with its bright lights and big billboards that could still be seen from where you two were not fazing him at all. He waited patiently for your answer which only made you let out a small sigh before replying.

“Yes.”

Your voice was quiet but Yugyeom still heard it, you could tell from the way his muscles tensed next to your body.

“I didn’t know…” he spoke after a few minutes of silence, his voice soft as if not to disturb the peace between you two.

You raised your head this time, clutching the thin blanket that was wrapped around you tighter before shrugging, dismissing the statement. “It wasn’t such a big deal, you don’t have to worry about it.”

The boy wasn’t satisfied with your answer though, shaking his head as he kept looking nowhere in particular, too deep in thoughts searching for another question to return your gaze.

This is what you two did on most nights when you were free and decided to hang out. You’d come on this hill and sit there for hours, staring at the sky and the city buzzing with activity. It was nice to stop and relax for a while when everything was still moving, talking about your feelings, fears and everything there is to talk about. Despite talking about everything, Yugyeom’s question seemed out of place tonight. You noticed something was off about him from the moment he came to pick you up from your house, but you ignored it, not wanting to make him uncomfortable or anything like that. He knew he could always talk to you about whatever was bothering him, so you gave the boy his space.

“Did it hurt?”

“Like a motherfucker.”

This answer made him finally turn towards you, watching as the wind blew softly through your locks, making you reach up and put a stray piece behind your ear. This time around, you were the one who didn’t meet his gaze, the memory he just awakened making past feelings come rushing right back, hitting you harder than expected.

But Yugyeom wasn’t stupid, he knew how you were feeling just by looking at you and seeing your sudden change in emotion made him a little upset. He didn’t mean to make you feel like that, he just wanted to know your answer. He had to know.

“Does it still hurt? Did you manage to overcome it?”

You paused, taken aback by those sudden questions. What was going on in that pretty little head of his tonight? Did he want to ruin your night or something because it was working.

“Yes and no. Yugyeom, what the hell has gotten into you?” turning around to look at his dumb face, your eyes widened as you were tackled into a strong hug, his hands coming around to embrace your waist beneath the blanket while his head buried itself in your soft hair.

You two sat like that in silence for a few minutes when you finally decided to raise your hands and awkwardly return the hug, patting him gently on the back. Just then, Yugyeom pulled back, resting his warm hands on your shoulders while staring at you, not breaking eye contact.

“Then, will you let me fix it? I-I mean…it’s not like you need fixing or anything, no! Your feelings! C-Can I help you get–“

Seeing no other way to shut him up, you leaned down and planted a sweet kiss on his cheek, smiling brightly when your eyes meet again, his wide orbs along with his slightly pink face making him look completely adorable.

“Yes, please.”

Sun Sign: Virgo (Earth)

Jinyoung is a very interesting mix of Mark and Jackson, and I say this quite literally. His Sun and Moon signs are identical to Mark’s, while his Life Path number and Chinese Zodiac are identical to Jackson’s. The first half of his MBTI is identical to Mark’s, while the second half is identical to Jackson’s. It’s… kind of weird.

Virgos, on a good day, are extremely dedicated, hard-working people. They are resourceful and helpful, and you definitely would not hate having a Virgo around in a sticky situation. They will be more than willing to come up with a plan to get you out of it. Jinyoung, though he can be extremely savage, is definitely resourceful, dedicated, and hard-working. If you’re on his good side, he will 100% have your back and help you out when you need a hand.

On a bad day, Virgos can be very critical and uptight… but that doesn’t sound like Jinyoung at all, right? I mean, he’s only the mom of the group. And idols don’t get the ‘mom’ reputation for being critical and uptight! (LOL) I think he can definitely be critical of the Got7 members, but he’s also critical of himself. And, while he is one of the more lively members (kind of), he’s definitely got his serious moments, and he’s such a hard worker that he tends to put work before fun.

Virgos are also known for being witty, and I’m pretty sure Jinyoung is the wittiest of the group. BamBam is all about physical comedy, but Jinyoung is about smart comedy. And that’s what wit truly is - smart humor. You can tell Jinyoung also finds himself funny and appreciates his own sense of humor. As he should!

Moon Sign: Aries (Fire)

Jinyoung’s got that earth sun sign/fire moon sign thing going on. Calm and levelheaded on the outside, enthusiastic and passionate on the inside.

Aries are known to be one of the more energetic and bold signs. Even though Jinyoung is introverted, he definitely has one of the stronger presences in the group. He’s for sure JB’s right hand man, wouldn’t you agree? They are also known for being very caring and devoted. Yes, Jinyoung is extremely savage, but we all know he loves his members and Aghases so much. His savageness comes from a place of pure love!

On the other hand, Aries can be kind of… bossy. And proud and stubborn and a little self-centered. So, this is definitely where his savage side comes into play. Yes, it’s done out of love, but he wouldn’t have the ability to be savage if he weren’t an Aries moon.

Chinese Astrology: Wood Dog

As I stated in Jackson’s study, dogs in the Chinese Zodiac are seen just as dogs in real life: they’re loyal, honest, and courageous friends. They’re very giving, but they can also be guarded and very defensive.

They’re very good at accomplishing goals quickly because they feel they know best and tend to be somewhat bossy. They are extremely intelligent, though, so they have a right to feel they know best. And even though Dogs usually appear calm, their minds and hearts are always active. This describes Jinyoung pretty well because he is one of the more quiet members, but he’s definitely always thinking. Dogs have a propensity to be Introverts, and Jinyoung certainly fits into that category.

Dogs can also be somewhat cynical with sharp tongues, so there’s that savage part of him again.

Numerology: Life Path 9

Those born with the life path number 9 are very interesting individuals. They have very strong beliefs, and they use those beliefs to fuel their ambitions and goals. They also really want to help people, so their goals usually revolve around serving others in some sort of way. Being a kpop idol may not be regarded as a ‘humanitarian’ career, but it certainly is! Music brings joy to so many people around the world, and Jinyoung is doing nothing but serving humanity and helping people by sharing his passion for music and entertainment with everyone.

Number 9s usually have a very authoritative aura about them, and people tend to think they are in charge. As I mentioned earlier, Jinyoung definitely seems like he’s JB’s right hand man and second-in-command of Got7. And he’s not even the oldest or second oldest. He just has that natural ability to lead, and people are more apt to listen to him than most others.

Speaking of listening, 9s kind of have a tendency to be a little… preachy. They think they know best, and they can sometimes do a terrible job listening to other people. But they make up for it with their incredible charisma and creativity. A lot of 9s make amazing teachers, counselors, musicians, comedians, or actors because of these traits.

MBTI: ISFJ

Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging

Jinyoung is extremely Introverted, and while not quite as Introverted as Mark, he’s very close. He’s certainly one of the more quiet members of the group, and it’s very clear he thinks before he speaks. He doesn’t blurt things out, and this shows his mind is active on the inside. 

Jinyoung scored pretty highly as a Sensing individual. He likes to experience things for himself, and he’s not the best at abstract thinking or imagining how things could be. He looks at the small details first in order to get a view of the big picture. Sensing people are usually big fans of visual art, sports, or activities in which they engage their senses.

Jinyoung’s scores for the third dimension were much more even, but he got 2 points higher for Feeling. I can really see him going both ways, though, because he does seem to be more serious and logical yet very caring and loving towards the members (even if he doesn’t show it outwardly - or shows the opposite. I’m looking at you, Yugyeom).

Finally, Jinyoung typed as Judging which means he is governed more by his judging dimension - Feeling. Like I said, though, he’s fairly equal when it comes to Thinking/Feeling, so this is why it’s so confusing to know how truly feels. He seems like a total savage, but he’s actually very caring.

Jinyoung knows he has to cut back on caffeine if he wants to live past the age of thirty. And maybe getting a triple shot espresso at 8 pm isn’t the best of ideas. The long evening shifts he’s forced to pull aren’t much fun either though, and business is pretty much dead, but he can’t afford to close up early. And okay maybe he should switch to tea, but then he wouldn’t get to talk to the cute barista at the coffee shop across the street. And that, would be a real loss. His excursions to the shop are pretty much the only thing keeping him alive during evening shifts.
