🐠Tang🐠

Tang was born in Serendipity to his father; a traveling Seawing merchant who fell in love with an alluring Rain/Sea hybrid, Tang's mother. Who it turns out was the illegitimate daughter of a Seawing prince and ended up disappearing under not so mysterious circumstances. Tang was born with a bilateral coloboma, and as a result is mostly blind. He can see varying degrees of light and shadow, but struggled growing up in the busy bustle of the Bazaar. Most of his time as a dragonet was spent attempting to escape to the beach. Much to the chagrin of his lonely father, Tang preferred to be alone, surfing and honing his craft of wood carving. He learned how to carve his own surfboards, and soon branched out into large decorative wooden pieces of various ocean animals & scenery. His one friend has been trying to convince him to apply to the Possibility School of Arts, but Tang's father, who has been lying about the circumstances of his mother's death, wants to keep him as close to home as possible. What they both don't know, is that Tang is an animus. He's somehow gone his entire life without ever realizing that he can perform magic. When Tang decides to apply and is accepted into the Rose Winglet, it is only a matter of time before his powers, and his past, finally get a chance to present themselves.

This was by far the hardest pose I've ever done, I kinda jumped straight into extreme perspective/foreshortening work without practicing a whole lot first. For my first time I think I did alright

I was gonna do wayyyy more for this ref sheet, I was gonna do a turnaround, her cloak pattern, her tattoos, an expression sheet, her scepter, but all that got shafted when I realized that I FUCKIN HATE DOING REF SHEETS, IT'S SO BORING AND FRUSTRATING

I also came to the realization that I don't really like her design that much, it feels kinda boring and the colors aren't very representative of her character. Blue just does not fit her. So I'll probably end up revisiting her in the future to redesign her, but I am not doing another ref sheet, the next time I need one I'm just gonna commission someone because they're a pain in the ass

This character is still nameless and that makes me sad

Here is the last character from this batch of descriptions, her name is Zostera and she's a human-Atlantean(?) hybrid. I was really unhappy with her at first, mainly because I thought her face looked really weird (I think its mostly her hair and her "ears" honestly). That, and her armor is just really fuckin ugly, but I wasn't too upset about that because I can always just give her a different outfit. Overall she's grown on me a little. Still not that proud of her but I'm definitely gonna revisit her in the future :)

Here is her description, as soon as I read "aquamarine skinned" I knew I wanted to do some kind of weird fish lady. And as soon as I read "ripped, masculine clothes" I knew she had to be a tomboy. The makeup kinda contradicts that, but I gave her purple accents in her skin to imply that the "eye shadow" is natural. She also has glowing purple blood, because why not. Here are some details about her:

Zostera's name is based off the dwarf seahorse, I planned to make her more seahorse-coded but I literally had zero ideas for that outside the name

She is 5'1" (SHORT QUEEEEEEEEN✨)

She can breathe underwater and on the surface

She has excellent night vision, making her eyes sensitive to light

She is a warrior who aims to unite her two worlds, despite being rejected from both for being a half-blood

She is tough as nails and could absolutely kick your ass

The weird coral stalks on her body are actually sensory organs, and with them she can detect vibrations in the air, sort of like faux ears

When she's underwater, she can use them to echolocate and communicate with other ocean folk

If her coral stalks are damaged, it could cause serious long term brain damage, loss of memory, loss of cognitive function, loss of motor skills, and loss of certain senses. Imagine a concussion but your brain is on the outside of your skull

Her coral stalks can glow, but not that bright

When she was young, everyone in her home village called her a multitude of colorful mean names, among them being "gargler", which is actually a slur towards ocean folk. Dang ol racism

Because she has glowing purple blood, her face also glows purple when she blushes, which doesn't happen very often but you're welcome to try :)

The 2nd character in the batch of descriptions I generated, Fluorence! :D Named that because all his jewelry is fluorescent and glows in the dark. I'm really happy with how he turned out, I love him sm <3 Definitely my favorite of the characters I did for this

Here's his description, his was much more straightforward than the last one, everything about him just screamed "SEXY BUFF DEMON MAN" and that's exactly what I made :) Here are some details about him:

Fluorence is an ageless demon from hell

He works as an event planner and takes his job incredibly seriously

He has a very uptight and strict attitude when he's working, but once he lets loose, he knows how to fuckin' PARTY

He is 4'4" tall (SHORT KING GANGGGGG)

He can bench 2,000 lbs

He is happily married

He can open portals using the tattoo on his wrist, which is how he got out of hell

He is physically incapable of getting drunk

He loves slow jazz

He despises country (same oml)

He is a closeted bottom

NAME THEM PLEASE

This character is a part of a character design challenge that I got the idea for from an episode of Drawfee (love drawfee sm eheheehe) where they generated a description for a character using THIS WEBSITE and they each made a character based off the same description. What I'm doing here is completely ignoring the usage of a single description, and instead I used 3 different descriptions to each make a different character with

Here is the description I used for this character, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do as I was reading it, right up until the "long unkempt mutton chops". Those really through me for a loop. I omitted quite a few details, some on purpose and some by accident (I straight up did not see the 5'5" height, I just read "tall" and rolled with it) Here are some little facts and details about them:

They (and their species) currently don't have a name, and I want you all to help with that :D preferably something ethereal sounding or space related

They are androgynous and use they/them pronouns

They have a bit of an ego due to rising up the ranks so fast

They are 100% not the main character, no matter how much they think they are

They are 8'6" tall

Their species speaks in the voices of all their past ancestors, making them sound sometimes male and sometimes female

The crescent symbol thing in the background is the mark that they have across their back, I just didn't wanna do a turnaround

The color of their eyes represents their rank in society (Lowest rank = red, highest rank = purple

The color of their flames represent how close they are to reaching the next rank

Their spear is a placeholder because I didn't want to do complicated weapon design in a character design challenge

The flames on the sides of their face were meant to be the "long unkempt mutton chops"

I forgot to include the pointed nose so I thought that maybe they have a helmet to go with the rest of their armor that has a pointed nose

They have zygodactyl feet, which goes weirdly well with the pointed nose idea. I did not mean to make this character as bird-coded as I did but I'm not unhappy with it

I wasn't a huge fan of Winter's character up until I reread book 7, I always thought he was an absolute insufferable prick for really stupid reasons, but looking back he has a completely justifiable reason for his hatred of NightWings outside of his IceWing culture

I so desperately want more of Hailstorm, even just a Winglet book of his life back in the Ice Palace exploring his identity crisis and choosing between the life that was forced upon him versus the life where he was truly happy and had real friends would be incredible. There's a Hailstorm/Pyrite MAP on YouTube called Once Upon a December and its SO WELL MADE AND I LOVE IT SO FRICKIN MUCH and its pretty much exactly what I wanna see from a Hailstorm POV book and here's a link to it just watch it - https://youtu.be/_duSPWJzxVk

This project was pretty straightforward; I didn't wanna do a super crazy background like my Moon fanart, so I just went with the aurora borealis and some delicious rim lighting (the aurora can go fuck itself for being so hard to draw traditionally, it kinda looks like shit ikik). I feel like I'm getting a better grasp on how to do color and pick good looking color schemes. Before I would only do complimentary and try to do as much contrast as possible, but I've learned that analogous color schemes look SOOOO GOOD and I can't believe I've done so few projects where I go for harmony instead of contrast

I also feel like I'm getting better at dragon poses and making them more dynamic, this pose isn't super crazy or anything but the head angle with the turning neck isn't something I've really done before, and I think I did pretty good

WHO AM I (Hailstorm/Pyrite)

Not happy with this one :C

This one was an absolute mess pretty much all the way through and I kinda hate how it turned out. I was gonna do shading but I wanted to start something else instead of trying to fix something I wasn't having fun with

The flames were supposed to spell out "WHO AM I" and in my head I was like YEAH I'LL BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY SEE THE LETTERS ONCE I COLOR IT and that didn't turn out to well. I learned something at least so I'd still call it a win in my book

I'll definitely redo this one at some point and actually make something cohesive that doesn't hurt my brain to look at
