Layla 🌈 Musa's Believix
Layla looks so good in these shapes, this was so much fun.
I changed some aspects of Musa’s transformation, just cause otherwise this wouldn’t have been as much of a “design” challenge. I gave her knee guards because Musa’s trouser’s ended at such an awkward length, I couldn’t figure out how to make that work for the life of me. Plus knee braces are like a part of Layla’s character to me ever since her season 2 design.
Musa’s power and Layla’s personality are such a good fit by the way. She could easily be the fairy of rhythm with this transformation!

I have been sitting on this design for so long, it’s funny how my sudden desire to paint landscape scenery inspired me to finish it. I loved working on it, but it also taught me how much more I need to learn about scenic lighting 😂
Some stuff from the sketch backlog catalogue!
1. Faragonda’s fairy form. She’s the Fairy of Conservation in butterfly verse, here depicted in Enchantix.
2. Princeps Oritel Aglissier and his wife Vazul Marion Aglissier, the two heads of the Dominian Empire (lore post pending, I know). They are wearing megaformal hypermagnate, reserved for royal events of the highest importance. In good Dominian fashion, the bigger the sleeve, the bigger the status/pompousness of the event.
3. Melodean dresses for Musa (1) Galatea (2-3) and Musa again (4-5). Dress nr1 and nr2 of each girl represents the outfits they would wear to the same occasion. (The very first dress is also just the last dress but seen from the back and represents something I would see Musa wear to a formal event where she was the guest of honour (Melody, honour your guardian fairy 2k21)
4. Baby Daphne! Butterfly verse Daphne started attending Alfea when she was 13, far below the average age bracket. Dress 1 is my final design for her Basic Manifest (aka first transformation), dress 2 was just my initial idea, but it was too 80s and not fantasy enough for my taste. The third dres is just general formalwear she would have worn to mee the headmistress.
I was preparing the process video for the rest of the girls and I couldn’t help myself. Instead of finally finishing Tecna I re-did Stella, because there were so many things bugging me on the first version. So, enjoy!

Watching Fate has me daydreaming about s1 and how a live action could adapt Bloom and Stella’s original first meeting. I wish they leant into the fairytale setting a twinge bit more with the costumes!

All of these represent the look I imagine their transformation takes later in life, after they’ve done some maturation of their magic and themselves.

A small design experiment I recently did.
Step 1: take the cursed early 2000s Believix outfits and translate the shapes into modern (late 2010s) street fashion.
Step 2: take the new shapes and fashion trends and make them more magical, making a fashion updated version of Believix.
Step 3: new, fashionable Believix, but this time it’s based on Solarian fashion!
I hc Believix to be a form that changes a lot with time and what the people the form draws from for power think fairies should appear like. It’s a sort of mimicry to make it easier for the fairis to meld into a given non-magic society. To get Solarian Believix the girls would need to connect to Solarian non-magic people, have them put their faith into the hands of fairies. (As of yet in my AU I only plan for Bloom and Roxy to get that form, but here you have all of them regardless.)
Might do the same for more realms in the future to get a grasp on what I want their fashion to be!
