Arms aching, and palms sweating in the summer sunlight, you strolled through the street, carrying a large brown paper bag with groceries inside, most of them a little too heavy for you, and you silently cursed yourself for not bringing the car. The sun burning down into the skin if your neck, you longed for the air-conditioning in your apartment to relieve your sticky body from the heat.  Children laughed as they played with the water spraying from the fire hydrant at the side of the street where you’d lived for little over four years now, the lush green trees shading you momentarily from the harsh sunlight as you meandered on, huffing under your breath as you juggled the food you’d purchased. The area you’d chosen to call your home was oddly suburban, given the fact it was situated within a thriving city. It seemed the perfect place to raise kids, and you smiled to yourself as you pictured your own children playing carelessly in the sunshine.

Five years ago, you had met the love of your life – Kim Taehyung. He’d introduced himself at a frat party you had attended with your close friend, Ellie, and from the moment you’d locked eyes with him, something in you had known he was the one. As the seasons change, it undoubtedly brings out the worst in you in the form of sneezing and coughing, high fevers and a sniffling nose. It leaves you in bed all day as you listen to the pitter-patter of rain on the bedroom window’s ledge while lying beneath too many heavy blankets, trying to keep warm, and dozing off from the cold medicine that doesn’t seem to be working.

When Hoseok had told you, “I’m in apartment 2E, feel free to drop by whenever you’d like”, he’s not entirely sure what he had in mind in terms of how you would follow through on that request. But this isn’t exactly what he had in mind.

All he knows is that he has a difficult time trying to develop a grasp of diction as he stands in the doorframe of his apartment, gripping the doorknob with a bit more force than necessary, staring at the figure standing opposite of him. You are just as stunning as he remembers, the only thing that is different about this particular encounter is the fact that you look as if you have just stepped out of some winter wonderland catalog given with how many coats and scarfs you have drowned yourself in.

And you look positively adorable in it.

He swallows, forcing himself to stop staring at the way your lips are covered by the scarf, the way your wide eyes are studying him, the way you also look so soft and vulnerable which in turn makes him soft and vulnerable. He tries for a smile, but he doesn’t have to try for the surprised quality in his tone as he opens his mouth. “H-Hey Y/N, what are you doing here?”
