Lovely and her powers Part 1: D.A.M.N. Lovely

○ As stated by Erik, Lovely was a very powerful electro-energetic ( "Their Aura is lit up like a fucking Christmas tree!" thanks Sam ) so I imagine her being able to make lightning fall from the sky and from her hands. And she uses them all the time: she doesn't need a phone charger anymore, she can lightly "zap" Vincent when he tries to distract her from her studies, she can defend herself better than ever etc...

Most importantly, she LOVES them: I mean, they have literally saved her life and altered her appearance ( my Lovely has Lichtenberg scars ). They are a part of her.

So losing them certainly didn't help her transition from human to vampire...

sometimes plushies make me cry because it’s like. they’re little guys made to be loved. their only purpose is to be held and hugged and loved. we made them because we love making things and we love loving things. and they’re so cute

Oh good god it's gotten worse

Okay, so I just saw a tiktok saying "hey, ao3 is not tiktok. Do not censor words, especially in the tags." I stg people are losing brain cells. The tiktoker then proceeded to show an example of the tag they saw which was:

"s..cidal ideation"

I don't know who needs to, once again, hear this, but you are stopping the tagging system, and filtration system from working.

People censor words on platforms like tiktok to stop the algorithm from picking up their video and automatically taking it down or restricting it.

A tagging system works so that other people can easily filter the content they do and don't want to see. So if some had "suicidal ideation" in their filtered tags so that they won't see things containing that subject matter, by censoring the word suicidal, you have now stopped the tagging/filtration system from working and now the individual is going to see content that they had made sure to filter out.

Please stop censoring words and/or phrases. Especially in tags. You are literally stopping the system from working and doing its job. Ao3 (and Tumblr) is not tiktok. The tags are there for a reason. Don't censor them.

Lovely and her powers Part 2:

Post-inversion

○ Losing her powers was the worst. Lovely desperately tried to hide to Vincent how weak and hollow she felt, but between his enhanced senses and their progeny-maker bond, it was almost impossible.

○ Her scars became not a symbol of her strength but rather a constant reminder of what she has lost. A cruel twist of fate: she can no longer use them, but it seems she can't forget them either.

It was incredibly frustrating. All this work to accept them and to learn how to control her core and for what ? Nothing, back to square one.

○ Bloodlust was an absolute nightmare, too. She was completely out of control, and without his capacity to invoque her, Vincent had no choice but to physically restrain her while trying to talk to her.

During those episodes, she was either crying and pleading for blood or, on the contrary, particularly aggressive. In both cases, she always screamed : "It hurts ! / Why aren't you helping me ? / Are you not supposed to help me ? / I thought you loved me !". Anything to escape Vincent and to quench her thirst.

○ Vincent, remembering his own bloodlust and how he was with William, never blamed Lovely for her behavior during those episodes.

Plus, he tried as much as possible to not constantly apologize in order to not guilt-trip her, but sometimes, he just didn't know what to say.

☝️ a bit of fluff 🥹. ( I share the headcanon that Lovely and Vincent are the most tactile couple of all Dahlia. )

Regarding the first 5 minutes of Vincent’s newest audio: Friendly reminder that Adam was hiding in Lovely’s home waiting to kidnap them, likely watching that whole exchange

I’d like to imagine, not for any good reason, that Adam is still alive. But not whole.

Very illogical ramble below:

I’d like to think his decapitated head is sitting far away from his limp body. Adam’s eyes have seen every crevasse of the basement room, he’s counted every brick on the wall, every strand of web spun the the spiders who inhabit the room. He’s watched his blood oxidise and turn into dust. He’s watched his body decay and be eaten by animals who’d stumble upon it.

But Adam’s head still rests there, still alive. Vampires don’t need their heart, what good is blood circulation to an already undead being. They don’t need air, what good are the lungs in his chest. Without his stomach he no longer feels his own hunger. But his mind does. All he knows is the taste of Lovely’s blood, all he craves, all he ever thinks about is their flavour. One last touch, one last look, one last taste. One drop and he’d be satiated.

He’d wonder if they still say his name instead of Vincent’s, if their cries of ‘no’ still came out as ‘more’, wondered if their blood still tasted like heaven. Oh how he’d relish in the thought.

Adam’s decapitated head still sentient as he hears Bright Eyes and Fred getting attacked by Quinn, Adam hearing Sam turn them, Adam laughing at the irony of it all.

Adam’s decapitated head seeing the light as another vampire hears his laughter. Adam feeling touch as he’s moved from his home on the basement floor.

Adam’s living, seeing, knowing head sitting mounted on a wall as a piece of Quinn’s collection.

Adam wondering, but never asking, why there’s another podium next to him, a named place with no head. Adam reading the name ‘Samuel Collins’ over and over again, wondering who would be placed next to him after all his time alone.
