For some stupid reason, I woke up thinking about the image of Greylock shouting:
"Mi gente latino" (that meme of Jennifer Lopez that went viral a while ago)
And Cedric in the background with the biggest face of confusion and secondhand embarrassment in the world.
In general, the image of Greylock doing silly things pops into my mind every now and then, but today I can't stop thinking about that damn "Mi gente latino" audio.
Your fanfic Not Even in My Worst Nightmares reminds me of these lines from Good Luck, Babe:
When you wake up next to him in the middle of the night With your head in your hands, you're nothing more than his wife And when you think about me, all of those years ago You're standing face to face with "I told you so" You know I hate to say, "I told you so" You know I hate to say, but, I told you so
Greylock's point of view, since he can't fathom the idea of Cedric marrying King Magnus.
Sorry if this has been mentioned beforeβI have a bad memory.
Oh, yessssss. I think about that too, it fit very well.

Wait. Does anyone have a hc where Cedric was a bully? I don't even think he had the self-esteem to actively harass others.
But this is very interesting to think about!
I think @cedricthegreatlybeloved it's right about that. I do believe Cedric was rude-mean, but only because people were mean to him first.
I imagine Cedric was an unpleasant teenager who tried not to talk to anyone. Maybe the type who thought he was too smart to speak to his "savage classmates." But not the type to directly bother others. More like the type who made sarcastic comments to certain people (like Greylock, when Cedric calls him a jester).
I can perhaps imagine him plotting revenge with others and, as mentions, casting small curses-jinx on others in secret.
This behavior is actually similar to how he acts as an adult. He plans ways to take over the kingdom and mess with things in the castle. He thinks about taking revenge on his bullies (Roland), but when faced with them, his attitude is submissive.
I suppose it also depends on the person's rank, since Roland is the King. And with Greylock, on the other hand, he seems a bit more defiant.
For example, there's also the way he bothers the children in the castle (Amber, Sofia, James, etc.) Cedric needs a certain sense of security, feeling that he's above someone, to have the courage to bother them. And that quickly fades when he's confronted (like those times when Amber threatens Cedric by saying she'll bring Roland).
I don't think he could have actively been a bully to others.
On the other hand, I do like to think that Cedric was labeled as a problem child, but not necessarily because he was looking to get into trouble.
I believe his clumsy nature and the stigma surrounding him led to a similar situation as in the castle, where whenever something bad happened, they blamed Cedric. In a way, making him responsible for several 'incidents' at school that really weren't his fault.
From what we see in the series, I also think he wasn't good at several subjects and failed frequently. So,
Bad grades + Disasters = Problem child
At least, that was how others saw him.
I refuse to think of Cedric as a bully or problem child. He was much too intelligent for that. Maybe he did some mean things to others, but only because they were mean to him first. Teenage boys get into plenty of mischief.
Good evening, everyone! I'm here cause I just remembered that I can literally draw anything I want.
And my brain said: Greylock fantasizing-dreaming about Cedric.
A few Cedlock drawings (Warning for suggestive content)

Greylock looks distressed because I wanted something along the lines of him fantasizing about something out of his reach, and all that.

Here complete
I like tormenting the poor man with dreams that trouble him, though perhaps these are in a better sense than others I've put him through
