Our Economic System And Our Planetary System Are Now At War. Or, More Accurately, Our Economy Is At War
Our economic system and our planetary system are now at war. Or, more accurately, our economy is at war with many forms of life on earth, including human life. What the climate needs to avoid collapse is a contraction in humanity’s use of resources; what our economic model demands to avoid collapse is unfettered expansion. Only one of these sets of rules can be changed, and it’s not the laws of nature… It seems to me that our problem has a lot less to do with the mechanics of solar power than the politics of human power—specifically whether there can be a shift in who wields it, a shift away from corporations and toward communities, which in turn depends on whether or not the great many people who are getting a rotten deal under our current system can build a determined and diverse enough social force to change the balance of power.

“If a man must be obsessed by something, I suppose a boat is as good as anything, perhaps a bit better than most. A small sailing craft is not only beautiful, it is seductive and full of strange promise and the hint of trouble..”
—E. B. White
Not everything in your life has to make sense right now. It’s okay if you don’t know exactly what your purpose is. It’s cool to take your time, try new things, make mistakes, and laugh them off. Just enjoy the process. You’ll figure it out one piece at a time; just be patient with yourself, and keep going at the right pace.
