Art Lesson: Line Confidence & Shapes

This is focused on the basics for people learning to draw, if you’d like something for the more experienced feel free to send an ask or hop into my dms
—LINE CONFIDENCE—
Line confidence is really important for honing ones art skills. It means the artist doesn’t need many lines for whatever it is they are drawing and usually improves the quality of said drawing.
That being said, the scratchy look can be good for specific things like making something appear creepy, show action, or look intense. But I recommend avoiding that unless you want everything to look creepy or intense.
Ways you can gain more line confidence is to make it impossible to take the lines you’ve drawn back.
If you’re drawing on paper you can use a pen instead of a pencil. That way you get used to committing to the lines you’ve draw and begin to draw better lines. I recommend either a ball point pen or a sharpie.
For digital art practice drawing without using the back button or eraser.
—SHAPES—
Anatomy is hard so it’s a good idea to practice breaking the body into shapes. Any shapes you want. If you like a softer art style keep the shapes round and if you like sharp then do angular shapes. It is art after all, not science. So have fun.
There are no rules when it comes to the shapes in art, it’s all a matter of style. If you want a more realistic style keep the shapes close in size to how they are in reality. If you want something more cartoony exaggerate those shapes and feel free to push the boundaries.

robin and eddie paint steves nails. he pretends to hate it but its one of his favorite things to do
eddie is very artistic. he paints patches for all of his friends (him and steve have a few matching ones) and he loves to draw people for them. if you are his friend he will give you: a portrait of yourself, a mixtape with music you like or that he recommends, and some patches to put on your things (all for birthdays and holidays.) he feels bad that he can't afford anything else but nobody else cares about that
eddie is constantly at family video to hang out with robin and steve. keith either doesn't notice or doesn't care so he just stays there all day.
steve buys jewelry for eddie and doesn't know why eddie cries when he gets it.
eddie cherishes everything people give him. he has a box in his room full of little things people have given him, lots of which are rocks from dustin. he has a separate box for steves gifts which consist of letters, necklaces, flowers, stolen movies, pictures, and some eyeliner steve took from his mom
steve is a very sappy individual. he writes love letters and poems for eddie and picks him flowers. he keeps flirting with him as if hes trying to "get-the-girl" even though thats his boyfriend
kisses. so many kisses. sweet, short ones. hot, heavy, long ones. goodbye and hello kisses. make-outs and stolen pecks.
they have to be touching each other in some way at all times. they are constantly holding hands, touching shoulders, hooking their legs together, arms slung along the others back, playing with hair, ect.
steve initiated the first kiss but eddie made most of the flirty moves. eddie fell first but steve fell harder (not to say he loves eddie more than eddie loves him, he just is so down bad its unhealthy)
eddie, will, and robin are all super close. they gush obout their crushes and joke with each other. its kinda also a support group for being "visibly queer" in a small conservative Indiana town in the 80s
dustin can tell that somethings up but hes too scared to say anything. he has to walk into one of their makeout sessions in the family video break room to fully comprehend it. he loves having two dads.

“What if Chrissy had lived and started hanging out with Eddie?” headcanons (feat. everyone’s favorite uncle, Wayne Munson) Part 1
-Chrissy is saved from getting Vecna’d by Eddie blasting the stereo to try to rouse her from her trance, and once he gets her calmed down enough to let go of him, they sit on his couch and share a joint to calm down
-Both open up about their respective problems (Eddie with school and Chrissy with her parents) and they each come to realize that the other isn’t at all as they expected them to be, and there’s something nice about that. Both secretly think they would like to hang out more in the future, but neither one says anything.
-Wayne Munson returns home from the plant at 10:30 to find his nephew curled up in the couch with a Hawkins High School cheerleader’s head on his shoulder. Both are fast asleep and breathing gently.
-He rouses Eddie, who immediately rouses the cheerleader, and Wayne watches them both scramble to get up and check the time
-Chrissy panics because she has to be home for her curfew in 15 minutes, but Eddie throws his Dio jacket on and says he can get her there in 10
-As she leaves, Chrissy stops and shakes hands with Wayne, with Eddie yelling over his shoulder, “Wayne, this is Chrissy, she’s uh—a friend”
-Wayne thinks he sees a slight blush spread over the girl’s cheeks when Eddie calls her his friend
-As Eddie moves to exit the trailer after Chrissy, Wayne says “Eddie”, and he freezes, knowing the “boy, what did I tell you about bringing girls round here?” lecture is coming
-But Wayne just hesitates, then says gently “she seems real nice” and Eddie swears he hears a hint of pride in his uncle’s voice
-Eddie stammers out a “Yeah. Yeah, she is.” and tries to keep the smile that’s twitching at the corners of his lips at bay
-“One more thing” Wayne says as Eddie turns to leave, and Eddie knows he’s getting the lecture now
-“Wear a condom, son, this trailer’s cramped enough with just the two of us.” Wayne says simply, and claps Eddie on the back as the latter stands in shock in the doorway
