This was too good. I just had to reblog it.

Annie: The first born will be name Brogan, I have also picked out Geary and Nadiya. Armin gets to pick the name for the other two. Have you thought about it Armin? Armin: Please ask me later when I’m done crying from the humiliation.
Attack on SexEd.
Brogan means sturdy, Geary means adaptable, and Nadiya means hope.

can we talk about this I want to talk about this
I’m really glad he’s turning out to actually be a decent guy. With the way he was talking about his sister, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the baby was Levi. If the Ackerman family is hunted and hated, Kenny would have raised Levi without knowing his last name. He would’ve been his “mentor”, not his uncle. And he would’ve done it all for Levi’s protection. The MPs can hunt down an Ackerman in the undercity, but they don’t give two shits about an orphan with no last name.
Now, can the fandom stop making “Levi was abused as a child” headcanons yet?
Really cool!
Ever wondered how are Claymore symbols given to each warrior?
So, in one of the first Claymore chapters, Clare tells Raki that when the warriors are given a rank, they also give them a symbol. A symbol that “represents our name and become our mark” (more or less that’s what she says). But we (or at least me) have never seen the relationship between the names and the symbols. Here’s a hint.
It seems like every symbol is inspired by the first letter or the warrior’s name, but not every letter is “placed” in the symbol the same way. Lets think about our little Clare. You just need to turn the symbol 90º to the left to see a C.

That explains too why Deneve is Clare’s symbols upside down. That way you got a D (well, more like the curve but there it is).

If you still don’t see it, think about how similar Cassandra and Dietrich symbols are. You can see the sam C - D pattern.

That works too with Irene, for example, wich symbol was a cross (the vertical stick + her first letter, I)
Simple, isnt it? And some of then you wouldnt even need to turn them to see a letter!

omg Is that a circle? Do we know any warrior with a name starting with O? I think there was one, something like Olivia or Odulia or…OPHELIA Thats it! Is there any other symbol with a circle?
Oh! Look!

Do you recognize it? Yes, that’s Quennie’s symbols! Her name starts by a circle letter too!
So that’s more or less the point:

As you can see, sometimes the first letter is not turned by its axis of symmetry. Instead of that you have that letter at each side of the vertical stick. But we know a warrior that hasnt got a vertical stick (on his symbol, i mean), that's Rigardo! (me? omg) Let’s check it out.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. But i don’t want to hear anymore that looks like a moustache, ok?? What if we turn it 90º to the right and cover the right part?

Ok if this is not an R i’m sucking Isley’s (little) dick. I think i have seen that symbol with the vertical stick too.

And this one is…Rachel’s symbol! omg omg omg!
And what with our godess, Teresa?

Are those two T’s attached to the vertical stick? I THINK THEY ARE!
So here you have some more, harder to see! Remember they are turned 90º to the right!

Aren’t they great? One of the symbols i liked the most is Niké’s symbol. But now all i see is two N’s. Don’t you see them too?

For some of them, i couldn’t find the letter, like Rosemary or Anastasia. For Miata it was harder, but i have a theory. We could say Miata is the only non-european-kinda-japanese name in the Claymore manga. So, how’s Miata written in japanese? If my knowledge about katakana is correct, it is ミアタ, so the first letter “mi” are three horizontal sticks. Just like her symbol! Look!

Ta-dah!
And well…That’s all folks! I have to say that except the Miata part, i didn’t find this out by myself, I found it at Claymorefan.org, an italian page, and i got 2 pics of there but i wanted to explain it more clearly than it was there. I hope you like it and if you don’t see the letter in any other symbol you can ask me, because since i’ve discovered that i check every symbol out!
Also, sorry for my bad english (and for the long post)! See you, my favorite fandom!
Raki: *is lost and can't find Clare*
Raki: *cups his hands to make a megaphone*
Raki: TERESA DESERVED TO GET KILLED BY PRISCILLA
Clare, from a distance: what the FUCK DID YOU JUST SAY
Raki: there she is
I think this is a great analysis.

I find it interesting that in this new opening our two geniuses, Armin and Hanji, are both shown with their faces covered in blood. Armin clearly got the worst end of the stick, but notice that the only part of his face which isn’t covered with blood is his mouth. Meanwhile most of the blood on Hanji’s face is around hers.
What does this really symbolize, other than the fact that if they were to smash their faces together, they would be completely covered in red?
Armin’s segment of the opening is pretty straight forward in the symbolism. He is presented as the only shining light when all of the other candles have gone out; showing his brilliance, even when he is symbolically covered in blood. He can make the right choices even in moments of dread; simple, but effective imagery.
Meanwhile Hanji’s segment is less symbolic, and more straight forward of showing her personality. She is smiling at this moment, telling of her blood thirst.
The blood patterns makes me think that this was a deliberate way of showing the differences between these two very intelligent characters. Armin is shown to be level headed, and Hanji is more spontaneous. Armin has a severe expression (in the next frame), and Hanji is excited.
I find it interesting that the anime team chose to display these differences and draw parallels between these two characters. Because Armin and Hanji are indeed very different characters, but there is one thing which they have in common; their intelligence. They act very differently, but are often thought to have the same thinking pattern.
It’s also interesting to note that the people they are the closest to - Eren and Levi respectively - are also very different characters, similar only in their desire to eradicate titans (showing a similar way of thinking at that end). And Eren is complementary to Armin by having the blood thirst of Hanji, whereas Levi is complementary to Hanji by having the calmness of Armin.
I am glad the anime made this comparison.
Or that I have the ability to read waaaaay into things and show my Eren/Armin Levi/Hanji bias.
