here's an odd headcanon i have about Theo (created by @disenchantedif / @dakotawritesif) that i wanted to share (also, it may or may not be based off of CDawgVA/ConnorDawg but like.. it fits Theo. just because i found out about the variety of crane game machines and their prizes from Connor's crane game "addiction" doesn't mean Theo also playing a shit-ton in My Headcanon Land is therefore a shitty hc just bc it has basis on something unrelated to this fandom. anyway, i digress, onto the bulk of the hc lol)

there's just an odd part of me that feels like Theo plays a lot of crane games. and i think it's just because i see Theo as someone who cares a lot for people but undercuts it, and there's not many Gift-Giving formats that equate so fluently to Theo having been valedictorian just so Cameron won't and yet calling everyone else a nerd— as spending a shit-ton of money on a crane game and then giving it away with the self-dismissal that it's from a crane game, it means very little, ignore how much time and money and frustration i put into getting this for you, ignore that i went "Oh, I have got to win this for [Name], they love xyz", i got it because it was convenient, you nerd

plus, sometimes the items end up being kind of cursed. like i can picture Theo winning a figurine for Vik only for the figure to turn out to be cross-eyed. weirdly thoughtful yet hilariously cursed feels like a good potential tight-rope for Theo to walk in this gamble of "is this item even worth it?" towards crane game prizes

plus: there is a bonus if your MC for Disnechanted is like mine, Giselle "Gigi" Kraven, where she will cry if people buy her expensive things. Theo can just... but her plushies and pillows and posters and shitty yet So Weird We Gotta Try It candy and keychains and whatnot, and Theo can spend a fuck-ton of time, effort, frustration, and $$$ on it out of love, platonic or otherwise— and then stave off her tears with a simple "It's from a crane game" kind of implication-lie-that-maybe-it-was-inexpensive (it probably wasn't inexpensive, but Gigi doesn't need to know how many times Theo fucked up before winning) and she'll just go "You WON this?? From a crane game? Woah..." like how people often do when you play that "Guess how much this was?" game to unveil what a good deal they got. i feel like Theo has won Gigi most of the nonessentials she owns, minus things that were Gifts That Happened To Also Be Non-Essentials (i feel like a lot of people gift Gigi clothes or books or blankets or something like that, and then Theo is the usual culprit of "I WON YOU A PLUSH OF KIRBY THAT'S SO BIG AND SO STUFFED IT COULD BE A PILLOW ON OUR COUCH, HERE" and other frivolities, idk, i have a vision lmao) and i feel like Theo, platonically or romantically, is v proud that the three or so plushies on Giselle's bed are all plushies from one of Theo's crane game conquests, idk, i have a vision lmao rip

and like. i do specifically mean crane games. i feel like Theo wouldn't be as into going into an arcade and winning tickets to get something because that's a guaranteed climb, that's a commitment, that's a hobby. i feel like crane games have this kind of Gacha Scam quality that Theo would more easily get addicted to because it has that "Just one more, I'll try just one more time, I almost got it" aspect to it. and if Theo ever did get a Good Prize on their first try that Theo would just be.. so smug. so proud lmao

i dunno. something about crane games feels very Theo-coded, to me, anyway. sue me lmao
