October is here. Jesskas season has arrived

Give me professor Hob who’s done safe zone training. Give me professor Hob who has a rainbow flag hung up in his office. Give me professor Hob who attends events (theater productions, dance recitals, etc) because his students are in them and asked him to be there. Give me professor Hob who fully and openly supports (and heavily donates to) the queer communities on his campus. Give me professor Hob who holds his office hours at his pub and is always willing to offer a listening ear or a shoulder to cry on for his students. Give me professor Hob who has inclusive attendance and classroom policies. Give me professor Hob who isn’t afraid to swear in class. Give me professor Hob who ignites a passion for history in every student in his class, even those who are taking it for throwaway elective credits. Give me professor Hob who cares and cares and cares about his students, who has a love of life that he passes on to others, who surrounds himself by other optimistic people not because he’s selective about his friends but because everyone around him slowly finds themselves becoming more optimistic solely through exposure to such enthusiastic and freely-given joy

The fact that Dream can feel the intent with which stuff was made/bought with like how you can tell when a baked good was made with love is genuinely my fav thing ever.

We know dream has a lot of rose imagery in the comics. So. Consider. Hob Gadling is walking through shops, and he’s had an awful few days but he’s due to see Dream that evening when he spots a gorgeous rose at the florist’s. It’s eye catching and Hob is drawn in. It’s not the done thing, really, to give your friend a rose like that but Hob has noticed that Dream has a flair for the dramatics. And the rose is so beautiful, each petal perfectly soft and curled, that surely his friend will enjoy it

And if Hob has a brief fantasy of dream touching the petals to his lips and looking at Hob with knowing eyes, that pompous smirk turned just a bit soft at the corners, mellow like soft butter and summer evenings, that’s between Hob and the rose now.

So Hob goes and meets dream with this gorgeous rose. And he gives it to Dream. I think he would lie: the florist was giving them away, I found it on the street, a kid gave me puppy eyes and I couldn’t resist buying one, but Dream touches the petals and he says. Do not lie to me Hob Gadling. Only he says it like it’s a wonder.

And anyway that’s how they end up ending their 600 year slow born
