my main reasoning for wanting sapnap to take dream's last life rather than tommy is mainly that tommy doesn't want to fight. he believes his brother's words and he believes in the good in people and he refuses to let violence be the universal language. he buried his weapons and armor instead of guarding himself like quackity and tubbo because he isn’t trying to win a war, he's trying to end it.

tommy was just a kid forced into losing battles. he doesn't want this, he doesn't want to fight, he's weaker than he used to be and less loud too, he doesn’t want to hold a sword in trembling hands and to face dream close enough to kill. he doesn't want to see dream ever again. he just wants to be safe.

now sapnap? sapnap takes pride in his fighting, he always has. he's good at it and he has fun with it, or at least he used to. sapnap's not only a soldier, he's dream's soldier. he fought dream's wars and followed dream's orders and was often a tool in getting dream so much power. in getting him so much power over tommy.

sapnap killing him would be him putting a stop to what he helped cause, would be an apology, would be reclaiming himself as a fighter, this time for what he believes is right. it's not only his right as dream's best friend to be the one to stop him, it's his duty as someone who'd been dream's weapon.

i want someone to protect tommy like they did in the final disc war, like no one could at pandora's vault. i want tommy to just be safe, without ever having to pick up a sword ever again.
