Lmao so true. First Impression -> Gross old man. After Learning His Story -> This man used to be a being of love and care and tenderness who had so many bad things happen to him as he tried to protect the people he cared for. He is precious. He is king. He is Ice King. <3
Ice king is a really good character because they intoduce him and you're like "haha what a freak what's wrong with him" and then the show goes "oh! You want to know? Let me show you :)" and you end up just sitting there like

Like, the only beef I have with man made crystals is when they smoothen the edges and take away its "rocky" shape and form, but other than that GO "FAKE" CRYSTALS WOOOOOOOOOO. Also Bismuth best crystal hands down I will fight you on this.

For years they wondered why they're still here. They barely talked with anyone, never went to a party, never found a lover. They had no family, they were born an orphan. Surely enough, people would forget them easily. They shared nothing with anyone, so who would even bother remembering them and keeping their name? One day, as they stood aimlessly in the limbo, they spotted another person. No surprise there. It was a daily occurrence and they were used to it. The person spotted them, and started running towards them. That was a little unusual, but it could just be a newcomer. They stood in front of them and greeted them. They were a young adult. A shame to see such a young person in this place, but not like they were much older. "Hi!" They said, gasping for air. "Hello..." They eventually responded. "You don't need to catch your breath over here. You have no lungs." The person looked at them perplexed, and stopped breathing. Surely enough, everything was fine. "Huh, that's weird." "Well, you are dead, so..." "I... guess that makes sense. You're the first person I found here. Are you new here, too?" "I wish." They shivered. "I've been here for years. I've been told that I'll stay here until the people in the living world forget me and my name, but somehow, I'm still here. I never did anything to be able to last here for this long. It's terrifying. I never know when I'll suddenly... vanish." "Yikes, that sounds like it sucks. Can I know your name? Maybe I'll know it?" "Lucas... Fletcher." They responded reluctantly. The person's eyes widened. "...What? Why are you looking at me like that?" "Lucas... Fletcher? Do you mean The Lucas Fletcher?" "What do you mean The?" "One of the - I dunno - greatest writers of all history???" "...Nah, no way. I'm nothing of the sorts. Just a coincidence." "But you said you were here for years, right? Maybe that's what happened!" "N-no..." The direction the conversation was taking was making them uncomfortable. "...Listen, it was a nice talk, but I want to be alone now. Excuse me. Bye." And they started walking off. "W-wait!" The person followed. "Give me a chance to think about it!" "Just leave me alone!" They said, breaking into a run. "Have you heard of 'The Fleeting Chance'?!" That made them freeze. They slowly turned and looked at the person, who slowed down when they saw them stop. "The Fleeting Chance". They remembered that name. It was a small idea that grew into a big one. It was a tale of a young boy who was on the brink of death because of a rare decease, and his family took him on a grand adventure to do the most he can before it all ended. They were always too shy to share it, fearing people telling would tell them they knew nothing about how family works since they never had one. "So you did hear of it?" The person asked. "I... never shared that story with... anyone. How... do you know about it?" "The person who published the book said it belonged to someone he knew that died a couple of months earlier. He said he found their book and released it with little to no changes. At least, that's what I was told. It's one of the most heart touching and powerful messages of pure familial love ever written, everyone says. They all love your work." "They... all... loved my work?" They asked dazedly, staring into nothing but the sky.
You die two deaths - your physical death and your true death when your name is spoken for the last time. You, a mild-mannered introvert, have been stuck in limbo for centuries waiting for your true death, and finally found out why.

Pencil drawn ref. One of the many. Note: The dual last names are part of a bureaucratic mechanism I worldbuilt. "Engram" just means powers. The symbol compliments the Engram. I'll need to make a lore ref for that. The date is also whack so don't try to associate it with real dates (Also it's Day/Month/Year, fight me).
The descriptions kinda make me cringe, sometimes, but don't worry. I'll survive.
We made a promise to look for each other when we're lost, no matter what. That promise was 10 years ago. And here I am, looking at the sun go down in the horizon, against the rocky slopes of a dully vegetated mountain range. I've been looking for you ever since your child called me, told me you disappeared. Perhaps you might've thought we were just being chummy in the spur of the moment, but no. When I made that promise, I did it with all my heart. And there's no way I'm backing away from it now, when my heart is finally being put to the test. I'll say it, and I'll say it again: I'm looking for you, and if I don't find you, I'll keep looking 'till I do.
"Where would you have gone if I hadn't come back?"
"I woulda gone to find you. Obviously."
"Okay, but what if you didn't find me?
"I'd keep looking 'til I did."
