I would personally have my Sherlock adaptation start every episode with like 5 minutes of retirementlock framing device before flashing back to the Victorian England era where most of the shows takes place. My show would be angstier that BBC Sherlock bc the fact that it was Gay Angst would be explicit. There would be times where John thought Sherlock was dead and times where Sherlock thought that he had irreparably broken their relationship and John wouldn't take him back.
