Like, imagine Billy watching the news and seeing himself as Captain Marvel flying and saving the Fawcett citizens?? to him it'd be as if his dad was alive again, he'd be watching his dad be a beloved superhero, someone who helps others and changes lives for the best.
it'd be like watching another person, like somehow Billy is just another regular civilian. He'd delude himself into believing his dad was out there saving the world. He'd dissociate as Billy, feeling his worth belonged to his dad, as if he himself never existed as a hero.
And maybe eventually he'd break as captain marvel.
