thing is, despite how it might at first seem silly to ask Dev to confirm that David put his pins in his pocket, it feels somewhat symbolic that he didn't just throw them on the floor. Took his time taking them off, put them in his pocket, undid the tie, which he also didn't throw away in a heated argument or anything not even now, then did the famous hair flip. It's less like a breakdown and more like an actor changing characters. it also makes him more bloody annoying. If I was in the trial catch me interrupting him like "bitch the fuck you downdressing for?? Need a mirror? want me to get you some powder too?? Theatre kid ass"
