Pairing: Daddy!Bucky Barnes x f!little!reader

Word Count: 890

Summary: Alternative ending to bratty angel.

Warnings: ddlg dynamics, fluff.

A/N: Thank you so much, Nonnie. You're so sweet! So happy you like what I write:"💜 I'm not supposed to be taking requests but everyone keeps sending such good ideas and next thing I know I'm at 2k words. This was so cute it made me so soft:' Thank you for requesting, I hope I did your lovely alternative ending justice and thank you again 💜💜 please enioy xx.

~~~
So I was thinking maybe Daddy doesn’t forgive her right away that afternoon she offered Uncle Steve her savings? Maybe he continues to stay mad till he’s sure she’s really learned her lesson.
And she doesn’t disappoint him. She finishes her dinner that night like a good girl, thanking Uncle Steve every time he puts food on her plate for her. She remains polite when Steve is bathing and dressing her for bed, too, staying still on his lap as he combs her wet hair. She’s sad it’s not Daddy but she’s finally learning to be grateful for Uncle Steve, letting him take care of her like he’d wanted to.
When Steve’s tucking her in that night she whispers again, “can you please tell daddy I said goodnight tonight too?”
“Sure, sweetheart.” Steve smiles, caressing her cheek.
“Can you also tell him I’m really sorry and I love him very very veeeery much?” Her eyes tear up a little as she repeats on Steve that he must deliver her message word for word.
Steve chuckles lovingly and reassures her that he will tell Bucky she loves him very much with three ‘very’s. And then he’s kissing her forehead, ready to get up and let her sleep but she clutches his fingers before he can.
“And- And can you please give him Bunny too?” she asks getting the soft, white stuffed animal out from underneath her covers and holding it up for Steve, “Dada gets nightmares and Bunny always helps me when I get scared when dada’s not here.” Her glossy, puppy eyes plead with the speechless man as she holds out the toy for him.
Steve’s melting at her softness and the way her caring, little self is looking out for Bucky even in his sleep. He’s not sure if he should be taking away her favourite stuffy though. She loves Bunny. How’s she going to sleep if he takes it from her and gives it to Bucky?
“Sweetheart,”
“Please, Uncle Steve, don’t want daddy to be alone. Bunny will make him feel better.” Puppy eyes intensify and a pout is added. Steve sighs and reaches over.
Bucky enters the room when Steve is about to take Bunny and she falls silent. Both men exchange looks and Steve smiles before kissing her head once more, “goodnight,” he whispers, walking out of the room to give them space.
“How about you make daddy feel better, doll?” Bucky offers, looking at her longingly and she gazes up at him, confused but hopeful.
“Would you let daddy sleep next to you and Bunny tonight?”
“Really?” she asks, wiggling out of the blanket, and getting up on her knees. Bucky chuckles and nods, climbing next to her on the bed.
“I missed you, dada.” She tells him, throwing her body at his and clinging to him.
Bucky sighs, wrapping his big arms around her, pressing his mouth to her shoulder. The warmth of her body against his and the sweet smell of her hair ground Bucky like nothing else could.
“I missed you too, doll. I missed you very very veeeery much,” Bucky says, imitating her sentence structure from not a minute ago as he hugged her tighter.
“I said sorry to Uncle Steve and I mean it.” She pulls away to cross her heart and Bucky smiles at how adorable she is, leaning forward to kiss her chest where she crossed before holding her hand and kissing her pointer.
“I know, doll. I know, you’re a good girl.” He pecks her lips and she blushes, giving him her drunk-in-love smile with her palms pressed to his chest.
“Dada really gonna sleep with me and Bunny?”
“Yeah, if Bunny’s okay with it,” Bucky jokes, getting her back under the warm covers before moving himself next to her.
“She’s okay with it." She nods. "She loves you, dada.” She promises, placing Bunny on Daddy’s chest, “we’re gonna protect you.” She pecks the spot between Bucky’s eyes.
“Yeah? You’ll protect daddy from the nightmares?” He asks her softly, bringing her to his side to have her head on his shoulder as he moves Bunny to rest above his other shoulder.
“Yes, dada. I’ll protect you from all the nightmares.” She kisses the top of Bucky’s cheek before snuggling up to him, her hand patting his chest gently. God, she is perfect.
“Thank you, doll,” Bucky kisses her hairline and forehead, his arm gratefully tightening around her waist, “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
And it’s true. Bucky doesn’t know where or how he’d be if it wasn’t for his doll and her big, loving heart that he believes he doesn’t deserve being there for him. Her kindness and tenderness keep him alive. The fond looks she always gives him, her smile each and every time her eyes meet him, the little kisses she leaves on him whenever she could and the way she’s so unconditionally in love with him are things Bucky never thought he would have. Yet, there she was, sleeping soundly in his arms, feeling safe enough with him to let all of her guards down, her trust unknowingly destroying all of the walls he’d built up around himself, and Bucky’s never felt so whole.
“I love you, doll,” Bucky whispered, kissing her hair.
“I love you too, dada. Veeerry much.”
hey if your still taking requests, do u think u could do something along the lines of how Mafia!Bucky and angel met? and how he came to be her daddy?
Pairing: Mafia!Bucky Barnes x female!reader
Word count: 4,615
Warnings: mentions of the death of a minor character, mentions ddlg and cglg relationships, references to kidnapping (kind of), a little bit of yelling, and a tiny pinch of what might be considered Stockholm syndrome, mentions of mild violence.
A/N: i'm sorry this has taken me such a long time. i didn't mean to keep you waiting, Nonnie love. Your ask was really awesome and I hope I didn't disappoint (I'm really nervous because this is my first time writing angel when she's not little. I'm still excited for you to take a look at her personality though.). I hope you like this and thank you so much for sending a request💜💜💜 Please enjoy xx💜.
~~~

Fallin' For Angel

When Bucky first saw her, he thought the loss of the blood covering his forehead and dripping down his eyes was giving him hallucinations. She looked so angelic he could easily be convinced he'd died for a second.

The first thing he'd noticed about her was the fact that she didn't notice him, nor did she notice how unusually quiet the ER was. All she cared about and was focused on was the old lady who she was with.

Bucky would find out later that the old lady was her Grandma, and that the doctors had secretly let her know she didn't have much time left. So being the kind grandchild that she was, she didn't deny her Grandma anything. If the woman said she felt weird and needed to see Dr. Gwen at the ER immediately she was going to carry her weak body down the stairs on her back before getting back up to get the wheelchair. She would stop a taxi and help her Granny inside and she would travel to India on foot and climb Everest for her.

She was helping the nurse help the old lady back off the bed and back in her wheelchair. And not even then did she glance anywhere else but where the lady was.

For the first time in forever, Bucky felt his heart move at the sight of her kind smile and her soft encouragement. God, she was beautiful.

Her Grandma was all that she had all her life and she wanted to give her everything she could even if that was multiple, void-of-fun hospital visits a week.

Bucky was captivated. He was ready to die for her and he didn't even know her name yet. She had him wrapped around her littlest finger without even noticing him.

And then she did.

“Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to!” She apologized softly, a regretful frown appearing on her face as she retracted her grandma's wheelchair from over Bucky's foot.

His shoe was ruined but he didn't care. The man didn't even feel the chair stepping on his foot. He was so wrapped up in her presence to be in pain or notice anything else.

“It's okay,” Bucky managed to get out of his head, staring up at her.

“Are you okay?!” She asked worriedly when she looked up and saw his bloodied face. She had no idea who he was.

“Yeah, just a scratch, angel.” He smiled what he intended for to be a soft smile, but it was kind of scary with the blood all over him and all.

And then people started whispering and nurses murmuring and Bucky knew she heard them mention exactly who he was.

He waited for her kind expression to change, for her smile to disappear, and for a gasp to leave her lips but none of it happened.

She was focused on his eyes, trying not to be rude, pretending like she heard nothing and not regarding the pet name any attention as she smiled back, “get well soon.”

“Will do.”

As Bucky watched her walk out of the hospital that night, he swore he wasn't walking out of her life and neither was she out of his.

~

Bucky kept his eye on her. Whenever he wasn't 'working', he was in his least suspicious car outside her grandma's house watching over them.

He learned she was kind but feisty and boy did he fall even more for her for that.

She had the ability to kill others with her sarcasm but she chose not to. She chose kindness. All day every day. She was a smart angel who had a job at a local magazine, handling some column that dealt with girl stuff. She loved her job and her Grandma and she existed in peace.

Bucky didn't really know what that was like but he liked how peace looked on her.

The more he watched her, the more Bucky got attached and the more he felt selfish for wanting her to be with him. His life was far from peaceful. And maybe she was just what he needed. But did she need him?

~

The day the doctors' words came true was the first time Bucky ever saw her cry. He wished he could wipe those tears away, kiss her forehead and reassure her that she was not alone. But he couldn't. Not yet.

Bucky kept watching from a distance. He watched her grief and waited for her to take all the time she needed. He watched her start to like life again. He watched her return to her bubbly self and he watched her biting her lip nervously before her laptop screen.

She couldn't be seeing someone, could she?Bucky couldn't have that happen. Not on his watch.

So being as powerful as he was, Bucky had someone hack into her device and what he found confused him way more than it angered him.

When she bit her lip she was debating whether or not she should sign up on a website for ddlg stuff? Her incomplete application info stated that she was a 'little'. She wanted a 'daddy' and it was all platonic. She wrote that she just wanted to give this a try since she's always known she was a little.

Bucky didn't exactly understand and decided to leave this aside until he could research it himself, but other than that, he needed to move. He needed to be fast or else he might lose her before he realizes it.

~

Bucky wanted to pick her up himself, but he had a stupid meeting about an important deal and was swamped. The matter being urgent and all, it couldn't be postponed. It had to happen now, not tomorrow.

So Bucky sent the only man he could trust with information about her existence without having to fear getting mocked or threatened, Sam.

~

“Go to your room, angel,” Bucky repeated calmly, flipping through the papers Julio kept laying on his desk.

“No.” She crossed her arms defiantly, “is this because I stepped on your expensive shoe with my grandma's wheelchair like 6 months ago?!”

Bucky bit back a smirk. She remembered him. He hoped Julio didn’t hear his heart speed up.

“We’ll talk later,” Bucky replied shortly.

“No.”

“Go to your room, I said!” His dark eyes snapped up to her as he tried to control his anger.

Bucky didn’t know how to be soft nor patient, he never had to practice either of those things.

“No!” She stomped her foot, “what are you gonna do to me? Kill me? Rape me? Rape me and then kill me?”

“You need to stop watching those serial killer documentaries,” Bucky told her coolly, eyes returning to the papers before him.

“Really? That’s the only way you think I’d get these ideas? Not the fact that you’re a dangerous mafia dude?” she retorted in frustration and Bucky only chuckled.

“And how did you even know I watch those?!”

“I’m a dangerous mafia dude, so,” Bucky shrugged, giving her a provoking smile, “I got my ways.”

It hasn't even been a full day and he's loving having her around. Bucky loved riling her up. He loved hearing her voice even if it meant she was talking back. He loved her stubbornness and strong will. He mostly loved that she wasn't scared and was brave enough to ask for the freedom she knew was hers.

“Let me go,” she sighed.

“Can’t do, angel. You’re mine now,” he repeated the same answer again.

“If you’re gonna hurt me just start already, I don’t have time for this.”

It hurt Bucky that she thought he took her to hurt her, but he didn't let it show. It wasn't exactly the most romantic way to arrange a second meeting. His reputation did affect her judgment after all.

“Why? What’s there for you to do?”

Bucky was never going to hurt her, but he liked her sassiness way too much to stop. He was going to drag this out for as long as his time allowed him.

“I have a serial killer documentary waiting for me at home,” she said but Bucky didn’t laugh at her little joke.

“This is your home now. And no one is gonna hurt you or even touch you, not as long as I live.” He repeated, his face serious and showing he meant every word.

“What about after you die though?” She teased.

“I’m hurt you think you’d wanna live after I leave this world, angel.” Bucky smiled, his eyes soft.

“So you didn’t bring me here to hurt me?” she asked, picking at her nails.

“No, never.” He shook his head in assurance.

“Never?”

“Never.”

“No matter what I do?” Her eyes twinkled.

“What are you planning to do, angel?”

“You know I’m not gonna stop being annoying until you let me go, right?”

“Annoying? I’m not annoyed at all.” Bucky sincerely smiled because he was actually having fun.

“You will be. Will you hurt me then?” she raised her eyebrow challengingly.

“Only if you’re into that typa thing.” He smirked, pushing a strand of hair off her shoulder.

“Wha- no! That’s not what I meant!” She took an immediate step back.

“I know.” Bucky smirked wider and walked away, and though scared, she followed like the lost puppy she was.

“Then I’m disappointed. I didn’t know mafia men didn’t stay true to their words,” she sighed dramatically, making him stop in place.

“Oh you goin’ right for the insults, angel?” he tilted his head, amused by her courage.

“I’m not insulting you, I’m just stating facts. You said no one was allowed to hurt me or even touch me.” She tried to keep a straight face.

“I did.” Bucky nodded, continuing to walk.

“Well, one of your men, those who brought me here, didn’t abide by that rule.” She crossed her arms and tried to look as serious as possible.

“Which one?” She saw the tips of his fingers digging into the neat papers he was holding, crumbling them.

“Uh, h-he had a buzz cut,” she stammered, slightly scared for the man and feeling sorry for the anger he’d probably have to face because of her.

“Buck, we gotta leave in fifteen,” Sam announced, approaching his metal-armed friend.

“It was him!” She pointed at the tall man.

“Sam?”

“It was me what?!”

“Yes! Sam! He held me tight by the arm and shoved me in the car reeeeal hard. I think a bruise is forming already,” she told Bucky, taking a fake concerned look on her left bicep for the sake of exaggeration.

“No, I didn’t!” Sam denied.

“Yes, you did and I think you kicked me too. Just to make sure I got inside,” she lied.

“Bucky, I didn’t touch her.” Sam shook his head, facing his best friend.

“I know, man.” Bucky patted Sam’s shoulder, and her jaw dropped.

“What?! You’re really gonna pick him over me?”

“Angel,”

“Okay then, if that’s how things are around here, then I’ll let myself out. Thank you, goodbye.” She started speed walking towards the large door of the mansion, ready to run to Mexico.

“Stop. Right. There.” His tone made her freeze in her spot and swallow hard.

“Go to your room, I’m not gonna say it again,” Bucky snarled, starting to get impatient.

“Let me go or else, mafia man,” she threw an empty threat, walking back to the large males.

“Or else what, angel?” Bucky smirked, loving that she had the guts to threaten him. The whole thing was very cute to him.

“Or else I’m gonna kill everyone,” she threatened further, hand hurling and grabbing on the gun on Sam’s side, but not having any luck pulling the weapon out of the holster.

“Uhh.” She struggled, pulling a couple more times, Sam watching her, biting his lip to stifle his laughs.

Bucky crossed his arms over his chest, observing her in delight with a perfect smirk etched on his handsome face.

“Okay, it’s not even worth it.” She removed her hands from Sam’s weapon, “where the fuck is my room?” she huffed, making Bucky laugh.

“Upstairs, your name’s on the door,” Bucky instructed, stifling a chuckle.

“And watch your language!” Sam warned.

“Really, dude?” She threw her arms in the air at the absurdity of her situation. A mafia man was telling her to watch her mouth while she was kidnapped in his friend’s mansion, who also was a mafia man.

With stomping feet, she made her way to the stairs; ready to get as away from them as possible, for now at least.

“You know I’m still gonna try to leave this place, right?” Her voice echoed through the vast mansion.

“Oh, that would be entertaining to watch, angel,” Bucky yelled after her and smiled before nodding to Sam to signal he was ready to go.

“Did Steve bite you by the way?”

~

“What is going on here?” she practically yelled at the man the second she walked inside the large office room.

A guard had prevented her from leaving to get her morning coffee and she was pissed.

‘You can ask for whatever you want from the kitchen, miss,’ they said.

His blue eyes were piercing as they drank in every inch of her. A smug smirk was itched on his pink lips, stretching on his sharp jawline when he saw her irritation. Bucky was in a black suit and he looked like he had his name written under the definition of danger in the dictionary, but she didn't seem to care.

“Calm down,” Bucky advised.

“Listen, I don’t care how dangerous or handsome you are. You let me go and you let me go right now.” The words left her mouth before she could stop them and she blushed at the fact that she called a man who’d kidnapped her handsome when it hasn’t even been 24 hours.

“And what if I don’t?” Bucky raised an eyebrow and smiled at the fact that she thought he was handsome.

“Why am I even here in the first place?!” She shook her head in confusion.

“I already told you, but good question, angel. You’re here because you’re mine now,” Bucky calmly informed her again, taking in her shock at his confidence and reveling in it.

She can ask that question as many times as she wanted, Bucky’s answer wasn’t going to change and it made him feel really good to call her his too.

“How is that even an answer?!” She screeched, frustrated.

She was way more infuriated that morning than she’d been the night before. Probably because she didn’t have her coffee.

“I thought it was a pretty good answer.” Bucky shrugged provocatively.

“Fuck what you think. Let me fucking go!”

“Do I need to bring Sam in here so he could teach you a lil something about manners, angel?” Bucky teased, knowing fully well that he wouldn’t ever do that.

“So much for promising you’ll never let anyone else touch me!”

“Right, maybe I should do it myself then.” He walked closer to where she stood, making her heartbeat quicken.

“Stay away from me,” she muttered, sweat already breaking on her back.

“Not so loud now, are you?” Bucky stood in front of her, gaze burning down at her face.

“I just- what do you want from me, man?” she sighed, rubbing a hand over her face in exhaustion.

“I want you. All of you,” he whispered, letting the back of his flesh hand caress her cheek so softly like she might break into flakes any minute.

“What if I say you can’t have me?” She turned her face away from Bucky’s touch.

“I’d let you think whatever you want because I know that eventually, one way or another, you will let me have you, angel.”

~

It’s been a while and she’s unwillingly gotten used to being in Bucky’s house by then. He let her work from home so her job wasn’t affected and he gave her all that she needed.

She didn’t lack anything in Bucky’s mansion, except the free will to leave it whenever she pleased of course.

“You’re going out again?”

“Yes, angel. Do you need anything?”

Bucky loved bringing stuff with him for her on his way back home. The sense of domesticity it gave him warmed his heart like nothing else did before. He wanted to bring her the whole world and dump it at her feet.

She never really asked for anything though, finding it hard to ask others for stuff and finding it even harder to get along with Bucky, but he always made sure to bring her something anyway.

“I need to get out,” she said.

“Angel, we’ve talked about this,” Bucky replied softly, more used to being patient now.

“Take me with you. I won’t try to leave,” she told him, her voice tiredly sincere and Bucky could see how negatively being locked inside has affected her.

“Okay, fine. Go get your jacket.” Bucky relented with a smile.

“Really? Thank you! You’re the best mafia man ever,” she shouted before running up the large stairs, “I’m still gonna annoy you a whole lottt.”

You never annoy me, angel, Bucky thought to himself, smiling dreamily.

He didn’t exactly adore the way she still called him mafia man, but he kind of liked it now that it was coming from her. She could call him anything and Bucky would be over the moon with it.

~

“Angel, we're going to get on the elevator, you know you don't need to hold my hand, right?” Bucky huffed, though deep inside he didn’t mind it at all that she was holding his hand. In fact, he never wanted her to let go.

He knew she was only doing it to get on his nerves, but he liked it nonetheless. He liked the closeness and the clinginess, and he liked that she thought she was annoying him practicing any of them.

“Of course I do, I have a fear of elevators! Hello?!” she argued, shaking her head at the mafia boss.

“No, you don't!” Bucky knew her like the back of his hand.

“Do too!” She insisted.

“Do not!” He went with it, biting back a smile at how childish she was acting.

“Do too!”

“Do not!”

“That's right I don't, but we're here already and I held your hand alllll the way up and now your palm’s all sweaty and you can't do anything about it,” She rambled on as the elevator came to a stop, giving Bucky a victorious smile. Aww, she was cute.

Bucky wiped the inside of his hand on his pocket square before folding it and putting it back in place.

“Except that,” she mumbled, her shoulders falling in disappointment at how fast her victory has ended, making him chuckle.

“We’re here. Behave yourself, angel.”

“Can’t promise you anything.” She sang, waltzing her way inside the big clothing store.

~

“I don’t appreciate the way you hurt my man, angel,” Bucky growled, his jaw twitching.

She was misbehaving again. As much as Bucky loved the fact that she was tough and nearly fearless, he didn't love it when she acted up.

“Oh, come on! He’s fine! It wasn’t even that bad!”

“You hit him with a drawer!” Bucky yelled.

“Well, what did you expect?! I had no access to the kitchen so no knives and Sam’s gun is fucking glued to his body!” she yelled back, stomping her feet though her eyes were getting teary.

She was so cute but so annoying.

Bucky was so angry he could punch a tree out of place, yet still wanted to grab her face and kiss every inch of it over and over again.

“Why do you keep doing this?!” Bucky didn't understand. He thought she was finally over wanting to leave him. He thought she got used to his company and maybe even liked it. Was it his ego flattering him? Did she not like being here even after all these months? Even after all the places they've gone and all the memories they've made together? Has Bucky failed?

“I don't wanna be with you.” Her words slammed into Bucky's chest, his jaw clenched more as he held his emotions in the way he always did.

He silently grabbed his jacket and left the office, slamming the door behind him.

That was it. When he came back, he was going to let her go. He'd tried and failed and she deserved to be happy even if that meant being away from him forever. Bucky knew he would never end up with someone as good as her anyway; maybe he shouldn't have let himself get that attached. He knew he didn't deserve someone so pure but he still let himself hope and that was his own fault. He should've known better than to think an angel could someday fall for the devil himself.

She pushed the curtain aside and watched from the office window as Bucky and his parade left and huffed, tears leaving her eyes. Why did she tell him she didn't want to be with him? Was it really easier to lie to him than to let him in? Why couldn't she just say what she actually wanted to say?

She walked to Bucky's desk, throwing herself down on his comfy chair, her fingers twirling a pen in the pencil cup around before accidentally knocking it over. She quickly gathered the pens, putting them back in place, her hand touching the computer mouse as she picked them up.

The dark screen of Bucky's PC was illuminated and her eyes skimmed over the links opened on his browser before she could stop them. The gasp that left her was loud.

Bucky was researching cglg relationships. He had looked up stuff like 'how to properly ask a little to be their daddy?'

'how to be a good caregiver for your little?'

'how to take care of your girl while in little space?'

'things to do for your little as her daddy' and so much more.

All of this translated to one thing in her head; Bucky knew. He knew and he didn't think she was weird. He knew and he wanted to be there for her. He knew and he wanted to be a part of it. He knew and he still so desperately wanted to be with her. He knew and he loved her. All of her.

Only then did she realize she had nothing to fear. She could now tell Bucky she didn't want to leave. She could tell him she wanted to be with him too.

She ran to her room, trying to choose something nice to wear before sitting down to do her hair. This was going to be a special night. As she curled strand after strand of hair, she started thinking about the man who'd occupied the most part of both her dreams and heart. She remembered every time Bucky had the chance to force himself on her but didn't. She thought of the way he always respected her, gave her space, and protected her even and especially from himself. She realized now that every single moment of real physical contact that has ever taken place between them was initiated by her. Bucky has never done anything that he knew she wouldn't be comfortable with. And though she said the word a handful of times to him, Bucky never said no to her.

She sighed, unplugging the curling iron and smiling to herself in the mirror in encouragement. Now she waits.

Hours have passed and the book in her hand was finished. She looked at the clock on the wall to find it was almost 1 am.

She knew Bucky sometimes took long to come back home but she still found herself worrying more with every passing second.

It didn't take long though because a minute later, she heard the familiar sounds of the cars pulling over before the mansion.

She left her room, walking to Bucky's office, knowing he stops there before going to his bedroom.

“Hi,” she said when he stepped inside the office.

“You can go, angel,” Bucky forced the words out, whispering a 'you wouldn’t be the first one' to himself.

She could see how tired and sad Bucky was on his face and she wanted to make it all better again.

“What are you doing here? Are you okay? Why are you still up?!” Bucky flooded her with questions, worry joining exhaustion and sadness on his face.

“Waiting for you, yes, and again waiting for you,” she tried to smile but Bucky clearly wasn't in the mood.

She was going to leave him so he better try to forget her smile, not get more attached to the heavenly sight of it. She was probably waiting for him to come back so they could finalize everything so she could leave for good.

“What?” Her heart dropped and tears collected in her eyes again.

“Leave. Go pack and leave in the morning; you’re free to go.”

“What if... I don’t wanna go?” A meek whisper left her as she cast her eyes down.

“What?” Bucky's head snapped up at her words, his blue eyes bulging out as they searched her for reassurance, not wanting to find out he had imagined it all.

“I think you’ve grown on me, mafia man.” She shrugged, giving a shy smile before biting her lip.

“Angel, if you're playing right now I think I might die,” Bucky said, his eyes sad in fear that she was just teasing him as usual.

“Don’t you dare die,” she whispered, her heart clenching only at the thought as her hand reached to cup Bucky's cheek, thumb bravely feeling his beard for the first time ever.

“Afraid of other people touching you after I die?” Bucky teased with a smile, longingly kissing the inside of her palm.

“Bold of you to assume I’d wanna live in a world you no longer exist in.”

She reassured him he’d already given her both when he gave her her own physical and emotional spaces. She said she wanted to give this a try; she wanted to trust Bucky. She didn’t care what he did. She didn’t want to know. All she knew was that Bucky loved her, and that she was wholly and completely falling for him as well.

~

Not much time has passed before they were officially together. Bucky asked her nearly a thousand times if she wanted to think about this. He told her that he knew that how he did this wasn’t right and that if she wanted time or space she could have them.

Bucky let her teach him all that there was to learn about her little self; what she liked and what she didn’t, how she liked to be treated and when, and Bucky was here for it all.

At first, he was doing this for her, because he wanted her to have whatever she needed and if that included a caregiving partner then so be it. But with time, Bucky found himself enjoying the dynamic more than he thought he ever would. He loved protecting her, he loved feeling trusted and relied on by her. He loved taking care of her and spoiling her. Bucky loved loving her.

Her pure, little self was Bucky’s shelter from the inescapable, ugly world he was born into. Her innocence, sweetness and softness have awakened parts of him he thought were long dead and buried.

Bucky was truly, madly, deeply in love and his life has never been better.
