I love those dp x dc fics where Danny is a boy on the run and for some reason or another the bats are trying to track him down, but Danny is a boy on the run. Cause they always give off this vibe

Just a random thought that I turned into a prompt.

I've seen a few posts where Danny can shapeshift but usually he's shapeshifting into animals like crows and cats. For this prompt, hear me out... He shapeshifts into a person. Shocking concept I know! But he doesn't shapeshift into any person he shapeshifts into one of the Batfam, specifically he shapeshifts into Dick. Specifically Dick because he's the one I think is least likely to immediately try to murder Danny for being a clone or write it off as a hallucination from sleep deprivation.(*cough*Tim *cough*)

He doesn't shapeshift into Dick because he knows who he is. Danny has no clue who Gotham's vigilantes or the Wayne's are, Amity park was very isolated even before the portal opened. Danny shapeshifted because he was hungry and walking into a restaurant with his own appearance made people act hostile or pitying towards him. He's been called all types of names from Mutant to Troq and has since learned it was easier to shapeshift to get food then to deal with that.

Danny only shapeshifted into Dick because he was one of the first people he saw while walking around Gotham. In Danny's mind he just shapeshifted into a random person he saw on the street the day before. He's just in it to get fast food, he doesn't think anything of it. Though, he is a little taken aback when the cashier casually calls him a dick, but maybe this dude is a regular that's on friendly terms with the staff. Danny got his greasy food and all is well, that is untill he lock eyes with the real Dick who looks confused but not surprised.

The two of them lock eyes and it's like the spiderman meme for a few second until Dick, in a brilliant moment of intelligence decides to give chase... In public.

Danny's not willing to give up his fast food so easily. He is 100% willing to go through a cartoonishly long chase scene for his over salted fries. So it's just Dick chasing Danny with both of them doing circus level acrobatics.

It would just be Dick chasing Danny at full speed like "This is identity theft!"

And Danny snapping back with "Fuck you! Let me enjoy my lunch in peace Dick!"

He doesn't know Dicks name he's just calling him a dick, but this solidifies it in Dicks mind that he is a clone. So when Dick finally runs Danny into a dead end he demands to know who created him. Danny's confused as hell cause the suspiciously acrobatic civilian is calling him clone and demanding to know who made him. Not wanting to deal with being called a clone he responds to Dick's question.

"Uh... my parents created me dude. I'm just a shapeshifter I don't know what to tell you," after saying that he shapeshifts back a shovels a handful of fries into his mouth.

Dick is utterly baffled when his not clone turns into a small fanged child that looks to be about Damian's age when they were first introduced. He's just staring awkwardly as this kid wolfs down food like he hasn't seen a decent meal in months. The entire time Danny's stuffing his face Dick's have a mental debate on whether or not he should take Danny home to Bruce or not. If he doesn't, the severely malnourished child doesn't get a proper meal but if he does bring the kid back he has to admit that he chased a suspected clone in public and ignored the fact the gear he had on him detected the shapeshifters heartbeat in his stomach before he shapeshifted back into his true form. (My personal headcannon that Danny cannot change where his heartbeat would beno matter how big or small he is)

Dick ends up bribing Danny with food to come back with him.

Even as as much as a mess as Danny is- theres a air of power around him. A quiet and somber presence that makes you both uncomfortable and also inclined to listen.

When he speaks it sounds like a declaration, like something fundamental in the universe has changed.

But at the same time he laughs, he jokes, he takes time out of his day to try and help someone whose situation he might understand.

His presence is solid and soothing (ironic, ain't it?)

More than once there's been a fliting thought across someone's mind "this is what a ruler should be"

People don’t use that Danny is a ghost king enough in Bat/DC crossover fics, more specifically what it entails.

I wanna see Ra’s try to mess with him only to have Danny demand him to bow and he has no choice but too.

I wanna see Damian feeling inclined to respect Danny as soon as he sees him.

I wanna see Jason get therapy and help from Danny for his once upon a dead ass.

I want Billy and Danny team up to cause confusion and chaos with deep understandings of each other’s struggles with powers.

I want the aliens from dead and gone planets to see their species in the Infinite realms and realizing that it’s not all lost, and that the younger ones can make a connection with their origins.

I want him and the Justice league team to team up and destroy the G.I.W for their horrible laws.

I want the Justice league to realize that while it may break their world view and minds, they are talking to a child, one that died and came for help.

I want ghosts with humans to trade things that make them happy. I want their obsessions fulfilled with little to no damage caused to the ones around and them.

I want Danny to realize he has options to leave if he feels unsafe, I want amity park to feel seen for their problems.

I want any dead lifeform to feel inclined to either respect him, or baby Danny because they sense that he’s a essentially a ghost toddler.

Bruce meeting Danny the first time: Oh it's adorable.

Bruce as Batman meeting Danny as Phantom and connecting the dots to another dead child: Oh it's traumatized.

Bruce seeing Danny unused to all positive attention the Batfam is giving him: Oh it has anxiety.

The sound of the cameras shutter stood out amongst the typical city sounds that floated up to Bruce on the darkened rooftops. His son, or rather what was left of him, continued taking pictures of the Gotham skyline as if nothing was wrong.

As if he wasn't dead.

It took everything Bruce had not to break down at the thought. Instead he stepped forward out of the shadows, "Tim."

Tim shuttered, the gears visable inside his chest vibrating from the movement. It was unsettling. "I told you not to call me that." The Lazarus spirit hissed, "Or should I make you join Oracle and Superboy in the portrait." Tim smiled to himself, "I'm sure it will make a pretty picture."

Elsewhere, the "Lazarus form" of Damian was leading a pack of ghost dogs to rampage against butcher shops while another part of the city had ghost Dick as a circus proformer terrorizing an escaped Joker and his henchmen. The batfam decided to leave that one be for a while.

No one knew where Cass's spirit was. All they saw was a mass of writhing shadows and then she was gone.

Jason's ghost was the one no one wanted to face. Not because of how dangerous he was, but because he was just sitting there on his favorite gargoyle. Neon green gauntlets on, matching his neon green shoes and contrasting nicely with the recolor kevlar and cape.

No one wanted to confront the dead Robin. No one.

Except Phantom, that is. He felt responsible since it was him using his parents new invention that knocked thier souls out of their bodies to begin with.

Now Phantom is trying to find a way to shove thier souls back into thier still living bodies before its too late all while avoiding Batman and the rest of his crew and not letting them know he exists.

no, jason did not have a fun patrol, and no he will not stop ranting about it, and yes he does want some comfort cookies, shut up!
