Can Brenner come back as something besides the grimdark dude that El has to defeat to find herself or whatever?

I sort of wish Brenner had something going on in his life besides being the enemy of meddling kids. How about Brenner's boss or bosses? How do we not know if he was being gaslit by them into being an evil scientist to carry out the lab's project. I imagine the project had to do with prestige, money or both. Maybe Brenner thought he'd get a Nobel for getting credit for the experiment, who knoooooows because the creators stopped giving a shiiiiittttt!
