While We're All Talking About Both The WGA/SAG Strikes And Barbenheimer, I Hope Everyone Realises That
While we're all talking about both the WGA/SAG strikes and Barbenheimer, I hope everyone realises that the entire reason this exists is because Christopher Nolan stood up to Warner Bros against pushing their entire cinematic slate onto streaming in 2021, by taking his next film to another studio.
Then, as an act of petty revenge, they decided to deliberately move their single biggest movie of 2023 (and arguably WB's biggest non-Batman/Harry Potter movie in DECADES) directly onto his release date.
So no, the Barbie Marketing isn't "so good it helped another movie". The Barbie Marketing Machine was specifically designed to get back at someone who dared to stand up against WB executives.
It was a calculated move of malice by soulless corporate fuckeroonies.

I grew up in the 1990s and yeah most of those Europop singles had nonsensical lyrics because English usually wasn't the writer's first language. Planet of the Bass is pretty accurate but the outfits are from 2000s rave culture. It would have been more authentic with shiny latex outfits or oversized silver parkas.
We need *somebody* to bring back RARBG!!!
At this point creatives should just join forces with pirating sites. That feels like a more humane and sustainable alternative to whatever the fuck is going on with "legitimate" streaming services.
Team up with an endless amount of such sites in other countries. The revenue from dubious ads would be more profitable than Hollywood's paychecks.
I don't wanna sound like a conspiracy theorist but this Lizzo situation sounds dubious and a way for the music industry to destroy her somehow because she's not a traditional looking pop star. I think the story is a plant until further notice.
I love classic MST3K but I'm not a fan of how twee the promo for it has become post-crowdfund.
