Where did the name Jaybird come from?

One day, I was locked in my room while my parents were away (surprise surprise, Mother locked me in there), and I opened the window to let in some air. I heard the birds outside and went to watch them. I had some scones and tea, so I left some scone bits on the window sill and then a blue jay flew onto the ledge and was eating them.

Father came home, and he found out I had been unsupervised... We built a drone together from spare parts and he wouldn't let me give her a real name... just a letter. "In case she breaks and we have to buy you a new one" he had said... So I named her J because of the blue jay... and... then it turned into Jaybird sometimes... -she fidgets with some of her hair- I still adore blue jays, but I adore Jaybird way more.

She makes me feel safe... She always has. She's been there for me since I was a human girl.. She was my childhood friend, we spent hours and hours every day together. I remember one time.. I had to go for a measels shot... I was 9, I was really scared, and J held my hand and told me to be brave. I remember one time when I got stage fright when I was 12. My father invited a bunch of his work friends over to see my play the harp, and I was so scared... And, J was right there, in the wings of the stage, watching me play so I wouldn't feel afraid.

And all the other times, even the night I died, she was there, by my side.

She may be sometimes angry, she may be sometimes a bit distant, but... she cares, a lot... she's the reason why I'm here right now... And she kept my vessel as safe as possible, even if she did so for the wrong reasons... She's always been kind to me and protective.

I'd give everything for Jaybird... so, what do I see in her? So so very much, anon...
