Something I forgot to add is their face plate rotates depending on how their body is angled. It's limited in movement but it gives the animal better spacial awareness. They have few eyes spots in their armor too but less sensitive.

More to their biology - while looking like a giant lobster they come from the same "fish" ancestors as Uniima. They belong to a group that kept their 3rd pair of limbs for locomotion, though these limbs are more specilised than the rest (in uniima the 3rd pair is part of their internal organs).

Now as drawing right now. I decided to actually do some documentation.

Usually I worldbuild as I draw with just some mind idea. That's because for some reason writing stuff is extremely difficult to me.

But somehow my brain recently switched and I'm getting out some comic scripting and worldbuilding doc. Hopefully I can keep it up and will get less stuck when drawing - hopefully improving the quality of my work.

Baby slomen (chicks?sloms?slims)

They are born with sharp 'teeth' on their lower jaw to help them leave their meat egg. Once out, they use them to pierce their mother's "crop" to drink. After 14 to 18 months the teeth are gone, and at the same time, the mother's crop stops filling.

The mini sloms are also born blind (but stay that way only for a week). Their eyestalks stay protected with a very thick layer of fat for multiple years.

Being more bottom-heavy than adults, they can already learn to walk in 4 months. Their posture stays raptorial before ages 6 to 8.

Here are also some experimental sketches of adults. Def need a character exploration for uniima, but understandably, slomen are a bit easier to work with, being the human aliens.

I find your Uniima terrifying and disturbing to look at. But they are genuinely facinating and i love learning about them, they have a special place in my brain now, i love it.
