Music: The guilty tango (Littlest petshop)
Broken, healed
Luisa desided to have a work out in her day off. She overdid it and accidentally pulled a muscle in her shoulder
Good thing is that her family would be here to make sure she let herself healing.
Autor's note:
So, just to clarify it, I never had a sprain, so I don't really know how it feels or supposed to be healed.

Rebuilding Casita actually was fun. Even tho they didn't have a house almost for a week now, Luisa felt like she was at home more then ever before. Of course, she missed her power, she missed being worthly.
No. It wasn't the right type of thinking. She wasn't a good person because of gift. Maribel don't had any powers, and she was great. Dad and tío Felix are normal people and they were wonderful.
"I'm good enough. With or without gift." Luisa whispered to herself. It's not like she actually believed in that, but people were saying that if you said something a hundred times, you would start believing it too.
Becides, Luisa still was stronger than most of the people. Even if it was very weak compared to her normal condition. Because even small stones were heavier than a whole churche when Luisa was still strong.
Luisa looked at the bulding far away. Then suddenly giggled as she thought of how lucky she was that she didn't lose her gift at the moment of carrying the whole building
Wait. Right. Luisa knew herself that the more heavy things you carrying, the easier it would be to carry them. Which means... If she would try a bit harder, she could return her power. Then everybody would stop thinking that she weak and...
She took a deep breath to get distracted from cycle of bad thoughts. She got enough breakdowns for the last week, she totally didn't need one more. But it only determined Luisa the way stronger. Lifting things always was the way she was dealing with problems. Or, rather, the way she escaped problems. Getting herself tired to the point she barely could stood up on her feet. So her head would be too heavy to thinking about anything.
Luisa looked around to make sure she was alone. Mirabel wouldn't like if she found out that her hermana was working out in theur day off. But! Luisa never took day off back then, she didn't need one!
She looked around again, this time to found something that she could use as a dumbbell. Luisa couldn't help her confident smile as she saw a fallen tree. Probably not the best thing she could find, but it might be a good start.
Luisa slowly came closer. It's been a while since she had a proper work out. Maybe it could be a good start. Even if it wasn't even like a thousand part of her lost gift. She bent down and put her hands between the ground and the tree to embrace it. Then Luisa slowly straightened her back. Damn, this tree was really heavy. Way heavier than Luisa expected. Wait. Okay, maybe she should've choose a tree that wasn't like a four sized of her. But Luisa was Madrigal, and they never gave up.
Her hands were shaking as she lift wood to her chect level. Okay, now Luisa had to raise it over her head, maybe fifty times would be good for the first time. Her right shoulder was in pain, Lyisa ignored it. Afterall, pain was something that normal people could feel. Once she tore her knee after falling while she was carrying bricks. It was bad, but hey! She was fine less than in hour! So why would it be any different? Becides, pain meant that Luisa's muscles strained, so work out probably had a good impact on them
Luisa felt like a a strand of hair that has fallen out of her bun stuck to the face that was wet with sweat. She kept unfolding her arms over her head. Just a little bit more...
Something clicked.
Luisa hissed throught her teeths as she dropped the log on the groung, because it felt like she wasn't able to control her shoulder throught the pain. It was the way worse then when she was bitten or hit with something. Her shoulder was numb, and even putting her hand down felt paintful but Luisa still tried to reach down for the fallen tree. But she coudnt even grab it, because every movement of the right shoulder felt like it was toring apart. So really? She was going to give up because of stupid pain?
"Breath in.." Luisa closed her eyes to ignore both pain and dark thoughts that were jumping in her head. "I'm fine. I'm great."
Lie, but whatever.
Okay, maybe she really was so pathetic weak that she wasn't able to carry a small weight. She had to try something smaller the next time. But what the point of training if you won't give yourself a proper exercise stress? And when she would be able to training? Luisa totally won't take time off when she had to work on Casita. The only reason why she wasn't working today is becaise Mirabel and Isabella had a working day to make sure their giant sister would have a proper rest. And here she was. Working when everybody wanted her to rest. Great, how would her sister react if they find out? On other hand, why they prefer working instead of spending time with Luisa? Maybe they just didn't want her around.
"Shut up, we just can't be all resting at the same time." Luisa hissed to herself as she put her left hand on her opposite shoulder. "They love me." She groaned, then squeezed her hand too hard so pain in the shoulder became even worse.
It was alright. Luisa would felt like nothing happened by the time she came home.
-------
Luisa had to admit that she was wrong. The pain in her shoulder didn't stop throbbing even in the next day. She barely could move her right hand without grimacing from pain. Good thing that she could use both of her hands in the same way, so Luisa could just wait use other one until she felt better.
She realized flaws in this plan as she came to the broken Casita. Building new home was kind of activity that takes all your physical strenght. And being not able to move half of your hands probably supposed to be a problem. Oh, well. Maybe Luisa just needed some pressure. Becides, those bricks wasn't so heavy. It should be okay.
Luisa pursed her lips trying to hold back the cry that was coming from her throat. Then inhaled sharply when something in her shoulder clicked again and pain blew again. A heavy cargo fell out of her hands, but even if it didn't, Luisa felt like she wasn't able to move her hand at all.
"What's wrong?" Mirabel screamed worriedly as she ran to her hermana.
"Nothing's wrong!" Luisa put an anxious smile on her face. She was fine, just act normal, it's just a small bruise, nothing to worry about.
Mirabel crossed her arms on her chest. "Last time you've said that, you end up singing the whole vent song."
Luisa giggled lifting her shoulders, then winced in pain. "Just hit myself, nothing to worry about!" She let out a sigh as she put her hand on her aching shoulder.
"It don't seem like a just hit to me." Mirabel looked worried. Great, she made her sister feel bad. "Maybe you should go to mom."
"Mom can't heal us with magic anymore." Luisa put out as she tried to reach for forgotten brick. "Everybody gets a small wounds sometimes." Yes. People were saying that everybody got a bit injuries sometimes (unless you are Invulnerable). It was normal part of life, she wouldn't die from it.
"Please, Luisa." Mirabel let out a sigh. "You acting like it something worse."
*****
Luisa looked away awkwardly tapping her foot on the floor as her mother looked at her shoulder. Even so, she could see how her mother frowned looking at the big purple bruise.
"Could you move your hand?" Julieta asked gently.
Luisa raised her hand up but it stopped at the middle. Her paintfull hiss muted the click from her shoulder.
"Oh, dear!" Julieta cried out worriedly, as she stopped Luisa to predict herself from making it worse. "I think it could be sprain or broken bone."
"Uhhh." Luisa raised her eyebrows. "What does it means?" She squinted a little.
"Sprain means that your joint is torn." Mother let out a harsh sigh. "Broken bone means... Broken bone."
Luisa giggled weakly. "Okay, so can I go back to work?" She felt a bit of feeling of worthlessness rooting under her skin. Luisa didn't even wanted to came here. Mirabel just grabbed her.
Julieta eyes widened. "What? No! Working would make in worse"
Luisa looked down to her mother. Even when she was sitting on the chair, she still towered over her mamá. "But Camilo still was working after he got that big bruise from falling off the tree." She paused for a bit to take a deep breath. "And I also got some damage but it was okay. It just would stop a few hours after."
"Hija, it's different." Julieta took a deep breath, Luisa moved nervously in her chair. "It can't be healed by itsself." Luisa pursed her lips into a thin line, intending to say something, but Jullietta started to talk again. "Atleast, not right."
Luisa arched her eyebrow. "Why only right shoulder couldn't be healed by itsself?"
Julieta smiled softly. "No, I mean it might be healed wrong."
"But.." Luisa tried to protest but her mother interrupted her.
"It was way more paitfull than normal trauma, right?"
This question got Luisa consered. She didn't really pay attention to her body's well-being. After all, pain was something that normal people could feel, right? Yes, most injuries this week were not as painful as this one, on other hand, Luisa didn't felt pain since she got her gift and... Well, until she lost it. That's probably was the reason, why Luisa managed to hurt herself so many times since Casita fall apart. She was pretty sure that at this week she was injured more times than anybody else, except for her father.
She didn't awswer as she shrugged awkwardly with her healthy shoulder.
"The more pain you feel, the more serios trawma happening to you." Julieta let out a sigh, as she closed her eyes. Luisa was impressed with how calm her mom acted as she was explaining thing that probably being known by kids to her adult daughter.
"So how long I had to..." Luisa cut herself at rhe middle of sentence. «Being useless» twisted on the tip of her tongue.
Julieta give her a guilty expression. "I don't know. I always healed everyone with magic."
"It's okay." Luisa smiled as she put her palm on her mom's shoulder. "I will be fine."
"No." Julieta let out a harsh sigh. "I should have learn more about illness. I just relied on my magic so much, so I never thought about what might happened if I lose it."
This feeling of doing not enough was something Luisa could relate too much.
She shuddered as Julieta wrapped her arms around her genly ignoring the injured shoulder.
"I'll try to find something about healing this in library." Julieta whispered in her ear. "Try to not move your shoulder, okay?"
"On it!" Luisa hugged Julieta close to her chest.
***
Apparently, Luisa found out that she had to wait a couple of weeks to return to work in the best case scenario. Which was awkwardly stupid! Luisa got her muscle torn apart, but her muscles were big, and strong... Or atleast she thought so. What if even her natural power dissapeared? Was she just a balloon filled with air?
No, she coudn't rest while everyone else had to tear their backs.
It was about a midnight, and Luisa felt her heart beating like crazy. She carefully climbed out of the sleeping bag trying to be as quiet as she can. Yes, Dolores wasn't able to hear everything anymore, but Luisa actually felt like everybody got a super hearing, and floor in here was so creaky...
But everything was fine. Luisa make sure she went far enough before she started to run. As well, as she could return home before anybody's wake up.
It continiued for a couple of nights. Luisa didn't carry things that were too heavy, because she still needed to keep her right shoulder not moving. Well, if her mom wouldn't have watched him so carefully, Luisa probably would ignore it. She wasn't an invalid. Or she was, compared to her condition before losing Casita.
Luisa also tried not to work too much, as much as she hated it, she couldn't have done too much, without being caught. So she worked about two hours and then headed home. The amount of work done was ridiculous, thanks to not being able to use half of Luisa's hands.
It was fifth night when she was stopped by gentle cough right after she walked out of the church.
"Going somewhere?" Tío Bruno smiled to her from the doorway.
Luisa shuddered, then put on her face a shaky smile. "I just want some fresh air. I wasn't able to fall asleep."
Bruno eyes shone. "Really? Me too! Guess I would walk with you!" Before Luisa could even come up with an answer, Bruno knocked on the wood and ran to her.
Great, tonight was missed. Wait, no, she not supposed to feel something like that to her tío. He just wanted some company, after all, he was all alone for ten years. Obviosly he would like someone around. As long as he didn't know it would be fine.
"Fun fact." Bruno's awkwardly speech brought Luise back from her thoughts. "I used to fall asleep really late. In fact, I never managed to fall asleep before 2 AM ever since we've ended up in this place."
Luisa stopped for a second, then startled in fright after realisation came to her then hissed because she lifted her sore shoulder too high.
"Are you okay?!" Tío Bruno ran up to her worriedly.
"Y- yeah." Luisa partly closed her eyes, trying not to look to her tio.
"So, why are you doing this?" Bruno let out a sigh, reaching to his sobrina arm as he understood that she realized what he meaned.
"I just like walking in the night." Luisa smiled nervously, trying too look anywhere but her tio.
"I spied on you last night."
Luisa took a deep breath, feeling how her body was shaking. "So what was I doing?" Okay, maybe tío was just messing with her. Maybe he wanted Luisa to give him awswer herself.
"You know." Bruno smiled patting Louise on her back. "When my hermana said that you can't work because you got a sprain I'm pretty sure she wasn't meaning that you wanted to work secretly when everyone else was asleep."
Luise froze feeling her heart beating too loud. Tick-tock. Tick-tock.
"I wanted to be useful." Luisa whispered words stuck in her throat. Great, she was so stupid that she couldn't listen to her mother's simple request, and now she made tio Bruno worry. Becaus, of course, she HAD to prove that she is still worth of something.... Who did she prove it to anyway? Nobody knew, or, rather, nobody supposed to know that she was working too.
"You don't have to." Bruno let out a sigh, as he sat down on the bench and patted the seat next to him, inviting her to sit down. "Kiddo, you health is way more important."
Luisa couldn't stop giggling, the she cleared her throat and explained to Bruno who raised his eyebrows. "Sorry, nobody called me a «kiddo» for years."
"You've grown so much since I left." Her tio sighed dreamily. "It seems like I holded my third baby sobrina in my arms just yesterday." He leaned back on the bench.
Luisa shrunked awkwardly, then looked up to the shiny stars. She remembered how tio and she used to watch the stars before her ceremony.
Bruno looked at her, then softly closed his eyes. "But, we were talking about your current condition, right?"
Even if Luisa would have something to say, she couldn't make a sound. Instead she kept peer into the warm blackness of the sky.
"I remeber how useless I felt." Luisa shuddered and finally looked at her tío. He clasped his hands together and put them on his knees looking at the asphalt. "I felt like my gift was completly useless. And everybody would be more happy if I would never use it but it would let mamà down."
"Your gift has nothing to do with being useful!" Luisa screamed a she turned Bruno's head towards her. "Mom and tia Peppa will love you no matter what!"
Bruno frendly squinted his greenish eyes. "And we all love you." His voice was so caring. Luisa felt like her eyes started to go wet. "You have nothing to prove, being useful is not a thing. You are wonder, because you are you."
"Bu-" Luisa's voice cracked. "You all are working so hard while I just slacking off!" She blinked a few times to brush away tears that appeared in her eyes.
"You are not slacking off, you are taking care of yourself." Tío Bruno wiped away her tears with his sleeve. "Just try to let it go, okay?"
Luise pursed her lips together and looked down. "It's not fair to everyone else." They were working to the bone, and Luisa felt sick just from thoughts that she would use their kindness.
Bruno jumped off the bench. "It's fair to you." He faintly giggled under his sobrina surprised look. "If it would make you easier, you alone probably made more than we all together. So how about a well-deserved vacation?"
Luisa still was unsure moving her right foot across the floor. "I'm strong, I had to doing my job." It's how things have been, always have been. Luisa was strong she has to take care of the others, not the other way around.
"You don't." Tío Bruno argued then he bent down. "Rats tonight are pretty quiet."
"Uhh" Luisa got lost from her tío sudden change in topic of conversation. "Is it good or bad?"
"It just happens." He shrugged looking at Luisa upside down.
"You surely love rats." Luisa pressed her head aganist the bench back for a second. "I remember how you gave me one."
Bruno scratched the back of his head then said exidetly. "Rico? Oh, I remember him, how he's been?"
"He was cute boy!" Luisa chuckled. "Always climbed in my bed when it was time to go to sleep. Can you imagine how I was crying after finding his dead body?" Rico was the last reminding about her tío when he left them. Luisa felt like she lose her tío again at the day when Rico died.
"Want another one?" Bruno chuckled covering his mouth with his hand. "I have a full collection!"
"Right now I would prefer a house." Luisa put out as she got up from the bench.
Bruno froaned, it seemed like remembered what they were talking about. He took a few steps to Luisa and took her left hand looking to her down up with only his pupils, not moving the head.
"Please, don't work right now." His lips were shaking as he stopped to inhale. "I can't stop you. But I'm asking you to take care of yourself."
"I'll.." Luisa hesitated feeling like her throat was getting dry. "I'll try."
****
Luisa could tell that her shoulder was getting better. She actually stopped secretly working after that night. Mostly because she was worried that tío Bruno would catch her again. Well, atleast it seemed like he had not tell anyone about this midnight secret. Still, Luisa couldn't help this guity feeling that was twisting her insides.
Okay, take a deep breath, everything's fine. Magic's... well, they lost their magic. And Luisa probably wasn't really fine eighter. But well, if Luisa understanded something in the last month, it was the fact that everyone in this family were not fine, so whatever, she could handle it, it's not a big deal.
Luisa was interrupt by piano sound.
She squeaked as she stood up. Music came from the outside. And there was only one person in this family who knew how to play the piano.
The front door creaked when Luisa pushed it. On the small church veranda Agustin skillfully moved his fingers and music jumped and flied with them. Agustin stopped for a second as he heard the door's crack moving his head to see what's going on. "Oh, Luisa, what do you want?"
Luisa shrugged with her healtly shoulder as she leaned against the door. "Just wanted to see what you're doing. Are you on break today?"
Agustin chuckled and started to play again. "Not really, I just dropped a rock on my foot. And how is your arm?"
"Oh, it's better." Luisa smiled as she started drumming on a wooden door. "I'll return to work very soon." Mom said that her shoulder could be healed in a week. So Luisa could stop being useless sitting inside the whole day. Even if she would be even weaker than before. Julieta said that her shoulder would be weak even after it's healed. So if Luisa would return to work with all her power, she could get hurt again.
"That's nice to hear." Augustin winked. "We all are missed you!"
Luisa gigged. "We sleep in the same room." She put out. Luisa had a feeling that she saw her family more often than before they lose magic. Because before she usually was the one who leaved first, barely eating a breakfast, and she often was returning home at the end of dinner.
"Town people also asked about you." Agustin said focusing on the piano keys. Luisa raised an eyebrow in surprise. Okay, she really didn't expect that. She pursed her lips and clenched her hands into fists. Then realized that she haven't work almost for a month now. Of course they missed her. She's got so many job to do and she was just spending her time for nothing. "Seems like they really love you." Agustin's voice returned Luisa back to earth. "Well, it's not surprising considering how much work you was doing back then." Agustin finally stopped playing and jumped off the chair, then grimaced as he stepped on the bad leg.
"Are you okay?" Luisa ran to him worriedly. She reached out her hand to help her padre lean. "Be careful."
Agustin looked in her eyes through his glasses. Then he pressed his hand to her cheek. "You are just like your mother." He smiled softly squinting his eyes.
"What do you mean?" Luisa asked as she leaned towards her papá.
"You both are caring about everyone else so much until you burned." He sighed.
Luisa giggled weakly as she put her father back on the chair. "I just love to help other people." It was true. No matter how tired Luisa was, this grateful glances always costed it. She liked when her name was spread throughout the town like a queen greetings. Even if Luisa was as opposite to queen as possible.
"That's my hija." Agustin sighed proudly. "Strong, kind and beautiful! How come boys wasn't confessing to you?" He pinched Luisa on her cheek.
"Daad!" She groaned embarrassed.
"Remember how we used to play on the piano together?" Agustin asked with a smile.
"You want to...?" Luisa asked unurely. Then looked at her big chubby fingers. "I think I'm way too big."
"Don't worry. The main thing is that it supposed to be fun." Father put out. Luisa awkwardly pressed her left hand to the piano and pressed one af the keys. Or, maybe, two.
They stayed here until the sunset letting music to jump under their fingers
Nothing at all
Mabel was worried that her lack of attraction to others was abnormal. Turns out that she wasn't the only one.
Ford and Mabel talking in the night. And a couple of months later she called him to tell about something.
According to clock it was about 3 AM. Pretty much, it was time when kid supposed to sleep, instead of lying on the table in the kitchen.
Ford said the same as he saw Mabel in the kitchen. She didn't answer just sadly looked away.
“Something happened?” Her gruncle asked worriedly as he pushed back his chair and sat next to her.
“I think there's something wrong with me.” Mabel whispered almost unhearable.
Ford's eyes widened. “Who said you so, pumkin?” He slighty pat her spine. “You are perfect.”
“Girls supposed to love boys. Romantically, I mean.” She kept resting her chin on her shoulders.
Stanford frowned. “As I heard from Dipper and Stan, You've got a pretty big amount of crushes during this summer.”
He shuddered as Mable whimpered. She rubbed her eyes with a sweater sleeve. “W-well... I don't actually... love them?” Mable hited table with fists and kept talking before gruncle Ford could actually explain something. “Others just keep told me that falling in love is the best thing that could happen to girl. So I thought that... maybe...” She whimpered again. Ford moved the chair closer and pressed Mabel to his chest. “If I choose a cute boy and keep told myself that I have crush on him, I might actually do it.”
Ford's sweater started to be wet from Mabel's tears. “... And it never worked.” He continiued as his great niece wasn't able to say anything. Sobbing stopped for a moment as Mabel looked up to Ford, eyes still filled with tears. “I know how it feels.”
Saying it out loud felt strange. Ford never told anybody about this problem, he just forgot about it when he graduated from college. But back then he was trying to feel anything. He even stole dad's magazine with naked girls thinking that he would find them actually attractive. And they looked nice. But it was nice in a way like nice scenery. Nothing like doing that strange stuff that adults liked to do. At least, by Stan's words.
“You tried to fall in love?” Mabel asked unsurely.
“Well.” Ford shrugged. “Not really. I actually wanted to love girls, even so I never find them attractive. But I never tried to fall in love on purpose. But, honestly, my only love is anomalies”
Mabel giggled. “Then my true love is sequins.” Her eyes were still wet, but voice became a bit funnier.
“Becides” Ford added patting Mabel's head. “You already love many people.” A little smile appeared on his face. “You love your brother, you love Soos and Wendy with her friends. You love your family and friends. And who said that love supposed to be romantic?”
Mabel laughed. Now the fact that she cried a couple of minutes ago was unbelivable, Ford scratched the back of my head thinking how his great niece was able to change her mood so soon.
“Are you feeling better right now?” Ford asked putting a hand on her shoulder. Mabel gave him a fast nod. “I suppose it's time for somebody to go to sleep. It's past you bedtime.” He smiled.
Mabel crossed her arms resentfully. “Then you will go to sleep to.” She said firmly. “You look like you haven't sleep for days.”
“I have work.” Stanford explained as he stood up and extended his hand to Mabel to help.
Mabel shook her head. “I won't go to sleep unless you will do the same.” She turned away amd closed her eyes.
Ford let out a sigh. With this face expression Mabel looked really simulare to Shermy when he was angry. On other hand, she was his granddaughter, so it probably was a genetic stuff. “Okay, I'll try to sleep a couple of hours.” He wasn't in mood for argument. Becides, a little part of his mind actually understood that he needs some sleep. And as much as Ford hated this thought, it still was true.
Mabel threw her hands up in the air with a victorious facial expression. She jumped off the chair. “You better to sleep well!” She puted her hand on her hips.
Ford nodded as both of them get out of this room.
****
When Mabel called him, Ford was really suprised. Usually, Mabel always talked eighter to Stanley or to both of them. Still, she always made a phone calls to Stan's number. So at the first moment Ford thoughed that his niece just called by mistake.
“No, no, no!” Mabel assured him. It was pretty suprising. Between both couples of twins there wasn't really need to say that Mabel has closed bond with Stanley, when Dipper were more close to Stanford. “Grunkle Ford, do you remember our conversation?”
Ford scratched his head. “Which one?”
“About love!” Mabel's tone was so light that Ford decided that she actually fall in love for real. “And how both of us bever actually had romantic feelings to anyone?”
Ford nodded weakly, even so it was useless because Mabel couldn't see him. “Well, yes.”
“I find out that it actually was a thing!” She screamed happily. “It's called being aromantic!” Her words began to blend together as she clattered into the phone. “It's like when you don't feel, or feel very little amount of romantic attraction, regarless of people gender. And there's many people like this!”
She kept talking for a while before her energy went down.
“Aromantic.” Ford whispered a word that he just heard, just like he was trying to taste it. He heard about it once or twice, but he never actually thought about this. Mostly because back in Twentieth Century there wasn't much of information about non-hetero relationships. Becides, when Ford was too busy with all of these anomalies in Gravity Falls to think about this. And before he went to this town, he kept telling himself that he just haven't found the right person yet.
According to the fact that he was over sixty years old, there's probably wasn't a right person, actually.
Ford fell on his bed. Or on his brother's bed, since Ford slept on the second floor. His head was full of thoughts. He whispered this word once again. Like if it was a Lifebuoy. A little part of him, that he never understood suddenly started to make the way more sence now. This word felt like something, that Stanford really belonged to. Like a little part of him that he never realized. It just... felt right. And that's all that was matter.
Alright, so you know how Isabela and Dolores are the same age. As well as Camilo and Mirabel
And imagine little Luisa, growing up being the only one who don't have a close-aged sibling.
Luisa: Tía Pepa, why are you so unfair?!
Pepa: Uhm, what?
Luisa: Why my sisters have cousins who are the same age as them, and I don't?!
Later, Pepa got Antonio and everything became fair
