It's a flag with beautiful symbolism of the Ukrainian fields of grain covered by the blue Ukrainian skies. It has been celebrated on August 23 since 2004. The first historically verified use of the beautiful yellow and blue flag dates from 1848 when it was raised over the Lviv Townhall, which was known as Lemberg at that time & was the capital of Galicia & was part of the Austrian Empire. The modern flag was adopted as the official national flag of Ukraine in 1992.
