PALESTINE UPDATES

PALESTINE UPDATES 🇵🇸

Biden sends $1 billion worth of arms to Israel.

The Biden administration has told lawmakers in Congress that it plans to send more than $1 billion worth of new weapons to the colonist state of Israel, according to multiple media reports. The shipment is said to include military vehicles, mortar rounds and tank shells, although the timing is not yet known.

This comes after the White House held back a single shipment of large bombs because of concerns that Israel's assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah would cause major civilian casualties. The Biden administration has claimed for months that it opposed a ground invasion of Rafah, but Israel recently pushed into the eastern part of the city and intensified its attacks, displacing half a million Palestinians who had been seeking refuge there — with little pushback from Biden.

The United States is Israel's largest weapons supplier.

Also, if we need the profit motive, rather than patents, why not have, idk, researchers paid by states or universities? Oh wait, that's how most innovation already works. And then we give the patent for free to a company that usually did much less than public institutions.

"People Wouldn't Invent Anything If There Was No Profit Motive."

"People wouldn't invent anything if there was no profit motive."

Well, that's clearly a lie.

Of course, very much expected of a beacon of democracy with a rich multicultural tradition, a fundamental belief in equality and a strong commitment to safeguarding international peace and law. You see, the child health advisor is obviously Khamas.

Two more US officials resign over Biden administration’s position on Gaza war

The officials accuse the administration of not telling the truth about Israel’s obstruction of aid to Palestinians in Gaza

Alexander Smith, a contractor for the US Agency for International Development (USAID), said he was given a choice between resignation and dismissal after preparing a presentation on maternal and child mortality among Palestinians, which was cancelled at the last minute by USAID leadership last week. Smith, a senior adviser on gender, maternal health, child health, and nutrition chose to resign on Monday after four years at USAID. In his resignation letter to the head of the agency, Samantha Power, he complained about the inconsistencies in USAID’s approach to different countries and humanitarian crises, and the general treatment of Palestinians. “I cannot do my job in an environment in which specific people cannot be acknowledged as fully human, or where gender and human rights principles apply to some, but not to others, depending on their race,” he wrote.
