Take umbrella academy into consideration. For the last two seasons, there’s been hints about Reginald being an alien, and that’s also the origin of the siblings powers. Then in season three they sort of revealed more about it. But I want more!!! I want this crazy, eldritch being that uses not just the siblings, but an entire planet as a pawn. Dunno if it’s just me, but I was kind of let down that Reginald has like spiky tentacle arms (kind of crablike???) and that’s all we really see. I mean oblivion being a machine that can reset the universe to your own making is sooooooooo cool I wish that they kind of made everything a bit more…. cosmic sort of.

Honestly, I’m totally okay that they’re not doing it, and it might be a little to bit extra. In fact kind of I like how aliens are in the show, but the plot isn’t centered on the face that there is proven life outside of earth. They’ve got other problems. But it’s because tua is already such a wacky, crazy show, it doesn’t have to be too far of a stretch. A savvy business man that’s actually just a talking goldfish. Sure. A destructive force that obliterates the world because of a few people fucking up the timeline. Why not? A hotel that is actually an Alice in wonderland looking glass kind of thing that is a copy of a hotel which is actually just a cover for a universe altering machine? Loving it!! To quote something that I’ve heard, or maybe it’s just me pretending ive heard of it before, EMBRACE THE WEIRD.

Anyway while they’re desperately trying to find their dragons, Jamie and co happen upon 5 (6? I mean, one has two heads) equally cautious dragons. The kids have no idea what to do and who can blame them really.

Awkward meetings, magic, dragons, social media, tooth palaces, the fricken North Pole like it’s all here. Going home would be the natural instinct, but a pretty frost boy with prettier eyes might convince a certain someone to stay,,,

Ok, so I’ve seen plenty of fics where Jack time travels to the Viking age and meets up with hiccup (not that I’m upset with that, keep them coming), but what about the other way around?

Like something where Hiccup and co stumble upon a magical artifact and end up in north’s workshop and he’s so confused but then he sees a strange and beautiful boy with white hair and blue eyes and there’s not turning back. Imagine hiccup freaking out about all of the new wonderful inventions, but disappointed that everybody thinks dragons are a myth. Jack being there to help him cope because he can understand of being lost in a world that he doesn’t quite understand. The gang struggling that their superstitions are actually incredibly real, and there’s a lot more out there than the Norse gods. All of the humans out there complimenting them in their costumes and thinking they just came from a fair or comic con and the Vikings being very confused. Chaos ensuing, a big bad to fight, angst over getting back to their normal timeline, a hell of a lot of confusion and miscommunication, basically what you see in another fic, just you know, flip flopped.

While yes, kids shows and movies are marketed towards kids, that doesn’t mean they are the only ones who can enjoy them. and with all of the shit going on in the world today, people of all ages need a little joy in their day, and I’m not going to be the asshole who denies them that joy. Kids love these shows because of the jokes and the cool colors (ngl i still like that too) but older people can enjoy it because of the incredible diverse characters, the lore and world building, and the lessons that are important for all ages. It takes a special kind of show to watch it when you’re a child and watch it when you’re an adult and still love everything about it (not just for nostalgic purposes), you can practically feel the passion and the care put into stories like that. That’s why I’m always going to watch shows and movies like that. I’m always going to write and read fanfics and speculate about thing that are never going to happen and create headcanons about my favorite characters. I’m always going to look at fan art and get so excited that someone cared enough about the show or movie that they took the time and effort to make an astounding art work of it. I’m always going to dream about the season that will never happen after the show inevitably gets canceled. I’m always going to rant about plots that upset me or characters that piss me off, even if the other person doesn’t really understand what I’m talking about. And I will always watch that show or movie and feel the same joy I did when I was a kid.
