I thought it was great!!! I’m a sucker for five centric fics and I’ve never seen that sort of take (au I guess) on him. I loved it, and I looooooove fives powers. I could go on and on and on and on (you get it) about his powers and I love the imagery of his powers in extra extra ordinary (cool title as well). Also five being an inventor is awesome. Think it’s cool. Yeah I need to read the sequel I keep on getting sidetracked but I’m really interested to see how it goes!!! can’t wait for more and I hope that the writer keeps on sharing ideas!!!

I was browsing through Netflix when I saw a trailer for a kids show and omg I couldn’t stop laughing

One of the villains of this show looks like five as a seven year old lmao
I saw a post where they talked about each hargreeves having a different color for their powers (like five having blue and Viktor having white) but then I had a lightbulb moment. Seven siblings. Seven colors of the rainbow. We could totally have that scene that was in one of the Barbie movies where they just blast someone with rainbow sparkles
Crossover idea: Wednesday attempts murder and instead of being transferred to nevermore Reginald takes notice of her psychic abilities and she attends the umbrella academy. I think she would fit right in.
Klaus gives five a rubix cube as a joke and at first Five just rolls his eyes and talks about it being literal Childs play while he moves around the pieces and tries to solve it. But he never does. He toils for weeks and spends every waking moment furiously turning the cube but nothing works. He refuses to look up the answer. He’s a genius, he can “solve a godamn rubix cube, Diego, so stop laughing before I shove this thing up your ass”. Then Luther picks it up one day and solves it in less than two minutes. They find the smashed remains of the cube in the trash can. Five denies doing it.
Whenever aliens are introduced into a show, my imagination takes it and runs with it into an entirely different direction
Take umbrella academy into consideration. For the last two seasons, there’s been hints about Reginald being an alien, and that’s also the origin of the siblings powers. Then in season three they sort of revealed more about it. But I want more!!! I want this crazy, eldritch being that uses not just the siblings, but an entire planet as a pawn. Dunno if it’s just me, but I was kind of let down that Reginald has like spiky tentacle arms (kind of crablike???) and that’s all we really see. I mean oblivion being a machine that can reset the universe to your own making is sooooooooo cool I wish that they kind of made everything a bit more…. cosmic sort of.
Honestly, I’m totally okay that they’re not doing it, and it might be a little to bit extra. In fact kind of I like how aliens are in the show, but the plot isn’t centered on the face that there is proven life outside of earth. They’ve got other problems. But it’s because tua is already such a wacky, crazy show, it doesn’t have to be too far of a stretch. A savvy business man that’s actually just a talking goldfish. Sure. A destructive force that obliterates the world because of a few people fucking up the timeline. Why not? A hotel that is actually an Alice in wonderland looking glass kind of thing that is a copy of a hotel which is actually just a cover for a universe altering machine? Loving it!! To quote something that I’ve heard, or maybe it’s just me pretending ive heard of it before, EMBRACE THE WEIRD.
Also I had another theory about the powers. So the glowy stuff (marigold) is what powers oblivion which is what resets the universe is also what gives the hargreeves powers. Maybe what their powers is loosely based on each one being able to manipulate the universe somehow. Like Diego and Luther can manipulate the physics of the world, Diego curving the trajectory and Luther being able to pick up things that would normally be impossible to. Klaus being able to manipulate the life span and reach pass the Veil and communicate with the dead is also pretty manipulative of the universe. So the machine kind of extracts that power and uses that ability of manipulation to fabricate a new reality.
Okay I’ve been working on a umbrella academy (mostly five centric) fic rec list and it keeps on getting bigger and bigger but it’s gonna be good, so stay tuned. And if there’s a long ass post with a shit ton of links, it’s probably me

Also some quick notes about these:
As I said before, these are basically five centric. I do however read a lot of other stuff for other characters that I’m willing to share, so ask and ye shall receive!!! That being said, I don’t read a lot of oc fics and character x reader, so I don’t have a lot of recommendations for that.
Many of these fics were written before season three, before Viktor’s transition, which means that his deadname will be used. If you don’t want to read it, that’s totally okay, but just a forewarning!!!
Most of these fics have some dark and mature themes. And it may not seem like a serious thing, but sometimes you need to take a break from that kind of thing. This goes for any piece of media really that deals with these kinds of things. It doesn’t make you less of a person for taking care of yourself. There is no pressure to finish any of these or to even click on it. So if you read the tags (which you always should), and you think it’s not something that would be good for your mental health, don’t be afraid to tap out.
Oh and some of These have word counts but I got tired so I only did some. So pretty much All of these are multi chapter fics

Defective weaponry by printlno | five and Klaus track down a bad guy, but it doesn’t go as well as planned. Also this is based on the comics, not the show. The characters will only make sense if you’ve read the comics (well they’ll make sense, but they might seem a bit ooc sometimes)

Ashes and Dust by Devilbaby | I honestly can’t say too much because there is so much wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff that I don’t want to give away but it’s really well done. It’s in a series called the chronos saga and I would totally recommend the whole series but the third (and final) part is incomplete
The Secret inside of you (run boy run) by Utukki | Reginald knows what Five is capable of. And he can never let him reach that potential. So he outs in a little safety measure. Incomplete
But for now it’s time to run by Ford_Ye_Fiji | ever wondered what would happens if The Doctor and number five from umbrella academy met? Boom. Here’s the fic. There’s also some plot and a whole series too, called run, boy, run, (the umbrella effect)

Howling at the moon by assaily | five gets sent to Hotel Oblivion, and has to confront his inner demons. This is a great fic for those who were kind of disappointed by the hotel oblivion storyline (like myself) but it is incomplete
Intelligent conversation by Soulykins | five has a habit of talking to himself. Might have something to do with, gee I dunno 45 years in the apocalypse. This is the first in a series called old dog, old tricks and the whole series is really good if you want five angst and sibling bonding.

Monster that I despise by pinetreedeath | comic book elements, which I feel like is just code for serial killer DNA at this point (oh yeah that’s basically what it’s about). Really cool how the author writes it, however, incomplete
TUA one shots I write at 3am by pinetreedeath | they have different plots for each one but each one is incredible. You’ve got feral five, you’ve got soft five. Any five you want just pick a chapter and you’ll have it (jeez I feel like a salesman or something) also incomplete

Do you know how difficult it is to find a fic that you read 2 years ago and the only thing you can remember from it is the word pumpkin????? Like oh my god. Then I wrote all of this down and it mysteriously disappeared so I had to make a whole new list, which was very frustrating. But this was also fun so if you have any new requests, lmk!!!

One of my favorite things about five is that in the first episode he’s shown as this cocky motherfucker who has his shit together. He’s on a mission. He gets shit done. He can kill a room of mercenaries with nothing but a butter knife and a smirk.
Then by the third season you realize that he’s just a sleep deprived, dehydrated dumbass who really loves his family and is in desperate need of therapy.
Reginald: If klaus jumped off a cliff would you too.
Diego: hey man, I’m a leader, not a follower
