Wide eyes traveled the room mindlessly. His brain was too occupied by thoughts to see anything beyond patches of color and light.

It was obvious what was going on in his head.

First, his experience. What he knows of the pain that still cause shakes and shivers in his body. The absolute mental devastation caused by the storm in his heart and mind from knowing his past.

Secondly, he sees you in the same position. Screaming, blood over your plush skin. Eyes dazed, far away from the world around you. Whatever world you may have been in that allowed you to be treated so poorly. Because if you had gotten hurt, it must’ve been a world Chuuya wasn’t part of.

“Right?”

“I’m sorry…”

“Sorry? No, fuck. Don’t be sorry, don’t you dare say that.”

In a split second he crossed the distance and pulled you into his chest.

“I’ll kill them all.”

Of course he would lie down his life for you, but this information increases that tenfold

You’re not fragile, that much is obvious, but after learning how close you were to death he strives for your life

“Chuuya, I do not need a bodyguard. It’s just down the block! And this boy needs a walk anyways!”

The dog barked in agreement, sorta. But Chuuya would not budge. No puppy eyes work on him when it comes to your safety.

“No. You can talk him on the walk, and go to the market. But one of my subordinates is going with you. I have some emails to write.”

“But!”

“No buts, love. It’s for your own good.”

He pet the doggies head while speaking sternly to you. Little did you know, it wasn’t just one subordinate. He had a whole team on your saftey detail at all times outside of work and home.

And if those scientists are still alive?

“Hey baby, did you see the news this morning?”

His torso expanded and contracted with each exchange of air.

Words failed. Minuscule things such as meetings at work would cause this. Would cause Chuuya Nakahara to cry.

“You weren’t supposed to be home.”

“You weren’t supposed to be home. I was supposed to be alone, and… and I- I dunno.”

Whines left his mouth when you kissed his cheek.

As if Judas to Jesus, he burned at your affection. Unworthy of something so…human.

“What did I do to deserve you?”

suna had finally found it. kita shinsuke's weakness. it was a girl named y/n. but how did he come to that conclusion? well today, in hopes to come earlier than kita to practice..which he did not succeed, he overheard kita use a much softer and calmer voice to someone on the phone.

"yeah i have it, sorry i didn't notice before y/n....mhm, you can come after practice to get it." kita smiled to himself and hung up, ears pink.

suna entered and didn't say anything. he went straight to the locker rooms and started "changing" while the rest of the volley team arrived.

"i think i can do it better!" atsumu shouted entering the gym with a bang.

"uhuh? last time ya did it you.." osamu continued to fight with atsumu, to which aran was trying to calm down.

"atsumu, osamu, hurry up and get changed." both of them straightened up upon hearing the voice of kita.

"yes.." both of them walked over to the lockers and aran thanked kita for his help.

when the twins entered they found suna in his phone attentively.

"hey suna, practice is about to start." atsumu said when he noticed he wasn't fully changed yet, just his shorts.

"do you know of any y/n?" suna asked.

"nah. never heard of that name. why?" atsumu continued putting on his shirt.

"it's just that kita was talkin' to someone named y/n...and it sounded like a girls voice.." at that fact, the twins turned to face suna extremely curious.

"kita talkin' to a girl over the phone?" osamu questioned looking at suna like he grew a third eye.

"yeah, he even said that she could come after practice to get something." suna said finally putting down his phone.

"well i guess we'll see her until she comes." atsumu said opening the door. suna nodded and resumed changing.

practice went as usual, and once everything finished everyone started cleaning and packing up. until suna saw a sillohuette of someone comming up to the gym door. he saw a girl with a side ponytail and side bangs. pink glossy lips, slightly altered uniform, leg warmers, two piercings in each ear, and long nails with a glittery pink finish.

"uhm..is shinsuke here?" you asked aloud once you scanned the entire gym and didn't see his presence anywhere. everyone turned to look at you curious.

aran recognised and walked torwards to you, "are you looking for kita, y/n?"

"oh! aran!!" you exclaimed happy to see him. since you were both third years, you knew of each other from different classes. "yes!! i totes left my phone with him! could you believe that?" you gasped.

"wait, you're kita's girlfriend!?" suna unconsiously shouted, absolutely shocked by your extravagant appearance.

"uhm..yeah? did he not say anything yet?" you confirmed pouting.

"HUH!?" the entire gym collectively gasped. even leaving aran's mouth agape.

"i thought YOU knew aran!? i always gushed over shinsuke, i even told you i confessed today!" you said pointing at his chest.

"I THOUGHT YOU WERE KIDDING...and you always throw 'round the word 'love' so easily!" he blinked, comprehending little by little all your not-so-subtle serious hints.

"so, so yer sayin' kita has a gal girlfriend!?" atsumu yelled, now approaching you, as well as the rest of the team.

"to be honest, i didn't even believe he would return my feelings!" you giggled feeling bashful of the phrase 'kita has a gal girlfriend'.

"so you were the one who called captain earlier?" suna said curious to see if you were really, y/n.

"OH!! thanks for reminding me! yes i was!! and i came looking for my phone that i left with him!!" you said looking around the gym once more. "did he go home early?? oh no! did i just totally miss him!?"

"no, no, he just went to the restroom." aran calmed your nerves down.

"what's everyone doing?" kita asked walking torwards everyone near the exit.

"AH! SHIN~♡!" you exclaimed making your way torwards him.

"oh, y/n. you're here. wait, hold on, i don't have your phone with me." he turned around and quickly jogged torward the boys locker room.

"woah it's fer real!" atsumu affirmed.

"so how did you guys even meet..? weren't you..kind of afraid of him.." osamu whispered that last part while his teammates nodded a bit.

"to be honest, i totally was!!" you admitted covering your mouth so kita wouldn't hear your voice. "he always chewed me out about wearing my piercings in school grounds and about wearing my uniform the right way. even aran was a witness of it." you whispered while aran nodded confirming.

"ohh." even more curious at the sudden enemies start to your story, the team got closer.

"but one day...

when you had a small fight with your ex boyfriend over how he forgot your 2 month anniversary, you noticed how he couldn't care less about that small detail. so you were very distracted that day in everything you did. so much so, you got scolded by multiple teachers for not paying attention to class because of your small heartbrake.

it was lunch break and you decided to grab the limited and delicous bread that they were selling in the second year's floor. but while you were going down the stairs, you did a false step and felt your entire body lean forward.

you were literally falling forward, so you braced yourself for the big hurtful impact, until you felt arms wrap around your waist and pull you up. the strength of the person made your stomach flutter a bit, so you turned around so fast to find yourself just inches away from kita's face.

once registering his face, you immediately felt conscious and realised what position you were in. kita's body was very close to you, his arms on your waist, and you were very close to each other's face.

"...when his hands were around my waist and we were practically breathing on eachother all he said was, 'be careful. you could've gotten seriously hurt.'~~♡ with the world's cutest worried expression ever!! at that moment my vision of him changed so much i started really liking him lots and i totally broke up with my selfish ex boyfriend on the spot!! shin was just such a gentleman!" you giggled recalling the story.

"but i remember kita always rejecting you..?" aran also recalled.

"exactly.." you sighed, "but i never gave up! despite his scolding and rejection. and i promised him, that i would make him fall for me for sure! AND I DID IT!" you gave them two thumbs up with the widest grin.

"woah! who knew kita was so romantic!" atsumu commented.

"i don't consider myself one. i believe i was just doing what anyone would've done." kita said walking up to you, giving you your pink sparkly phone dangling with keychains back.

"yaay!! thanks so much shin~!! i have my beloved phone back ♡!!" you smiled big since you missed your phone lots! that's why earlier, you called kita in another classmates phone number, really hoping he wouldn't hang up on it.

"alright, it's time for us to leave, it's getting dark." he gestured you and aran to follow him.

"yup! see ya laters!" you waved at them goodbye.

" good bye." kita said to his team.

"see you guys tommorrow!" aran followed.

"your team's super cool!" you gushed to both of them, clinging onto kita's left arm. aran laughed and kita smiled.

"you did it on purpose, right?" kita looked at you. your eyes widened.

"did what on purpose..??" you asked.

"you never forget your phone, it's important to you." he uncovered your act.

"haha! you caught me!" you winked at him, "i just wanted to see you in practice at least once! and meet your team." you admitted.

"all you had to do was say so, how about tommorrow you come see us practice?"

"no way! for reals!? thanks shin!! you're the best boyfriend~♡!" he chuckled and blushed at your excitement,

meanwhile aran couldn't help but feel like a third wheel.
