It frustrates me whenever people hear conservatives say "Gay/Trans/Queer people will confuse children" and then show kids accepting queer people as a 'gotcha'. That's not what they mean.
To a conservative, 'confusing children' means:
"Children might mistakenly believe being queer isn't bad"
"Children might get the idea in their heads that gender is a construct and not an innate immutable fact"
"Children might be tricked into having empathy and understanding for others"
"Children might be led to believe that being queer is an option for them"
"Children might be fed the lie that their religion- or worse, their parents- can be wrong"
Conservative parents believe they own their children, and any attempts at free thought past the status quo they've been taught is a rebellion. Rebellion must be quashed, but beyond that, rebellious thoughts must have been learned from someone beyond them. That's one reason they're cracking down on queer media in schools and pushing for homeschooling. They don't want their kids to be "confused" into rejecting their brainwashing.
