Wondering which is accurate (i trust iQiyi more tbh because some of the other subtitles from the downloaded version are pretty bad)
if anyone can shed light on the translation I'd really appreciate it!
I've just been trying to overanalyze what Korn's response here actually was.
I have serious thoughts after ep 7 but I'm waiting for them to settle and rewatching a few scenes
and lmao this boy really unbuttoned his shirt and then pretended like he wanted to get back to work knowing Korn would stop him
A while ago I said to a friend that if Korn marries Fasai he's on track to just become his father, a terrible person and abusive and neglectful father because he resents his life. Well. Thanks, show (I hate you š)
Watching this character who tried so hard to maintain control over any part of his life slowly unravel as more and more of it falls apart until finally everything he worked for and the person he did it all for is gone... My heart is broken. Amazing performance by Bas!
Everybody a round of applause for Bas
because that man acted his heart out WOW
the sheer emotion, the disbelief, the insanity
šš»šš»šš»
i have a love/hate relationship with Fasai. i hate her a lot. but the little bit of vulnerability we saw in ep 8 shows that she's probably as fucked over as Korn. we can see that they're a lot alike.
But I also think trying to trap a gay man into a marraige he doesn't want, coercing him into sex, knowing he loves someone else, is on the Character Patheticness Scale and not the ~girlboss~ scale or whatever.
4 Minutes episode 8
Non-spoilery conclusion: this show was flawed but I did enjoy it and I want to see more from everyone involved, you know?
So we're in the reality where Tyme is a caring doctor?
And where he is a good boyfriend even when breaking up...
I'm sorry but doctor/patient to dating is super uncomfortable. Like I get this is the fuzzy version of events but IDK gives me the ick.
Akira! My favorite actor in the show!
Okay toxic yaoi threesome I guess.
Wait tell me they didn't go back to Tonkla house, right? Are you fuckers at home when there's a manhunt?
Well, yeah, okay that clusterfuck was always gonna end badly. And honestly? I fuck with that kind of tragic doomed love between flawed people.
Okay making merits for the guy who shot you? Did Great know about their relationship?
Ah yeah I figured the money exchange was a setup.
Okay, okay. So...ultimately, I think the show was a valiant attempt at doing something different and being a really twisty mystery, but it could have used a rewrite, and probably more episodes.
Like, I really think rushing through the resolution in this episode is a mistep because it skips over the actual resolution of Tyme and Great's relationship, the actual love confession and getting together. Like, that's the MONEY SHOT of the romance and we don't really get it. Like, sure we got to see their 4 minutes versions of their relationship, but they didn't, and we didn't get to see them reunite and work it out.
I get from a writing standpoint, that's a very hard thing to write, especially in a snappy manner, which is why the easy choice is to skip it, but you're denying the audience the emotional payoff. And also sorta denying the really messy version of their relationship they had by only presenting us with a sanitized honeymoon version at the end. Like what I really want is seeing that hard work of these two flawed and hurt people getting over it and accepting each other for REAL.
Yeah what I really want is the fanfic of this show I think.
Other big missteps are how confusing a lot of the out-of-order stuff was with the Tonkla plot, though I ultimately got that.
And most of all, the lack of real characterization of Great up until we get the real version of his story. He just felt flat and blank until then, and I get WHY and I don't know how to better resolve that while still getting the "oh shit it wasn't real" reveal. But like...IDK.
This show very much feels like an experiment that was worthy and had a lot of hard work put into it but didn't quite land.
I really think the actors all did great and the filming and everything was excellent, so I hope we continue to get good stuff from BOC. I also really like Bible and Jes individually and think they're both super talented, but I'm not entirely convinced by the chemistry... IDK.
OK but why am I seeing on Twitter and Tumblr people saying that Tonkla did not love Korn as much as Korn loved him?? Did we watch the same show? Letās not act like Korn was boyfriend of the year. Tonkla didnāt just wake up one morning and decided to be a murderer. He also didnāt force Korn to also cheat on him??? Korn was choosing his family and the life he lived his whole life over love the entire time. You can argue that love wasnāt more important than revenge to Kla but you canāt argue that he didnāt love and care about Korn or vice versa.
He literally took a bullet for him. He did not have to do that. He knew his time was running out. You donāt do things that Tonkla did in this show and expect to live happily ever after. in my opinion, they had the most realistic end to a dark series. You can love someone and want to be with them, but fate not be in your corner. They were both in retrospect too deep into their individualized to not die and I find that extremely heartbreaking. To be honest if two people deserve happy ending it was probably them because they were not made by them. Their situations were directly influenced by other people (technically so was Greats but he ended up happy so).
But I feel like deducing everything between Korn and Kla to just a revenge plot is a lack of critical thinking. I know thatās a buzz word and Iām not just saying that because throughout the airing of the series I have been like, āI support Klaās wrongs and his rightsā. But instead, I am saying this because he and Korn are not their actions. They are who they are because of other peoples actions. Kla couldnāt move on with his life after his brother died because there was no justice. He definitely needed therapy and he should not have been going around murdering people or attempting to. But that was a direct Issue stemming from his brotherās death. Korn didnāt want to be the head of the family. He didnāt want to be a crappy brother or a crappy boyfriend. He didnāt want to marry that girl whose name escapes me. His life leading up to this point for him to take that path.
And at the end of it, they were both willing to look at each other and be like you know what!? we are Thelma and Louise, we are Bonnie and Clyde. In the most tragic ways possible. I think thatās the reason they kind of stole the last episode. All of their shit was out there. Neither one of them were cowards and neither one of them were good people. Maybe they were at one time but life and the choices they made that. I think their end was perfect because they both succeeded and failed at their motives at the end of the day. Neither one was where they were in the beginning at the end of it all.
Marrying that woman wasnāt going to miraculously make Korns life easier. In the end, she cut her losses anyway. the marriage didnāt help her at that point. So where did he have to go? The revelation that Kla was the one to shoot Great and that Great was the part of his brotherās murder didnāt diminish how they felt about each other. It just complicated everything. Attempting to murder the people responsible for his brotherās death didnāt bring Kla solace. It didnāt bring his brother back and if anything it just made life shittier. At the end of the day, there was no outfit either of them. They would both still have to pay for things they did and did not do. So even though their story ended, they still had a better ending. They still love each other despite the tough situation they were in.
My favorite part of that last scene is Basā facial expressions when he hears everything from Kla. Heās not heartbroken, or angry, heās not bewildered, Or jealous. Heās all of the above and you can see it written on his face so perfectly. Bas really knows how to show emotion on his face and I love him for that; because the mix of feelings between the revelation and him pointing that gun. He wasnāt questioning whether or not Kla loved him because what did Kla have to gain from keeping him around at the point of him running? This man was exhausted. He was tired of everything and everyone he was tired of the cards that they all have been dealt up until that point. He knew pointing that gun was a bad idea. But their backs were against the wall and there was nothing left to lose. Until there was. He had to watch the love of his life take a bullet for him so I will not sit here and let people act like Kla was this master manipulator who only wanted revenge.
Because the saddest part about all of this is, it was just a very unfortunate circumstance that intertwined Great and Dome.
The way this tweet has me HOWLING!
