The Emperor’s Gift is fantastic and I’m only halfway through. ADB excels at writing these tight knit groups of astartes. Everyone has so much character and I absolutely love Hyperion. If anything happens to him I’m gonna k word everyone in the sector and then myself. He is a precious boy. I’m also now convinced adhd makes you a stronger psyker cause Hyperion definitely has it lmao. I feel ✨represented✨
Finished The Emperor’s Gift by Aaron Dembski-Bowden and MAN once again ADB delivers the feels. I have high hopes for Echoes of Eternity with everything else I have read from him. He writes such lovely and human characters and excels at their interpersonal relationships. Hyperion is an amazing character and I really love seeing his growth through the book. Was hilarious to see him interact with the mortals of the crew and of the inquisitor’s retinue. The Grey Knights as written by ADB seem very friendly to baseline humans they work with compared to a lot of chapters which I didn’t expect. They banter with the humans and joke around it’s great. I loved how he described squad Castian’s connection as psykers. I really love librarians so seeing them in a very synergistic and communal mode was interesting compared to the more individualistic librarians I’ve read from other chapters. Ending had me in my feels for sure. He even managed to write a space wolf character I didn’t absolutely hate so that’s a first. I was so immersed in this book at one point that I missed my bus. No meme can convey the emotional ride that was. Echoes of Eternity was 11/10. No spoilers but wow. ADB crushed it as I trusted him to. It was everything I could have ever wanted.
