Little Baxter will be available for adoption soon. He will remain here at the ranch however, and prospective adopters will come here for a meet-and-greet. I must be dedicated, letting total strangers into my house. To say I am a recluse would be a gross understatement. I'll post a link to his adoption page when it is put up on the Capital Area Humane Society website.
Personally, I'm not a fan of Christmas. But Baxter seems to enjoy it.
The Cheese Brothers, Camembert and Wensleydale, left the ranch last Monday (11 days ago) to go back to the Humane Society for adoption, and today they were adopted! I figured their stay at the shelter would be very short, as these were two of the sweetest foster rabbits I ever had the privilege of meeting.
I have to say, Baxter does seem to be liking his new stuffed friend.
For the last month I have been feeding a feral calico cat with the plan to get her TNR'd on September 28th. Well, this week these two dorks came waltzing out of my garage unexpectedly. 7 or 8 weeks old. Apparently she raised them in my garage and I never noticed, somewhat amazingly. I trapped them yesterday and sent them off to the Capital Area Humane Society to get fixed and acclimated to people, and then adopted. My friend there who runs the TNR program said they already started calming down and becoming friendly, she thinks by Monday they will be people-loving kittens. And by the way, that orange one is a somewhat uncommon female!
The mom will still be trapped and fixed, and then re-released, as she is feral and too old to ever become comfortable around people. I have a shed out back that was used for raising hunting dogs by the previous homeowner, and it is all set up for ferals to live in comfortably through the winter months.
It's been a quite while since I've been asked to foster a bnuu. And just as I was thinking of breaking down the rabbit room and putting all the fostering gear in storage, I get a text from the Capital Area Humane Society.
This little guy is a charmer. Incredibly friendly and calm. Loves pets. He'll be here for a couple of weeks until he can get in to get fixed. This little dude is going to make someone or some family very happy.
It just boggles my mind that someone decided to abandon this rabbit when they moved. This rabbit obviously loves people, and is possibly one of the friendliest, sweetest rabbits i’ve ever met. Someone must have loved this rabbit once. They don't get this human-friendly by accident.
Well, we'll find him a good home soon enough. In the meantime, I have to come up with a name...
And his name shall be... CAPTAIN CRONCH™
