Rediscovered Mitski and am feeling emotions again. Hahaha. (I swear if Dan doesn’t get his happy ending in the upcoming sequel I WILL cry. A lot.)
Personally I'm not much of a dan fan he was great for angst and the trauma his existence had on danny but further then that naw not for me but I will admit that I like what they done with him in the graphic novel and vlads redemption but for me phantom planet and the novel are separate realitys and aren't Canon to my main story for dp

The redemption was fine but HE HAD NO REASON TO COME BACK LIKE WE CAN JUST HAVE DANI SHE IS RIGHT THERE U HAVE THIS CHARACTER U FINALLY HAVE THE CHANCE TO USE BUT NO.
I like the concept of what Dan means to danny that is far better like he was this looming invisible threat of what danny could become and the psychological effects it has on danny fearing himself

the consequences of a glitch in time are so funny to me because can you imagine being dash baxter or something and you glance over between shots to see regular danny, girl danny, and mean rich danny pulling up to the function
i was expecting the graphic novel to be like a basic episode, but as a comic, just with Vlad and Dan shoehorned in as phandom pleasers and nothing else, but instead it's like. 'You remember every episode from 15 years ago, right? good because we're picking up right were we left off and we're barely going to explain anything or introduce the characters to any potential new readers. also obsessions are canon now and we retconned the finale ✌️ have fun'
Something I liked about Vlad's arc in the graphic novel is that he was rewarded, in a way, for being a better person–he's wanted Danny to be his son for a while, and in a way he is now–but this narrative reward doesn't involve all the people he's genuinely hurt. As you said, nobody has to forgive him, none of the characters even need to talk to him again if they don't want to, but he's still partially able to get the ending he wants for himself because he chose to try and be better.
I get that some folks don't like that Vlaf got a redemption arc, but if Vlad WAS going to get one, I'm glad they did it how they did.
Danny didn't push the redemption. He wasn't pushed to forgive him. Vlad realized he needed to change and worked to show that change. He didn't ask for Danny to forgive him. All he did was make room to give both him and Phantom a second chance.
It's a redemption arc for a person who still isn't a good man, but he is still looking to make himself better. We nor Danny have to forgive him, but he can still do better.
It's a step forward and for someone like Vlad who always seems to be looking back, that's a whole lot.
