I already plan to work with animals but just in general being able to speak to them would be lovely. Shapeshifting even moreso.

I want to connect with my kin. I want to do mischief with the crows and hunt with the gators.

If I could shapeshift I might not even integrate into society at all- why should I?

But if I had to integrate, or if I could only speak with the animals, or if I just started missing my human friends, I would work with animals at a zoo or aquarium and speaking to them would make the job easier and more fun.
