I'm still astonished that people look at this scene and think that Maruki was being MANIPULATIVE during it (and yet characters like Sumi and Ichinose get pats on the head/more sympathy for doing almost similar things)! Look at his body language, read the dialogue, listen to his tone of voice, look back at the earlier moment where he doesn't even try to run or get up when the ground broke underneath him! That's NOT manipulation! That's having suicidal ideations and even attempting it! He did a lot of things wrong but still... That's very much genuine there!

Hits hard, but is also kind. Maruki gave up on himself, but Ren and the rest of the Phantom thieves never gave up on him.

i don't hate sumi and ichinose...
but good god did it irritate me whenever someone is perfectly willing to call maruki out for his bs but not them for doing the same things
especially since Sumi's own selfish tendencies was hardly called out or acknowledged
along with Ichinose basically getting away with her treatment of Sophia.
especially jarring when she's.... Well basically a female version of maruki and she gets treated better by the fanbase so wth?!
