day 12: Theseus

OK LISTEN i get that Ancient Greek morals were different than modern day, and the faults of heroes were possibly viewed like cautionary tales; which is why there’s quite a few who did some messed up things. and yes i understand critiquing an Ancient Hero for something like this is just opening up a can of worms that wouldn’t lead to any good effect, as truly if one is to say one hero or character wasn’t a good person then in the end most (if not all) characters could be accused of being not good people

and i do not condone the removal of myths just because they have elements of the heroes doing bad things, critical consumption exists and you can read a piece of media without 100% condoning the acts of its hero

anyhow with that out of the way

ok so now to the art. drew him getting turnt into stone in the Underworld. for those who don’t know- he sat on a rock and got.. temporarily turnt to stone? idk, haven’t read the source material. but i tried to draw that. he’s meant to mimic a marble statue, which is why (asides from shading) he’s all one color

this portrait was rushed so it’s kinda stupid

AS FOR HIS DESIGN-

nothing important to add. basic armor + sandals. i didn’t have many ideas.

tbh his is one of my lazier entries i’d say, probably lower quality, but i guess something being done is better than it being perfect
