Star Darlings Rewrite
so apparently there are a lot more people interested in my Star Darling rewrite than I expected. Because of that I thought I would give yall kinda an idea of what to expect from it.
This is mostly going to center around the negative traits people can have and how you can work to better yourself to lessen those traits. (this does go along with the main plot) ((and i mostly wanted to focus on the negative traits of the characters because they’re NEVER shown in the original and it annoyed me))
It will deal with homophobia, transphobia, abandonment issues, domestic abuse, and others, because again it will lead to character growth and understanding. Also, (don’t be mad) some of your favorites may be not good. Whether that be actual evil acts or some toxicity towards the others. (specifically Leona because if you look up her Wiki you will find that she has more negative traits than positive, so for a bit, we’ll focus on those. But don’t worry, i guarantee growth for the whole crew)
none of the characters are cis and straight...none.
My boy, Ganymede is gonna be a real character that shows up and is an honorary SD because I wanted him to be. He may not know what his friends are doing or why but he’s happy to be a part of their group and happy that he can be himself. (Starling Academy and Star Prep are still separate tho, the campuses are closer and they all like to hang out in a field between the two schools) ((also i wanted to make him punk...so that’s a thing........Libby has a type))
There will be at least one story surrounding each character and a bit of their growth. Multiple stories may be connected by the same main event. (for example Vega and Libby’s stories)
We’re gonna change the plot ever so slightly. The negative energy brought in by the negative wish orbs alone doesn’t seem like enough to overpower the positive wish orbs. SO the main change is that to keep the neg. energy the wish orbs provide, neg. energy must be continuously kept alive by the Starlings. So the more negative the people in Starland are, the more the planet dies. The SDs are a major part of this because they’re Star Charmed, they’re the Chosen Ones so their neg. energy is some of the most impactful. And this is mostly neg. energy directed towards ones self.
And finally, the actual neg. energy is going to effect the world around them and the SDs themselves. And not just for one episode when they needed it to seem like a high stake situation.
The original was supposed to be about battling negativity, but it rarely ever seemed to do that in a way that people could relate to. Sure most everyone goes through bullying at least once in their life but there are a lot more issues than just that in the real world. Disney has a tendency of thinking that kids don’t go through a lot, they don’t need help with complex emotions but there is a lot of terrible things in the world that can effect kids that aren’t bullying. Not to say that bullying isn’t bad, because it is, it’s just not the only thing that kids have to deal with.
And I noticed that Star Darlings rarely ever deal with anything other than bullying (maybe it’s different in the books, i don’t have access to them so i can’t say anything about that) but kids go through a lot more than that, and i think it’s important for them to know that whatever they’re going through, that they’re not the only ones who have gone through it, and that they can get help, that there are options for them. And that there will always be people who will love and support them. Even if it’s not their family.
