︴kuroo tetsurō ․﹒∗*○․﹒✧∘°

they’ve been hyping up this new arcade opening up in the city for weeks now. the new establishment sprouting up was the perfect activity to celebrate winter thawing out and transitioning into a much more tolerable and warm spring.

you can’t even count the amount of times kuroo’s been on the phone and you’ve heard his best friend bokuto on the other end of the line (he wasn’t even on speaker most of the time, but you could still make out their entire conversation) as they plotted a date and time to be one of the firsts to go see it.

you didn't mind though–kuroo's told you all about his long-time friend and although you've never met bokuto or their other friend akaashi since they go to a different school than nekoma, you can tell they're people kuroo cares about a lot. whenever he tells you about them, he holds them on such a high pedestal and you always find it so precious. anyone that makes your tetsu happy is a good person in your book, simple as that.

one afternoon when you and kuroo were hanging out at his house–you lying on top of him on the couch as both of you absentmindedly scrolled on your phones–a post about that very same arcade comes up on your feed. this was the first time you've actually seen anything about it, as opposed to just having to hear about it from your boyfriend and his best friend's phone conversations.

"wow tetsu, that arcade you and bokuto have been talking about looks really nice! their claw machines don't look crappy for once, the prizes are so cute!" you fawn, swiping through the different pictures of the post.

immediately, kuroo's voice perks up above your head, "you should come with us!"

you turn to look at him, resting your chin on his chest as his is tucked down to properly get a good look at you. his eyes are wide in excitement at the idea and it makes you chuckle, "no, it's alright tetsu. i don't want to intrude in on your guy time. i know you and kenma haven't seen those guys from fukurodani in a while."

"you wouldn't be intruding," kuroo softly insists as he drops his phone beside him on the couch so he could hug you closer to him with both arms.

"are you sure?"

"yes, i'm sure! i would love for you to meet them, and for them to meet you," despite his usual cool and collected expression, you could practically see sparkles twinkle in his eyes at the thought of the people dearest to him crossing paths for the first time.

you sighed, thinking it over for a moment. they were set on going that upcoming weekend, and if you had to be honest, you had nothing better to do. still grasping your phone, you lightly tap kuroo's nose with your pointer finger affectionately and he reacts by scrunching his face up briefly, "fine, but i want you to ask them right now and make sure it's okay with them."

"there's no reason for them not to be okay with it. they must be eager to meet you, actually. i talk about you to them a lot, yknow?" kuroo chuckles.

"i hope it's all good things," you snide.

you feel one of his hands wrapped around your torso start brushing a thumb back and forth at your side, "no, it's actually about how horrible you are and how you're keeping me captive in this relationship–"

kuroo's roar of a laugh graces your ears as you annoyedly try to push out of his grasp because of his sarcastic claim.

that weekend you, kuroo, and kenma join the two fukurodani boys at the train station. everyone was bundled up as it was still a bit chilly in tokyo, and the subways were pretty packed as civilians tried their best to avoid walking in the cold as they went about their weekend plans.

the things kuroo has told you about bokuto and akaashi were true, as bokuto engulfed you in a big bear hug as soon as you approached them on the platform, "L/N! the one who stole our dear tetsu's heart! it's so nice to finally meet you!"

his voice was, in fact, as loud as you had heard it on the phone, "right akaashi?"

akaashi was also as calm as kuroo had described, reminding you a whole lot of kenma as he calmly spoke, "it's nice to meet you l/n."

as bokuto finally let you go, you peeked over his shoulder to see kuroo's fond smile as he stood beside kenma and watched you interact with his friends. you flashed him a smile, signaling a silent, 'your friends are so nice!'

the five of you were cramped like sardines on the train on the way to the arcade—you between kuroo and bokuto—as bokuto would show you pictures and funny online videos on his phone.

at first you were nervous, but soon you felt relieved because getting along with kuroo’s friends came much more naturally than you expected. bokuto was a funny guy, you realized. it wasn't hard at all for the ball of energy to get a laugh out of you.

at one point, though, you felt kuroo suddenly grasp a hand around your knee. but it felt sort of tense, not the usual light touch when he does it (because even if he would never openly admit it, he can be a clingy bastard).

your laughter dies down a bit as you look up at him, "everything good?"

he looks down at you and in that moment you can't quite place the look on his face. but he soon averts his focus to the train window behind where the five of you are seated, intently watching the neighborhoods of tokyo whip by, "yeah. yeah everything's good."

'weird. he's acting weird,' you think to yourself before bokuto's pulling on your arm to show you another video of an owl dressed in a shirt and tie, the small phone charms hanging off bokuto's phone case dangling about as the train continues speeding forward.

the second you all make it to the arcade, the group gets lost in the flashing colors and erratic sounds trying to win your attention every corner you turn.

after the weird vibes you were getting from your boyfriend on the train, you decided to stick by his side as the boys played down the aisles of machines and games. (that is, except for when the four took up a dancing machine and versus-ed each other–which was hysterical for you to watch, by the way.)

at one point, the group had split off, and you found yourself with kuroo, watching kenma trying to beat the high core of one of the arcade's games. the second year was getting pretty close to achieving the feat when the two fukurodani boys suddenly round a corner coming your way.

"L/N! can you please film me absolutely demolishing akaashi in this game back over there?" bokuto shouts. by the time he reaches where you're standing, his phone is being waved in your face, "he thinks he can beat me, but he doesn't know i've been playing this one since i was a kid. he doesn't know the secret trick to win!"

you glance over to akaashi and he gives you an apologetic look. you smile reassuringly and say, "sure," as you gently take bokuto's phone so it's no longer in your face.

glancing back at kuroo, you call out, "i'll be right back, tetsu. don't lose kenma, now!"

expecting a laugh, or even just a chuckle, at your little quip like usual, all you're met with is a short grunt. you stay staring at your boyfriend as you start to trail behind bokuto and akaashi, because you start to feel a little twang of hurt in your chest. he doesn’t even look away from the screen of kenma's game as you leave.

as you do the job you were recruited for–holding bokuto’s phone up while him and akaashi argue seated in front of the large arcade game’s screen–you ruminate over what you could've done that day to warrant your boyfriend’s sudden attitude towards you.

by the time akaashi wins the game, bokuto’s mood suddenly makes a 180 from what you had grown accustomed to since first meeting him at the train station that morning–his shoulders sulking down and borderline unconsolable. you awkwardly let your eyes wander around to the surrounding machines as akaashi tries to talk bokuto off the machine so some kids can have a turn at space invaders, when you spot a prize in a nearby claw machine you just knew had to come on the train ride back home with you.

without thinking, you run back to where you had left kuroo and kenma–who was surprisingly still at it racking up points on the same machine he was on before. you pull at kuroo’s arm, “tetsu, there’s a prize in one of the claw machines over there. can you pretty please win it for me?”

“i’m surprised you didn’t ask bokuto to do it,” kuroo mumbles in response.

bokuto?

your brows knit together as you throw your boyfriend one of the most confused expressions you could muster–you even catch kenma glancing away from his game for a second to side-eye nekoma’s volleyball team captain.

but then the realization hits you. your boyfriend is jealous.

it all started to line up. you thought it was a good thing you were getting along with one of kuroo's closest friends so well. but getting caught up in how great he thinks his friend is, it seems like kuroo forgot that to you, he was still the one who will always make you laugh the most–the one you will always choose at the end of the day.

your jaw drops in real time as you connect the dots of the day’s events, and you can see the tips of kuroo’s ears start to redden.

“s-stop making that face at me,” he slightly stutters out, resulting in you just exaggerating your expression further to poke some fun at him. as you did so, the charms of bokuto’s phone jangle a bit in your hand, making you realize you had ran off without thinking of giving it back–and it gave you an idea.

if there’s one thing you like more than free claw machine prize from your boyfriend, it’s getting reactions out of him that usually he pulls out of you. so the opportunity to fluster him a bit was always an opportunity you were going to take up.

before he could protest, you take his arm and start pulling him to meet back up with the two fukurodani boys.

“y/n, what are you–?”

“bokuto!” the boy looks up from where he was sadly leaning up against a wall as you approached with his friend and his phone being extended toward him from your hand,  “could you take some pictures of me and tetsu so i can post them? you can send them to tetsu later. it’ll be quick, i promise!”

“of course!" bokuto takes back his phone and affectionately slaps kuroo on the back, "i don't know why you don't post pictures of you guys more often anyway, dude!”

as you four make your way to the front of the arcade entrance for a small photo-op (picking up kenma on the way because he had successfully secured his high score on the game he was playing, almost double that of the previous leaderboard number one), kuroo whispers to you, “i can’t believe you sometimes, you know?”

you didn't have to be looking at him to hear the grin in his voice, though.

in front of the arcade, bokuto starts going full-on photographer mode as he snaps several couple photos of you and kuroo. (akaashi and kenma have to assist him at times because bokuto’s so into it that the pictures start getting blurry from how much he’s moving around, like how he’s seen professional photographers on the streets of tokyo take their photos.) (bokuto is not a professional photographer, by any means).

"woah! kuroo you look so good in this lighting bro!" the wanna-be photographer excitedly shouts out as he gets into another comically obscure pose to capture another photo.

you can’t keep in your laughter as your boyfriend lets out a huff, "thanks, man."

you plant a quick peck on kuroo’s cheek for a few pictures, and when you pull away you jokingly comment to him, “and here i thought i’d have to be the one worrying about bokuto stealing your affection away from me today.”

“you’re not funny,” he retorts flatly, still looking straight forward into the camera of his friend’s phone, but the shadow of a smile still noticeable on his lips as the arm he has around you tightens gingerly.

and when the five of you sat on the train on your way back from your day at the arcade, a sixth seat was taken up by a certain claw machine prize–it was yours, but least to say you weren't the one who won it.

︴suna rintarō ․﹒∗*○․﹒✧∘°

a surprise greeted the inarizaki team's little lunch table today: the miya twins clutching two big bags in their arms, filled with food made by the younger in celebration of a recent match's victory.

you watched the admittedly endearing sight from where you and you boyfriend suna sat at the table, his arm draped around your waist keeping you close to his side.

osamu would retrieve one homemade onigiri after the other from the bags, reading the name of which the rice ball was to go to, then scanning around the table as the recipient reached out to eventually have their lunch handed over to them. the faces on each team member's face would light up as they found the onigiris in their hands.

"i wrote the names, everyone!" atsumu proudly flaunted as his brother gave out the food.

"yeah and i had to help ya spell half of 'em," osamu commented, compelling the blonde twin to land a hit on the other's side.

everyone snickered and your boyfriend quickly fumbled with his phone to switch over to the camera app one-handed and discreetly catch the moment that unfolded. in a split second, the altercation quickly evolved into a small tussle between the miya twins, which kita had to calmly put a stop to so osamu could continue handing out food.

one by one, the team members unwrapped their rewards and happily took their bites, followed by various "thank you osamu"'s and "osamu i can't believe how good you make these"'s and many other compliments of the sort. meanwhile, suna and you were in your own little world, where he was playing back what he just recorded and the two of you snickered to yourselves.

"suna?" osamu finally called out, snapping you both back to reality. his name was the last of the team members to be called. you felt your body involuntarily lean over the lunch table a bit as you tried to get a closer look at the rice ball as it went from osamu's to suna's hand.

you weren't part of the team, of course. but they were always welcoming enough to let you sit with them for lunch–you usually politely and quietly accompanying suna on the very edge of the table and enjoying the show of shenanigans the boys ended up getting themselves into from one day's lunch break to the next's.

you had no expectation to get an onigiri yourself, and so in your mind you were already plotting a way to get a share of your boyfriend's. suna knew you all too well that he already had a feeling of what you were going to try attempt.

with a dramatic and exaggerated sigh he turned to you, starting to unwrap the cling film of the taught ball, "here, since you're gonna do it anyway, you can take the first-"

"y/n!" you look up at the sound of osamu's voice to see a rice ball of your own being extended out to you, "ya usually eat with us, so i figured we can't have ya feelin' left out."

after a short moment of surprise–both you and suna stuck in a freeze-frame where he's in the middle of offering his lunch–you eventually reached over and took the onigiri from the grey-haired twin, "thank you so much osamu! you really didn't have to. wow, this looks great!"

"i don't remember writing that one!" you hear atsumu call over from his seat at the table.

"yeah dumbass, because i did," osamu replied, the very audible noise of him smacking the back of his brother's head following shortly after.

"don't call me a dumbass, dumbass!" atsumu shouted back, "c'mon, how are you gonna be more nice to y/n than your own brother?!"

you see suna make a quick side glance at the setter at the comment before leaning in to look at the rice ball in your hands. his gaze repeatedly shifts between yours and his own, still-half-opened onigiri.

"they look the same," he deadpans.

"huh?" you let out through a small chuckle.

"yours and mine, they're the same thing."

you raise an eyebrow at him, "... yes. that's true, rin. i'm pretty sure osamu made them all the same, actually."

you meant your statement to be a lighthearted joike but suna's face remains honed in on your food, as he takes a hold of your wrist and puts the written name tags of your onigiris next to each other, side by side, "yeah that's definitely osamu's handwriting. i guess it's better than atsumu's," he mumbles in some sort of deep thought, "not better than mine though."

still confused at your boyfriend's behaviour, you try to take your hand holding your onigiri away to start eating it, but the grasp his hand has on your wrist prevents you from doing so. you decided to throw him a compliment so he'd let go, "sure rin, i like your handwriting a lot! especially when you write little notes to me in class."

he hums at your attempt and finally lets go, so, after shooting him short questioning look, you start to look for where the wrapping of the onigiri osamu made you ends so you can open it up already. but your movements as you turn the rice ball in your fingertips play out slow, under the relentless gaze suna has on you–for some reason preferring to watch you open up your onigiri instead of finishing to unwrap his.

just as you find the end of the cling film and start pulling on it, suna suddenly speaks, "so you're just gonna eat that?"

you let your hands holding the rice ball fall into your lap, giving him a most genuinely puzzled expression as he's practically glaring at the bundle of inanimate prepared ingredients, "i mean, yeah i'm gonna eat it. it's... it's food?"

suna tilts his head to the side and turns away from you, facing the table with an uncharacteristic scoff, "ok fine.. eat it then, see if i care."

you're taken aback at his sudden attitude. what the hell did you do to make him act up like this?

but then, despite the loud chatter of the rest of his team sitting around the both of you, suna's voice is the only one that echoes in your head: "see if i care."

and it clicks.

ah, he's jealous, isn't he?

you can't stop the fit of laughter forming in your chest at the realization your boyfriend is getting worked up by such a small and definitely friendly gesture by his own best friend. it was adorable, really, seeing him get so possessive over something as simple as a rice ball for lunch.

you couldn't help the small mischievous inkling of a thought as it creeped into your mind. the urge to lightheartedly act on your boyfriend's jealousy to see his reaction was just too tempting!

so you pretend to struggle with unwrapping the rest of your onigiri. exaggerating a huff of your own, you lightly tug on suna's upper arm as he eats his rice ball,

"rin, i can't open it," you whine with a pout, subtly batting your eyelashes up at him as a smile threatens to creep onto your lips and give your little scheme away.

he side-eyes you at first, so you sulk in your seat even more as you tilt your head at him. and just like that, he caves.

he puts on a big act of rolling his eyes as he sets his food down onto the table before taking yours out of your hands. he "reluctantly" opens it, before holding it out toward you, "there, happy?"

but instead of taking the onigiri from his hands, you simply open your mouth at him.

it's suna's turn to give you a puzzled look. you couldn't stop the laugh to come out of you now as he tries jutting the rice ball toward you more, trying to get you to take it from his hand.

but your hand reaches up to tap his wrist, as you open your mouth again and voice a subtle "aaah".

it's then that he gets the gist. you're asking him to feed you.

he scoffs and starts to ramble on, "you're such a child, i can't believe i let myself be seen with you."

he says this as he starts to feed you your onigiri.

suna likes to act all cool and collected but something that's abundantly clear to you, is how eager he is for your attention more than anybody else's. you wonder if he's aware of that himself as he's looks at you with lips slightly parted, focusing on making sure he's not making a mess as he guides the rice ball to your lips to eat more of it. you know he's enjoying this more than you are, more than he probably wishes to let on.

you sit there eating your food with a little happy expression, smiling up at him–a wordless reminder that it's him and only him who makes you the happiest. you catch the faint smile he returns you as his fingers brush a grain of rice away from the corner of your lips.

"EW! you two go get a room!" you suddenly hear atsumu holler from his end of the table, causing everyone to look over at you and suna's little moment together.

"atsumu shut up," suna lazily throws back at atsumu, and you catch your boyfriend's eyes glance over at osamu who was now also looking over at the two of you. at that, suna's fingertips quickly nudge your chin so you'd open your mouth again for another bite of food.

you lightly laugh through a mouthful of onigiri and suna turns to glare at atsumu when the blonde twin shouts, "GROSS!"
