I absolutely adore that Pike looked at La'an, this tightly wound, super traumatized lieutenant with major trust issues who makes questionable decisions and is standing there waiting to be reprimanded for it, and he's immediately just like "That's it, I'm adopting you, come work on my ship."

He is SUCH A DAD, I love his relationship with his crew so much.
